    If I buy the coupe iteration of the sedan, I'd expect it to be a better performer. The looks are very sedate as well. The sedan is the much better choice here. That's not how it's suppose to be. Nevertheless, thank you Motorweek for the road test.

    :42 "...the first sporty compact Coupe to wear the Cadillac crest".
    Not even close.
    In recent years the CTS came first and was even more radical in style and coolness. It also could be ordered with a Corvette engine with over 500 horsepower and a manual transmission, I would definitely call that sporty and it predated this car by five years.
    Somehow he also forgot the extremely Advanced ELR, the XLR , as well as the Allante, all cutting-edge cars designed much more towards sportiness than traditional Cadillac luxury.
    Even further back were the small Sports tuned Eldorado's from the mid-80s, although that car might have barely crept above the compact car size eligibility, all the others definitely fit well within or beneath "compact car" dimensions.

    Anyone got any opinions on and experiences with the Volkswagen Golf to share ? Not the GTI version but I'm talking about the plain jane bone stock one. As far as quality and reliability goes I'd like to hear what your take is on this particular car from your experience of owning one. Anyone ?

    • @ezralabandeira3552
      @ezralabandeira3552 Před 2 lety

      idk if this is late but i own a diesel variant of the golf, meaning i drive a different car brand but it's owned by vw and the car in question is a rebadged golf tdi. Reliability is ok but the ecu sucks. Whenever you try and have fun the car immediately wants to go into limp mode and starts guzzling fuel like a truck. Keep in mind it's a 3 cylinder lightweight base fwd tdi hatchback and it still manages to guzzle because it'll enter limp mode whenever you hit the highway or drive for more than 20 minutes

    6.2 sec 0-60 and 14.6 sec 1/4 mile from a modern 321 hp v6 w/ rwd and 3500 lbs? How does that work? a 17 year old Integra type R does 0-60 in 6.5 sec and 14.6 1/4 mile. Other FWDs from long ass time ago is quicker, matter of fact heavier and less powered Grand Prix GXP did 0-60 in like 5.9 sec and 14 sec flat quarter mile... even the V6 GTP variant was capable of 14.7 1/4 mile... • @rsj005

    Looks - Good... Powertrains - OK, Price - Badddd...! Way too expensive! If GM had these staring price of $28000 & not $38000, they may have had a real 3 series contender & sold a ton, but at this price range no, not for Cadillac! Only when a car company comes out with a luxury coupe, that is priced right, looks good & has low maintenance costs will it be a 3 series contender.

    • @Stressless2023
      @Stressless2023 Před 9 lety +4

      What premium midsized coupe do you think you can buy for $28,000? You can barely get leather seats in your dime-a-dozen Honda Accord for that price. Like it or not, "Cadillac" is a premium brand, so saying the ATS coupe should start at $28k is ridiculous.

    • @rsj005
      @rsj005 Před 9 lety

      SuchANiceGirl22 And that is my point...! There isn't any lux coupe priced correctly for entry level... So therefore in my opinion they would sell a lot more if they did bring the price down. And that is not ridiculous. If lets say Acura, Lexus, or Infiniti did it, trust me they will outsell the ATS .

    • @Stressless2023
      @Stressless2023 Před 9 lety +3

      No. Your initial comment mentions nothing regarding "all" midsized luxury coupes being overpriced in your opinion. In fact, you said that the ATS would only be competitive with BMW's equivalent offering if it were priced at $28k, which is over $10k less than the BMW (the 428i starts at over $40k). So apparently only BMW has the right to price their vehicles the way that they do in your mind. Your response is full of nothing besides speculation and personal bias against Cadillac. A premium brand isn't supposed to cater to buyers on a budget, and Cadillac is a premium brand as I said.

      Protector of the Republic Identical? According to whom? Using this very channel's same tested data, the 435i went 0-60 in 5.1 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 13.6. The Caddie went 6.2 and 14.6. That's not identical, son. (BTW, other publications have clocked the 435i 0-60 between 4.4 and 4.9 seconds)
