The Oxford Bibles that were given out on to Confirmants in the New Apostolic Church had the King James Apocrypha's fourteen books. I still have the one I received 48 years ago.
More recently, I was able to buy 2 versions of the New Oxford Annotated Bible that had an even more comprehensive collection of apocryphal books by including English translations of books found in various Eastern Orthodox canons besides those included in either Roman Catholic or Protestant Canons. I also purchased a Harper-Collins study Bible which also included a more extensive Apocrypha, for example a third and fourth book of Maccabees and Psalm 151.
These purchases were made at large chain bookstores such as Barnes and Nobles about 20 to 30 years ago. Sadly these more inclusive Bibles with their scholarly prefaces, annotations, and explanatory chapters are no longer available off the shelf in such stores in the USA and Canada. The majority of Bibles to be found in these types of stores are now evangelical publications with only the Old and New Testaments and a distinctly conservative Protestant bias to any commentary added to the text.

    • @scottbrandon6244
      @scottbrandon6244 Před rokem +4

I also find it hard to find alternative translations in most bookstores. They are focused on the KJV, RKJV, NRSV, NIV, and NASB. There are many other versions which they don't carry. The New Oxford Annotated Bible does look interesting. I am looking for a good Bible Concordance if you could recommend any versions. I also want to buy a good Bible Commentary, but they are maybe 20 volume sets and cost a lot.

    • @williamarends7138

@scottbrandon6244 l apologize for replying to you 8 days later. I have two versions of 'The New Oxford Annotated Bible with the Apocrypha' Revised Standard Version originally printed in 1962. I have the 2nd edition printed in 1977. This edition is edited by Herbert G, May of Oberlin College and Vanderbilt University, and Bruce M. Metzger of the Princeton Theological Seminary both Doctors of Theology, who though Conservative in outlook were not opposed to new interpretations of Scripture as indicated by modern archeological discoveries philosophical discourse. There is a general introduction to the Bible, a short introduction to the Old Testament, another short intro to the New Testament, and extensive annotations to the texts through page 1514. After that, there are short articles on understanding the Bible written from a conservative theological perspective; then an article on the 'Modern Approaches to Biblical Study', which gives a brief overview of Literary, Form, Redaction, and Historical context criticism; a short essay on the, 'Characteristics of Hebrew Poetry', an article on the, 'Literary Forms of the Gospels'; and finally a, 'Survey of the Geography, History, and Archaeology of the Bible Lands'. This is followed by some historical charts and an index. The last section of this volume has a seventeen page preface and a 340-page RSV of the Apocrypha. The last pages are of fourteen maps.
The other RSV New Oxford Bible in my Library is the Augmented Third Edition of 2007, Michael D. Coogan editor of the Harvard Divinity School. There are many other contributors with both the prefaces and introductions to the sections and the books of this version of the Bible being much more extensive than the 2nd edition. It has a more open-ended and less conservative view of Biblical studies than is to be found in the prior 2nd edition.
The Harper Collins Study Bible, a New Annotated Edition by the Society of Biblical Literature printed 1993, is the third version of the RSV that I own. Wayne A. Meeks of Yale University is the general editor of this volume. It is annotated as well, but with fewer essays.
Instead of a concordance, I have a copy of the Harper's Bible Dictionary printed 1985, general editor Paul J. Achtemeier of the Union Theological Seminary of Richmond, Virginia. It has 1178 pages followed by 16 maps.
All of these Bibles and the Biblical Dictionary are available, especially in the secondary book market. Amazon also carries some of these versions. I have seen prices ranging from $20 to $70, probably taking the condition of the book into account.

Protestants ignore the Catholic Church gave the Holy Bible to the world. They rewrote it after the Protestant reformation, deleted verses, chapters and changed wording to both the Holy Bible and The Ten Commandments Protestants ignore that Jesus Christ wants everyone to be His One True Apostolic Catholic (Universal) Church.
John 10:16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold, and I must lead them. They shall hear my voice, and there shall be one sheepfold and one shepherd.
John 17:20 But I am not praying for them only, but also for those who through their word shall believe in me.
John 17:21 So may they all be one. Just as you, Father, are in me, and I am in you, so also may they be one in us: so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
John 17:22 And the glory that you have given to me, I have given to them, so that they may be one, just as we also are one.
John 17:23 I am in them, and you are in me. So may they be perfected as one. And may the world know that you have sent me and that you have loved them, just as you have also loved me.
John 17:24 Father, I will that where I am, those whom you have given to me may also be with me, so that they may see my glory which you have given to me. For you loved me before the founding of the world.
Ephesians 4:4 One body and one Spirit: to this you have been called by the one hope of your calling:
Ephesians 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Ephesians 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.
In fact, He taught those who don’t stay in His doctrine, He set in His Church, don’t have Him.
2 John 1:9 Everyone who withdraws and does not remain in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. Whoever remains in the doctrine, such a one as this has both the Father and the Son.
Hebrews 13:9 Do not be led away by changing or strange doctrines. And it is best for the heart to be sustained by grace, not by foods. For the latter have not been as useful to those who walked by them.
Galatians 1:7 For there is no other, except that there are some persons who disturb you and who want to overturn the Gospel of Christ.
Galatians 1:8 But if anyone, even we ourselves or an Angel from Heaven, were to preach to you a gospel other than the one that we have preached to you, let him be anathema.
Galatians 1:9 Just as we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone has preached a gospel to you, other than that which you have received, let him be anathema.

No final determination of the Catholic canon was made before Trent, and the Church definitively excluded certain deuterocanonicals at that time. The Clementine Vulgate also contained many books which would ultimately be rejected by Trent, 3/4 Esdras, Prayer of Manasseh, etc.
The Vulgate and Trent also included Baruch, which the council of Rome initially rejected, and the West seems to have nearly always rejected the Shepherd of Hermas, in spite of it being included in Sinaiticus. There is no static canon before Trent.

Book Worship is idolatry. It's your God you should be worshiping .
You have the same to access god or gods as any author of any holy book.
Reading stories of the god experiences of others could be reading lies, results of mental illness or fictions to support the church they want you to join and support.
If a God is real, you should be able to verify that presence yourself. Don't be led by others or by their stories.
Be willing to fail in your pursuit of your god. The World is more accessible now than it has ever been.
I embarked on my god quest about 60 years ago. I've been keeping an eye open for God evers since. The Apocrypha was removed from the canon because it is pseudepigrapha. These books are not Theopneustos. Therefore, they are not trustworthy. You must be born again before attempting interpretation of scripture. For you to mention such foolishness is abominable. The word of God is clear. It is Theopneustos! God Breathed and perfectly translated to us today. But understanding comes only through the Holy Spirit of God. 1Cor. 1-2. Only a Spirit filled believer can comprehend the spiritual truth within.
