"This marriage is my calling and I will answer every time" | Jamie & Christian's WhistleBear Wedding

Sometimes we share what we know about our couples and their plans for their day, but sometimes they say it so well themselves, we can’t help but share their own words. This is a glimpse of their love story. You hear lots of it throughout their film, but to learn more, read on…
“We met in June 2019. Mutual friends set us up thinking that we would be a great match. Christian reached out to me and asked if we wanted to get together, knowing that friends thought we would be good together. On our first date, we watched the Raptors win the championship game together. We talked for hours more than we watched the game. Little did we know fate had us destined together when his parents privately bought my parents’ house 23 years ago. They still live in that house, and Christian’s bedroom was my old bedroom as a little girl. Pretty wild. We fell in love fast, knowing that we both got along with family. We got engaged in May 2020 - Christian proposed at Puslinch Lake Golf Course (he has worked there for 15 years running the pro shop) on a Friday evening before the course open due to COVID delays, he had all my sisters hiding behind trees with my brothers-in-law set to video and take pictures. He called me on Friday evening asking for a ride home since his car broke down. I was not happy because we just spent a lot of money fixing his car. When I showed up, he had a decorated golf cart and a path of rose petals to find him out on the second hole. All my sisters surprised me after he proposed, and all our family was back at my parents for a celebration. It was so so special.”
When we asked Jamie and Christian why they’re choosing to get married and what it means to them, this is what they said...
“Marriage means everything to us - it is truly a gift from God that we are called to. Finding your earthly best friend and committing before God and our family is extremely special and important to us. Marriage is a lifelong commitment that we are so excited to take our previous lives and mold them into one. We are so excited about our own future family.”
Jamie and Christian are some of the sweetest, gentlest people that we have filmed. Family surrounded them, and you could tell there was a lot of depth to their relationship. From the way they wrote their letters to each other to how they held hands and kissed each others’ faces, it was clear that they took their relationship very seriously.
“Our love is kind. We have put one another first. We know our love is a gift, and we are so blessed to have each other. It’s that fairytale love of marrying your best friend. We love to spend time with our family. We are SO close with each other’s family. I have three sisters, and he has one and they are so near and dear to us. We value family time and all the family events that come with big families. We love to watch hockey together. We are both huge sports fans, so our evenings often involve us watching whatever sports game is on. We love to golf together. Christian is my personal coach as I am learning to try and keep up with him. We love the simple things of walking our dogs and enjoying the outdoors. We are both extremely busy and always on the go, but we love it. We both coach a local hockey team together with Christian’s Dad, so we are busy with travel hockey.”
It wasn’t easy to know how to move forward when it came to the details and planning of their day. Jamie and Christian actually postponed their wedding by a few weeks to enter new Covid guidelines and have her family from New Brunswick attend. They knew their day would be somewhat traditional with a sprinkling of very intentional words and focused time with their loved ones that they hadn’t been able to see for months. I asked what they were most excited about and this is what they shared, “We are so excited for the day, and we can’t wait to enjoy the little things. Christian is excited to see me walk down the aisle and have his morning with his boys. Christian will be golfing before the wedding with the wedding party. I am so excited for the morning with my sisters and bridesmaids just to enjoy the getting ready process. During the ceremony, we are so excited about our vows and making that commitment to each other. We are so excited to have our family and closest friends celebrating with us!”
