I love the ATS and the CTS but I wish Caddy would keep at least one old-school, big, floaty boat with a big V8, cushy ride, plush amd quiet interior, and garish styling. I think there's still at least a small market for that.
I agree, I believe both styles of vehicles have their place under the Cadillac nameplate. We have auto journalist to thank in part for their condemnation of floaty V8’s, and how if it’s American it’s ‘no good’
I own a BMW 328i with every option and package you can think of. I absolutely LOVE how it drives, but have you driven the Cadillac? Man, that thing definitely provides some real competition. BMW and now Cadillac have the best cars in this class.
I sure hope that this little Caddy handles as good as my old Caddy Cimarron I miss so much. That was a 2.0 as well! ;) Didn't Caddy make a Catera as well?
the ATS is all the more remarkable when one considers the fact that it is Cadillac's debut in a highly competitive segment that used to be "owned" by the germans mostly (sorry japan) now with the excellent ATS (everyone that got their hands on one found nothing but praise, no matter where tested, that says a lot!) Cadillac comes with a bold statement to the segment and everything seems to be very well thought through! i can't wait for additional body styles, like the coupe and of course the V !
I have an 09, but that is beside the point. I have driven the ATS and the redesigned 328i, and they both have remarkable qualities. They are very similar as well. I am NOT knocking any cars here, i'm just saying that they are the leaders in their class.
Like the car but HATE the bullshit CUE screen. Has it ever occurred to the designers that not everyone has a iPhone or SmartPad and consequently does NOT want to play with a fucking screen while driving?
there is credible rumor out that an optional diesel engine, (actually 2-3 different displacement units with 4-6 cylinders) are in the pipeline for Cadillac, which would/could be introduced with the ATS first. looking at Cadillac and GM the cars they bring will always be continually enhanced once they are out in the market and receive additional options and configuration choices such as engines that further broaden the appeal. the ATS seems like an instant hit for Cadillac and i'm most impressed.
Sweet little competitive Machine! And with the upcoming new and larger CTS with a hopefully a new Turbo version of the 3.0L V6 on this new platform. Then all Cadillac needs is a large RWD premium sedan and a 4VPC DOHC Direct Injected Turbo V8! I hope the best for Cadillac and the new ATS and the CTS before it moves them in the right direction!
Sometimes, he does some of the test-driving. Check out other videos on the MotorWeek page -- one is with the BMW 5-Series, Hyundai Genesis R-Spec, and Ford Edge.
I didn't get to drive either of them but I recently had a chance to sit in both an ATS and 3 series at an auto show. The BMW felt cheap and boring, with black black and more black on the interior, with bland styling. The Cadillac truly felt high class, with extremely nice materials and styling. If what they say is true and it really drives just as well BMW better watch out; they've really slipped since the late 90's.
im sure it will be great, just like the GN of buick or the SYCLONE or TYPHOON and I cant forget the TA anniversary, I think 1989 GTA, well have a great one
Which is ironic when they pass a 390hp Ram hemi haha! Yes i know they fall under utility vehicle so it doesn't count, but still..... Besides I dont care about all that anyway, I wondered why diesel isn't as common, and now i know. Thanks for all the feedback :)
Great car! But, America should really consider buying into diesel cars more. I mean this guy is saying 26mpg is good. You could have a 300hp 3 series diesel that does 40!!! I know fuel is much cheaper compared to us in Britain, which is ridic! But It is strange why the US is not more content on Diesel cars. I know you have the cummings, and certain diesel cars, just not as much as I would of expected. Anyway, great review and i cant wait until this comes to the UK!!!!

Yeah there is a market they're called "funeral homes"

@@pontiacGXPfan Not really, I've seen plenty of young people online proclaim their love for old land yachts.

Everybody's loving the ATS! Good job GM!
Some shots are with the 3.6 V6.....the red one is a the V6, the Gray one is a 2.0T

How did they get the audio from some '80-s clip to match so well with the video? This is a mashup right?
I want one of these so bad! This as a daily driver fun car and the CTS-V Coupe as the weekend brute
Caddy all the way baby !!
which v8 would they use, or would they supercharge the v6?

they have a twin turbocharged v6 which they are using for the new cts-v sport sedan.
