    Thank you for the tutorial. I think it would be really helpful to viewers if you could show the finished garments

    What I love about your bomber jacket is that it is not short, ending at the waist. Yours appears to fall closer to the hip. Is this how mine will Likely fit. Or do I need to make a length adjustment. I’m 5’4”. Also, did you sew your buttons on the back by hand or machine? I appreciate your tutorials more than I can say. Thank you.

    I love the video, but it is very different than the written instructions. When one wasn't quite clear (I'm a beginner) I would look at the other for clarification and it didn't always help. (The video shows flat method of attaching sleeves, instructions show inset method.) Would also like closer, slower video of pinning in certain areas (neck against the top of the zipper) and what to do if zipper tape is longer than garment. All that being said, I can't wait to be done and show off my proudly made bomber jacket from your cool pattern. :) And I love your calm and down to early demeanor.

      I noticed that the written instructions were slightly different too. I also noticed that some of the video instructions were not recorded in the same order that Mimi had us sew them. She has us sewing down the flaps before placing them on top of the front jacket pieces, instead of placing the flaps on top of the front pieces and then sewing them down. Was a little confusing, but I sorted thru it.

    Okay - now I'm ready to start this jacket! I bought pre-quilted fabric and wasn't sure what I should do about the pockets, which is silly, I know. Now I think I will use the lining fabric for the inside of the pocket with a light interfacing. Hope I finish it before the new year! Thanks for the tute!

    Mimi, We understand that the pattern shows the finished product. However, It would be great to give us a visual of what the finished product looks from the step by step videos you post. Thanks!

    • @reneeboyd7695
      @reneeboyd7695 Před 7 lety

      Being that she sewed this together rather quickly, many times not having the raw edges aligned perfectly, the jacket is not going to look that great. There are going to be noticeable flaws in this demo jacket. The tutorial is just to give you the general idea of how to put the pattern together. This end product is going to look very wonky and cheaply made, compared to one that is put together carefully. This is for demo purposes only!

      Renée Boyd I totally understand and respect your point. However, just like a hair stylist demonstrating a style or a chef demonstrating a recipe they always show the finished result/product. I am a visual learner so seeing as much of what the end result is going to be works for me and apparently others that shared similar comments to this video. Appreciate your comment. Peace.

      +Akeya502, I understand your point in being a visual person. However, if it's not your best work you don't display poor workmanship. Especially if you are a perfectionist. Good enough, is simply not good enough to be displayed. You ball it up and throw it away, or turn it into scraps. Since she hasn't replied to any of those requests...most likely that's exactly what she did. Ijs

    • @FiliGoddess
      @FiliGoddess Před 7 lety

      I agree. It was a WHITE OUT for the video. Couldn't see shyt! The acoustic sound comes from the loft she lives/works in. I don't think it's going to change anytime soon unless they know what mic to get, but they'd still need a buffered room. Cinematography and Sound has definitely suffered recently. I'd give the quality a 5/10.

    I think the reason we don't see the finished product is because the garment in the sew along is made from pattern pieces straight from the envelope...just for demonstration purposes. If Mimi is like most of us, I'm sure adjustments must be made to some pattern pieces for her personal garments for the best fit for her body. Pattern adjustments is too much extra work on a video created merely for construction of the garment.
