- This video takes a closer look of the anatomy of clear coat, the clear, thin, protective layer protecting the gorgeous color of your car, truck, or motorcycle. I will also demonstrate different ways to do paint enhancements. A great way to step beyond offering basic cleanings in your detailing routine.

See if you see a difference between HD Speed and 3D One....Curious to see if you see a difference
Thank you again Mr. Brian, I think I may go this route vs the 04/06. A lot of info on this clear coat subject. An 8 month old car with white soft maybe just what it needs. A little clarity, saving the medium cut for a later time.
Look forward to it!
Pick up a 16 oz bottle today.
Awesome! :D You need wayyyyyyyyyyyy more subs. Way more.
Just wanted to thank you for the knowledge you give out ( and Dallas Paint Protection) .. I just finished a paint correction on my 85 year old moms car..she is VERY impressed ( and car was in great shape)
I used both Sonex and Griots for the job :)
Killer combo there...I am sure it turned out cherry!👌🏻
Very good video, Thanks Brian , it's nice to learn about the Clear Coats makeup. Good to have a clear understanding of what car's paint is layed down.
As always straight forward and clear without BS
Thanks!
Patrick Roos 😁👍🏻
Thank you very much Brian!, again an excellent and crystal clear video!!
Top notch channel sir!!
Loops And Threads Thanks!!
Gongatulations sir.....finaly someone in yutube come forward and talks about the clear coat and the top.layer......unfortunatelly pro detailers dont know...or dont want to talk about it...and as a result customers require..show room perfection every time they polish their...daily driver..because that they saw on videos......and pro detailers are agree to do it...!!!!!!!! They afraid or dont know the truth
There is give and take. It is up to us to find the perfect balance.
Thanks Brian I have learned so much from you about the products u use and how to use them thanks again and keep up the excellent work

Ton of information are here (y), thank you Brian.
As always, very informative and interesting. I watch all of your videos and learn something everytime. Top notch.
I am happy they help a bit 🙂
Really good video and plenty to think about.
Clear coat preservation is not talked about enough by a lot of detailers out there.
I always try and park in the shade in the summer and try to keep my car out of direct sunlight as much as possible to help maintain my clearcoat as long as possible.
Proactive thinking!👍🏻👍🏻
Brian, EXCELENT video, if you get tired of doing cars, you have a future in making 'how to' videos for some craftsmen that do not know how to make and edit videos. Think about it.
I would help in any way I could.🙂
Thank you for this great teaching video. Always enjoy your videos have been so helpful to me as I learn about car detailing. I just take care of my own vehicles and I do not want to damage them.
I am happy they help a bit.🙂
Fantastic video! Tons of info here!

Another great video B!!!
James Biedlar 👍🏻thanks!!
Great info, excited to see the follow ups to this one. It's kind of like the dark side of detailing, that business owners need to be aware of.
It shouldnt be a dark side, its fact.🙂

Sean The Detail Guy glad these vids help a bit.

Olabode Taiwo Owolabi 🙂👍🏻
Great video Brian. I’m looking forward to the wet sanding video.
Working on it.🙂
Enhancements !!! I definitely need more info on this. Does Griot's have a paint Enhancement product ? I'd like to know what sealant to use after enhancements
Thank you

Only you and Scott are even bringing up clear coat longevity. My Honda, black of course & daily driver, was hammered as it sat on the dealers lot for 9 months. Wish I'd been more educated on clear coat longevity. I used DK's Blue Diamond w a TourqX and Oarnge pad, then Chem guys v34 both followed with a black pad and StS 3000 polymer sealant. Then used Griots Fast Correcting w a White hex, then sealant again trying to get all the imperfections. As winter approaches in NJ, I'm afraid to do anything else. I have Griots Perfecting cream, I was planning on using it as part of my winter prep to get some of the marring and towel marks leveled down before sealant. Should I even bother? Alot of Honda owners already complain that their clear coat is being beat up while daily driving, leaving paint chips, and road rash. Guess I'll just use the perfecting cream, white LCC pad no pressure and follow up with sealant. This is an eye opener!
As beginner i want to know also what preparation need do before making an enhancement. Wash, decontamination chemical and mecanichal?
Have you tried Mothers professional line and mark V? So far, loving it!
Sheik's Detail mark v has good product, I use meguirs and car beauty pro products like the strawberry glossy wax , but non of that means nothing if you don’t have a good da polisher, I started with HF cheap crappy da then went to PC decent but not great, finally I got a super deal on a flex and man I tell you the work comes out beautiful.
I have not.
I’ve also heard they are good
140⭕️ is the average temp in Arizona, Good video.

Sonax Perfect Polish.
what was the green foam pad you used with the black panel ?
Can Griot's Boss finishing sealant be used as a Enhancement ?
Hey question where did you get the yellow backing plate for the buffer? Thank you in advance👍
Autotopia or Autogeek.
do you sir , have any clue, how much in...anerage of cource,.....maybe a 2 stage correction can remove clear coat, maybe 2-3μ of the total 50? do you have any information? i know it is difficult because it depende on the machine the compound e.y.c but in average how much clezar coat we loose in a average 2 step correction??
What speed was the machine at on the white hood?
Hi Bryan big fan...i am considering in buying a 21mm polisher wish one would you recomend? My budget is between $250 to $300 i make from 2 to 5 paint corrections a month

Hey friend i've tested 2 weeks more the dressings and PERL appeared to be the best :)
Wolf's black looked the best on a dry car (strangely,it surprised me) but after a degreaser/wash the best was PERL and then T1 .
Didn't liked Endurance tho, too greasy it flew off the tyre after the degresing.
The tyre looked dirty ,like being greased.
sorry to change always the topic 😂😂😂😥😥😥
Sounds like Perl outperformed in that case.👍🏻👍🏻
@@apexdetail85 It's even diluted 1:1
Took the car on holidays 13 00 miles , trough heavy rain, even a small flood ( like a foot and half high) and stayed perfect for 1 week.
Still did got hydrorepellency after 3 weeks.
what do you think im using the AngelWax aio ?
Great video. I ordered some IGL quartz + and want to make my 02 4Runner look it's best before coating. It's silver metallic. I was planning on sonax perfect finish with orange lake country force pad followed by angelwax perfect polish on a black pad to get the most out of the old paint. I have cutmax and microfibers too but I don't think it needs that much aggression. Sound like a decent plan?
I'm not Brian obviously but yes that sounds like a solid plan. Make sure you do a test spot thou starting out with the least agressive combo of pads and polishes that you have because sometimes you will be surprised at what you get, and you might say "you know this looks good enough!" and by going that route you will have removed the least amount of clear to get the job done.
nailbomb3 good point. I will for sure do some testing first. Just waiting for my angelwax polish to come in. Customs has been slowing it down for weeks 😭
I completely agree with nailbomb☝🏻
Cheers Brian, and thanks :)
how long would you spend doing a hood with a one stage?
ViHi, greeting from Puerto Rico. I am new in this industry and I have a question. When you offer a 1 step polish, do you have to do a exterior detailing and after a 1 step polish. How I suppose to charge, a exterior detailing rate plus the 1 step polish rate, or the rate of 1 step polish cover all the job. Sorry for my English is not good. I hope I explain well.
Greetings! When it comes to price.. check the going rate in your area as rates vary greatly.
@Apex Detail Do you prime your foam pads in any way? Thanks
Yes.. with a few squirts of Angelwax QED.
Is that why dodge s paint is so soft?
So .... the best protection is to keep product on your car throughout its life. If the clear coat is gone will waxing and sealants still help?
Every bit of protection you can provide throughout the ownership of your car will help.
So what you're saying is that the uv protection built into the clearcoat is 1/2 way gone after 5 yrs and that's assuming no paint correction is done. After that if you don't keep up with sealants or coatings the paint will oxidize much faster and if it's corrected with compounding you dam well better keep it protected..
That is exactly what I want to get across. Not every paint finish will be affected the same way. But it is something to keep in mind.
That info is making me rethink if i should do any paint correction to my mother's car. Its a dark blue 2008 honda accord. Kept outside I've waxed it over the years but never any compounding. it's at the point where it might need it. The paint is ok and the car doesn't get driven that much as she's getting older (85). It has a few scratches and swirls but not much oxidation. She's not too picky but I want to keep the car in decent shape as it's probably the last car she'll own. Any advice would be appreciated. Thx
white toast perhaps a glaze - it has very mild abrasives as well as fillers to make the paint pop - if you keep it waxed it should be fine for 12 months or so...
Klasse is in session👍

M’y wife doesn’t need to beg for attention she gets a lot. Lol
0.0 Mils for dodge? Wow. So nothing at all
