    ■ What I LIKE and DON'T LIKE about the NOMAD, and my FINAL VERDICT. 100% honest review.
    The NOMAD is a starter ship of Star Citizen.
    Released in version 3.11 in 2020, it is the second major ship release from Consolidated Outland. With its unique design, the goal of the Nomad was to offer an affordable, versatile ship built with cutting-edge technologies. But has Consolidated Outland achieved that?

    I own several ships and decided to give the Nomad a go (i used to play ED and had the Asp Explorer which apparently its based on). I honestly love it.. its now my daily ❤

    Again, agreed completely! This is one of my two ships*, and my biggest grip is that the walls are strangely thick. The internal design could definitely make use of more room for a shower and a better cargo area. The tractor beam has also been super useful for me, though it can be difficult to maneuver large boxes into the cargo area.
    * Nomad and 400i are my two ships. By way of loaners I have a 325a and an Aurora but I rarely use them.

    It's the only ship I own, I updraded it from Aurora and love it's aesthetic. One of the only think I would like to see changed on this ship, is actually the thing they kind of teased in the docs, I thought there will be options in the future to modify the cargo bed with modules, but it not seem to be part of the plan anymore.

    Couldn’t agree more. I have a nomad in my hangar and I always want to love it more… but I share your criticisms of the design. Also the stock power plant doesn’t seem robust enough.

    I choose to believe some of those holes above the toilet is a shower or even a steam shower.

    OMG I didn't know that there were weapon racks! This is a huge game changer for me! Nomad is by far my favorite starter, with the ability to do some lucrative cargo hauling and ROC mining, along with the great aesthetic!

    • @ViniciusConsorte
      @ViniciusConsorte Před 11 měsíci +1

      ROC, Weapon Rack, good balance of weapons and shield, reasonable agility, more cargo in the price range.
      The NOMAD is good, as of right now, you can get a Titan or lower Pack, upgrade to the RELIANT KORE, and get a nomad as loaner, dont know for how long, but it lets you try it... and if you end up liking you can upgrade de Kore to the nomad for 15 more bucks.
      Id recomend anyone starting the game to get a PISCES or CUTTER as starter, then upgrade to the titan, then kore/nomad combo....
      Or if you like what you have below that, buy the rest ingame.

      Great suggestion, always consider the loaner to get the best value, even if it's temporary. Well done!

    Great video. Personally I would prefer if instead of a larger cargo bed that wide gap was made into a small airlock to allow direct access to the bed and prevent decompression when that mechanic comes into the game.

    I've been out of the country with no internet for 2 weeks... so happy to see this posted when I got home! Another fantastic vid! You do the best, most thorough reviews, and I love how you go the extra mile to show what your recommendations would look like.
    I knew you would knock it for the lack of windows in the living area, and I agree.
    I don't really care for the separation of the living area and the rear area. I think they should be a single room, with an airlock at the ladder like the Freelancer. This would make the interior feel more expansive and less like sleeping in a closet.
    I love the Nomad and it's probably my favorite runabout. It's really a shame that more ships don't have the same versatility of the Nomad.

    Nomad is overlooked all the time, for PvE it is pretty much as good as the Avenger Titan. Only about 300k in game more than the Avenger. But it is way more expensive in real life, and only slightly cheaper than the Cutty. The nomad was killed by the price, and is pretty rare to see in the game, even though it is great for ROC mining and pve multirole.

    I love this ship - but the hydrogen situation really is all about CIG engineering in an Achilles heal. I'm convinced they ensure that no ship can be too good.

    • @gioru5
      @gioru5  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Mmm this would explain a lot of thing. They should have nerfed something else imo, high hydrogen consumption makes no sense on this ship. Thanks!

  • @nilsgerdes6747
    @nilsgerdes6747 Před 11 měsíci +2

    I started Playing the game shortly before the Nomad was released. I can accept the higher consumption due to the higher mass, but as you correctly say, I gains nothing from being that heavy. Either reduce the mass and with that the fuel sonsumption or beef up it's bulky armour!
    I immediatly fell in love with this ship, It is something that I would buy if Star citizen were real life!. I love the desing and features but I cannot believe it doesn't have a shower! What the hell was Silas overseeing?
    Good video, great job. Thanks!

    Thank you for this.
    I am looking out for the next one and there is something I spotted on the Titan.
    The Price for the gamepackage was about 70 - 75 Euro 2 months ago. Then it raised to about 90 Euro. Now it is on 83 Euro.
    For beginners its maybe interesting to watch this if they want to go for an upgrade.

    Damn, the Nomad is unfortunately the one ship in Star Citizen I like the least by far.
    I just think that this thing is incredibly ugly, the cargo bay feels extremely unsafe, the toilet is really uncomfortable, it's missing the rest of the bathroom and the hover landing gear makes zero sense and is a waste of energy (I know it works while the ship is shut down, but realisticly it would still use up power from the internal battery without giving any advantages over conventional landing gear).
    Also I just very much dislike a lot of it's other details which I can't really put into words.
    Yes this ship is inarguably very useful, but in games it's always design over function for me.
    Great video again, I always enjoy your detailed ship reviews, even if it's a ship I personally just can't stand (and I'm glad you share some of my complaints about the design as well, especially about the landing gear).
    PS: I also constantly confuse that ship with the Mantis because it looks like a Manta Ray and "Manta" and "Mantis" just sound very similar.

    The Nomad is a fine ship. I wouldn't call it great. My main issue is the IRL price. If you're going to splurge on a bigger ship, just spend $10 more and get a Cutlass Black.
    It's cargo bay is a pro and a con. You can load cargo without compromising your ship's security. 👍
    But then anyone with a tractor beam can steal everything out of your totally exposed cargo bed. 👎

    Believe me when I tell you that if you are constant and maintain the level you will grow a lot. I have an infallible radar that has never failed me. You are a diamond in the rough. I would perhaps take the opportunity to make a video about the DRAKE CORSAIR, which is possibly the one that will win an award in this Ship Showdown
    Edit: And because I'm very interested to see what you think of the ship.

      😄 at the same price of the Cutter, you can get a C8X (that I've just reviewed). The C8X is pretty cool and, in my opinion, a better alternative to the Cutter

  • @istvan5674
    @istvan5674 Před 8 měsíci +1

    I disagree with your assessment of the Nomad as an 8/10. I know, it is subjective and merely your opinion, just like it is my opinion that the Nomad is just plain fugly. I find the Nomad to be a hybrid daily driver and "space pick-up truck" with the same weaknesses as others that have when trying to do too much with too little chassis. Remember that CIG has compared the MISC Freelancer and Drake Cutlass as "space pick-up trucks" with a rivalry of Ford vs. Chevy. Well, the Nomad isn't adding the Dodge Ram to the line up, it is more like a small Mazda B2000 or a Suzuki Carry mini-truck with about half the cargo capacity of the larger rivals. As a starter, it should be that step up from an Avenger Titan or whatever bottom tier cargo ship you were considering but it is priced too high, is too inefficient (which is more a balance issue), and lacks the one amenity, a shower, that keeps it from being a live aboard ship. (The Cutty has the same issue since the Devs removed the toilet and it never had a shower.) It is one ship I've never considered adding to my extensive fleet, like the Terrapin, another vessel that is too big to be a solo ship and too expensive for what it brings to the table.

    • @gioru5
      @gioru5  Před 8 měsíci

      You bring up valid points about the Nomad's limitations compared to other ships like the Freelancer and Cutlass. It's true, the Nomad has its weaknesses and might be considered overpriced for what it offers. The absence of a shower does impact its liveability. Despite this, I still find its high versatility and low claim time make it a strong starter ship, in my view. ;)
