    it's advisable to raise the osb/drywall off of the concrete floor about a half inch or so to keep it from absorbing moisture

    Good video. I recently insulated my workshop out back with that same brand of insulation and I attached OSB over it. The difference for me is that my stud finder still finds the studs. It's the type that is about 8" long and it has about a dozen red LEDs along the top. You slide it along the wall and the LEDs light up where the stud is. We've had it for a while. I think we bought it at Sam's Club. But it still finds the studs for us. We have 7/16" OSB.

    10:55 why put the painted side against the ceiling? Would it not be easier to put the turquoise side outward? I don’t mind if my garage was all turquoise😂😂 I guess nowadays they have all different colors already applied to the panels

      IMHO and FYI - the “green” side is already prepared to be painted white or any other color, the other side is raw and absorbs/eats paint

    It is relevant to state which climate zone you are in especially with the use of a vapor barrier on the inside.

    Do you still need to use poly if you’re using drywall on the ceiling instead of plywood?

    • @TheHandyNeighbor
      @TheHandyNeighbor  Před rokem +1

      I would still yes, for the vapour barrier yes. It is a 1 hour job extra and poly is not expensive. Especially if garage is heated. Good luck.

    Can I ask how to finish OSB? I just purchased a new home with a detached garage that has insulated OSB and it looks very unfinshed with just OSB boards. Can OSB be painted or dry walled?

    • @TheHandyNeighbor
      @TheHandyNeighbor  Před rokem +2

      Yes you cover it with drywall no problem, or you can paint OSB as well with the interior paint.

    Why use OSB instead of drywall? And why put drywall over the top of OSB

    • @TheHandyNeighbor
      @TheHandyNeighbor  Před 4 měsíci +3

      I used OSB because it us better insulator thank drywall only. As well no mudding, tapping and painting and I can make screw holes with no patching after and I need no drywall anchors to hang anything.
      If you want to make is super insulated you can add osb and drywall over but i have not seen anyone doing that yet, just saying it is possible.

    • @TheHandyNeighbor
      @TheHandyNeighbor  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Why would you paint it? It looks great the way it is!
      You put drywall over it or instead of it if you don’t like the look of wood.
      And if you really want to paint the OSB/plywood you can do that as well, you just have to prime it firat with the primer.
