That scene creeped me out so bad the first time I saw it that I double checked to see if I locked my door that night. When I checked it was actually unlocked 😳
I love how the wife give him a book and look at him as if she said, “I don’t know what you are but you are a very sick man. You need help. Soon. Now. I’ll talk if you don’t.”
There is actually ONE SINGLE moment - 3:00 - when he smiles (or rather pretending smiling and laughing) - and it looks really CREEPY :) - like the corpses tried to smile.
Also, he’s laughing more at the fact his victim pool isn’t worried enough about dangerous intruders like himself to actually protect against, thus making them especially vulnerable to his attacks.
You can see as soon as he’s done the smile he immediately knows he’s almost shown his true colours so he immediately hides it and looks concerned that he let himself show that much
Creepiest guy in the series, the way they presented and showed small moments of him at the start of the episodes was brilliant. Also that ending gave me chills.
KickAss_Beast I had heard of BTK but never actually looked up any details on him until I saw this show. The real photos he took of himself with the masks and wigs on gave me nightmares (literally). I didn’t even see pics of his victims, just selfies he took and it bothered me a LOT. 😟
@@daughterofolaf yeah I feel you, I like my night's sleep so I'm not about that photo research life. If the mask in the show bothered me a bit I have no desire to see the real thing
Apparently masks freak people out because it’s a part of our survival instincts to read people’s faces! Something in our brain makes us feel unsafe when we can’t do it. I kind of find that fascinating.
Throwaway That’ll stay That’s interesting. I was never sure why seeing his selfies with that mask felt so upsetting. I’ve seen plenty of dead body pics (I was extremely morbidly curious about this stuff when I was a teen and I’ve seen things I wish I had never seen) but his self-portraits freaked me out every bit as much if not more so than some other things. Yikes.
daughterofolaf yeah it’s very interesting hey! And totally makes sense when you think about it. I remember the only thing that ever freaked me out as a kid was the idea of a Michael Myers/The Stangers type person coming after me. I never knew why masked GOT to me. Especially when I was a huge horror fan and don’t have a lot of fears (same with the having seen a lot in life). Pictures of dead bodies never scare me.. a live person concealing their face with a mask with a fixed expression though? Eeek. Unsettling af! I’d rather see a balaclava than a mask. 😬
Mindhunter has really good lookalike actors for the serial killers. I think the best lookalikes are David Berkowitz, Charles Manson and Dennis Rader. It's brilliant how a little hairdo and makeup can do to bring these characters to the screen.
Season 3 ain't happening till 2022/23. I can see Bundy's interview about the Green River killer happening, also Gacy and the arrest of the Night Stalker set in the mid 80s. BTK & Kemper need more screen time. Interesting if they talk about the unsolved Zodiac case.
@@wyatthill6252 No, Bundy will already be caught. It's better for the viewer to hear about the crime and picture it instead of showing what he done. The show's not graphic in violence, so you can get more from the dialogue used in the interview.
6:17 This scene is pure genius. The way the fire reflects in his glasses, giving him the eyes of the devil and foreshadowing the evil acts he was going to commit.
I binged season 1 in one night and was so sleepy I completely missed this guy's story. Could you please explain what was this guy's role? What crimes did he do?
The crazy thing was he was actually getting away with sending the letters. However the reason he got caught from the letters is because at a certain point he started sending them all from his church’s computer and they were able to trace the computer.
@prod. HxxTxk He sent them a floppy disk which had data still on it, he had used this floppy disk at his church and on his computer. After this they got a warrant for his daughters dna and compared it to DNA found at a BTK crime scene... It was a familial match.
He read an article in the early 2000s that said he was likely dead and he started sending letters again then leaving packages. He then asked the police if they could trace a floppy disk and they put an ad in the newspaper saying no they couldn't. So he sent a floppy disk as a test and it lead them to the church computer and they found him. Though actually he left his initials in one of his earlier letters that was missed by investigators.
It’s frightening to know this killer lived close to me. I now have double locks and check my doors and windows because of this guy…not that it makes a huge difference. In this show they make him creepy but in real life he came across somewhat friendly and normal. I still get chills knowing what I didn’t know then.
There's a man I work with who is the pure spit of Dennis radar, same face and mannerisms and all but he's way too dumb and stupid to be a serial killer so I ain't worried. He that's dumb he was walking home from the pub one night, facing the wind, so he turned around to light his cigarette, he forgot to turn back around again so ended up back at the pub.
The actor, the eerie music in the background. The little things, details - like how he flinches or rather gets even more alert when the dog barks. Such a brilliant production. David Fincher, the cast and crew should be proud. We are unlucky that the project was abandoned. Please make a season 3, 4, 5, 6 and more. Staying tuned.
I think this was to show what the series always said through different characters: Eventually they look normal, they walk among people, nobody notices those serial killers. And that's how the show introduces BTK, as a normal guy with day to day stuff he does, walks on the street, or at the library. You're not even sure if he's before a murder or after one. Really impressed by that show. Amazing.
Man there was alot of creepy dudes in the whole series and I really didn't mind btk's character UNTIL the very last scene that was just so creepy literally gave me nightmares
He also voiced a character on either Madden or NBA 2k... I just remember playing and thinking to myself "why the hell does my coach sound like Ed Kemper in these cut scenes
They presented him in bits and pieces because they only had bits and pieces of who he was becoming...while other murders were being solved this mf was moving about doing stuff in the background until he got ready to expose himself to the world like hey I'm a serial killer too look at me
6:03 In this scene the owner of this house was supposed to return from a party at night. So BTK was waiting for her return so that he can do his torture thing. But the female owner decided to do a night over at the party. So BTK kept waiting for a long time. This made him really angry and frustrated and guess he could do nothing because he can't leave a clue that he was there. That owner is still alive.

I love this story structure where they touch back on a currently active serial killer and in a slightly ambiguous way until the details get fleshed out. He's looming out there. To quote Donald Kaufman, "it's just... good... writing."
Sonny Valicenti (the actor on the video above) was SO PERFECT in this role. I don't know the real killer's behaviour, but this guy really scared the shit out of me, so I CRAVE for the season 3. It's so sad, so UNFAIR that Netflix can't do this show anymore, I'm mad and disappointed...

@@chantalm9393 And i'm sure most of them stopped watching it after first 3 episodes. First 3 episodes were very slow. Only from 4th episode the whole series gets interesting.
What a beautiful thrilling show , too bad we only got 2 seasons of when in comparison some lame teenage shows never stop coming. Holden is my favorite character, he is the badass one for me in this show and also the most misunderstood one ❤️
The thing that pisses me off about so many serial killers is that they could have gotten away with had they not taunted the police by sending letters and gloating and confessing? Who does that? The scene of him waiting for his victim to come home, and no one coming home, was actually kind of amusing.
He left her a note saying he was btk, and he was there waiting for her.
I’m so bummed that season 3 was cancelled. Really hope Netflix go out on a limb and get this show back together again.
Really? Dang, I was looking forward to it!
It’s on a break. Hasn’t been cancelled yet.
That little fit he throws in the kitchen always makes me laugh. I feel guilty every time because I know he really did wait for one of his victims (Anna) & later said he was livid when she didn't come home as expected.
I think it’s funny and feel no guilt. I am super glad a would-be victim managed to evade death and at the same time caused such an evil person to be upset. To me it’s a win-win-win. She survived, his day was ruined and we get pleasure out of his DISpleasure. 😄
I like how he stomps into the kitchen.

@@PherioxusHe wasn’t hyping himself up. He was angry because he waited and waited for the would-be victim but she never arrived so he had to abandon his murder plans.

I remember seeing the rope on the door scene and was really freaked out. They did such a great job building the creepiness around the btk. I love this show and have have been waiting forever for season 3 to drop!
Actually, TWO moments. 13:15
Also, he’s laughing more at the fact his victim pool isn’t worried enough about dangerous intruders like himself to actually protect against, thus making them especially vulnerable to his attacks.
I thought he gonna kill her there
You can see as soon as he’s done the smile he immediately knows he’s almost shown his true colours so he immediately hides it and looks concerned that he let himself show that much
Seems like Dwight from The Office

bright red balloon haha oop! You’re right! I was thinking of Anthony Hopkins/Hannibal lector in Silence of the lambs. 😆

Creepiest guy in the series, the way they presented and showed small moments of him at the start of the episodes was brilliant. Also that ending gave me chills.
This dude really creeped me out. The dude and the mask, I don't know what it is about the mask but my brain really doesn't like it, at all
KickAss_Beast I had heard of BTK but never actually looked up any details on him until I saw this show.

I binged season 1 in one night and was so sleepy I completely missed this guy's story.
Could you please explain what was this guy's role? What crimes did he do?
@@itishpaul5797 He’s Dennis Raider, the Bind Torture Killer.
The crazy thing was he was actually getting away with sending the letters. However the reason he got caught from the letters is because at a certain point he started sending them all from his church’s computer and they were able to trace the computer.
@prod. HxxTxk
He sent them a floppy disk which had data still on it, he had used this floppy disk at his church and on his computer.
I wish they made it more clear where these scenes were taking place.

Well, many serial killers acts normal when they are with someone
I bet he was close to this when he was alone
The actor, the eerie music in the background. The little things, details - like how he flinches or rather gets even more alert when the dog barks. Such a brilliant production. David Fincher, the cast and crew should be proud. We are unlucky that the project was abandoned. Please make a season 3, 4, 5, 6 and more. Staying tuned.
I have been looking for these scenes all together for ages, really good job. You should do this for a season 3 super cut.
Amazing.
I know it’s an expensive show because of the period setting, but it was incredible. Please can we petition Netflix for season 3.
