    Great program gentlemen. I have an ancestor who was in the 14th Virginia under Armisted. Though hit in the left shoulder during the charge, he survived. Thanks for your work.

    Great job, glad you all survived a pretty brisk day! Two suggestions for future similar ventures if you care to entertain them: (1) your orientation maps were great but it took a while for you to show them. I was actually unsure where you were at as you moved south to stage the charge, so showing your location on a map more regularly would have helped. (2) I know a lot happened along the roads, but don't select roadsides as your stopping points. Traffic noise is bad and I fear for your lives! THANK YOU to all 3 of you for providing this great service along with your knowledge!

    Outstanding! Having studied the battle of Gettysburg for close to 30 years, and watching videos and reading books and going on battlefield walks regarding Ricketts charge, and thinking I've seen and heard everything there is to hear, this video is packed full of Information and visual perspectives that I have never experienced. Great job.

    That was wonderful!
    My pet name for the charge is "Longstreet's Minor Assault at Gettysburg" - but, well, I'm a bit biased...
    If you are looking for ideas to tack onto the list - you mentioned Kemper's Brigade occasionally on the tour, but I think that is also one of those walking tours you have to "see" to really understand the magnitude of what they accomplished. I was very (very!) fortunate to have a tour w/ LBG Jim Martin (RIP) a long, long time ago on it, and that is still one of my favorite all-time GB tours.
    Thanks so much for doing this!

    Awesome vid ! Read many books and been to Gettysburg several times. But this certainly has been an eye opener for me. Looking on a map is one thing, but actually seeing how far forward Garnett's brigade was really makes one see things differently. More vids like this,please!

    This video was very helpful. I have walked the fields before, but never had the perspective from the Pitzer Farm or the positiion of the 53 Va south of the Point of Woods. I have walked the Spangler Farm Lane, which helps with the topographical perspectives.

  • @Ray-vv4ey
    @Ray-vv4ey Před 4 měsíci

    Lol, I like both these guys, they are a veritable cornucopia of information, and I agree that this is a literal blow-by-blow account by individual units.
    I found the constant spinning of the camera and the changing of direction to be disorienting - but I will concede that, undeniably, the battle was indeed a swirling maelstrom, not unlike the presentation. That's not so much a criticism, as it's a reflection of the reality of this part of the battle., that being confusion, swirling action, contradictory initiatives, etc.
    So, on whole, good stuff!

    Was Pickett a little drunk and why did he not go with the charge? Its unseemly that he hung back and watched from afar when he was one of those that talked a good fight yet never was in the mix of the battle.

    The wheelbarrow itself is heavy. It takes work to push it if it's empty. The wheelbarrow is useful when the load weight is greater than you can carry and it's unwieldy. It's a terrible example of design to be proud of if you have ever used one. lol
