    Wonder how those wheels handle the crosswinds! Of course, specially the front one! This set up is almost as clean as it gets... you could say it misses integrated hydration but i would much rather have that bottle behind the elbows than an integrated storage

    • @LarsRR
      @LarsRR Před rokem

      The front wheel is a little so so. It not super bad, but it does feel more twitchy than a good deep section.

      @@LarsRR hi...can you and anyone else that would like to, help me with info about these, Black inc. 5 spoke wheels and any other 3,5, or 6 spoke wheel? I like they way that they look, and would like them for my road bike. Some are just as lightweight as deep carbon spoke wheels. My understanding is that they will be super stiff, taking away the suspension of wire spokes, for a harsher ride. I see that you mentioned crosswind effects. Even though these 3-6 spoke wheels are designed for aero, is that spoke wall more evident because of the thicker spokes, compared to a wire wheel that has a deeper rim, making no difference? Also, would you say that the 3-6 spoke wheels may be better fit for a heavier rider? I have 58/62 wheel depth, and the wind does not effect me as much as it seems to others with even smaller wheel depths, as I am a heavier rider, im guessing. I do club riding through mountains, flats on my own, and my favorite is speeding downhills, safely. I wonder how these 3-6 spoke wheels would effect my rides. Any Info would be great, thank you.

    Brake disk heat dissipation, you know what's important? Airflow. Ah, but how much braking is needed for a tri-bike? You could have a flat course bike with next to no brakes. Are 2 brakes required? Use just one and make it an internal hub brake for the least aero drag.

    Still cant believe in the amount of top end bikes where fluid storage is still an after thought. The previous Shiv was years in front of other bikes. New Speedmax goes to show how bikes should be designed.

    • @dubistweltmeister5
      @dubistweltmeister5 Před rokem +2

      It's because they are crap. I have ridden internal bladders, proprietary aero bottles and all they do is leak, are a pain to refill, get manky, rattle, fall off etc etc. The way Joe has done it results in no aero penalty, leaking is at a minimum and when he is done with it he can just chuck it get a new one and is good to go. I have the argon now and in my opinion it is a long way ahead of the rest when it comes to being tailored to triathlon.

    The bike looks very clean. I am not sure about the tri-spoke wheels. If this concept had real aero benefits, then the big brands would use them as well. If I remember correctly, J. P. Ballard from Swiss Side made a statement that tri-spoke and four-spoke wheels behave more unstable in cross-wind situations because of their "uneven" exposition to the wind. I guess there will be 12, 18 spoke offerings for disc brake wheels in the future. Currently only Corima has such a wheel. But it has not very high rim depth and is prohibitively expensive (> 3000 $, €, £).
    I share two components: 1. the Michelin TT tyres (set upwith Vittoria latex innertubes, of course, but I am going to swap them them by Conti GP5000 TdF tubeless tyres in the next season to give tubeless a try) on my tri-bike and 2. the X-Lab on my aero road bike.
    Apart fromt this, I am intrigued by the Revolver Aeroto disc brake fairings (2nd time I see them covered on CZcams): I guess the marginal gain will be miniscule but they look veeery cool and will certainly intimidate any contender!

    As someone who want to do triathlons as a hobby and not competitively, should I get a TT bike as well as a road bike?

    • @deanb61
      @deanb61 Před rokem +4

      Depends what you mean by triathlons really. If you're talking sprint and Olympic distances, then no. If you're talking flatish ironman's like Barcelona then yes, even the cheapest 2nd hand TT bike will be significantly faster than any road bike. Hilly courses like Wales, Lanzarote or Bolton, probably not necessary, but the TT bike will still be faster.

    • @triathlonlen
      @triathlonlen Před rokem +1

      if its for one or two races then dont bother but if times are important then TT all day long.

    You said Joe was "done with tubeless". Can you please explain why?

    • @ScottWaltonDev
      @ScottWaltonDev Před rokem

      I’m not sure but Michelin Power TT can’t run tubeless anyway. With a latex tube, they’re within 1W of the fastest tubeless tyres and I’ve never had problems with grip on them.
      The only issue I have with them is they can be a little too wide for some older bikes.

    • @CatManDoSocial
      @CatManDoSocial Před rokem

      @@ScottWaltonDev Good points. However, technically not being able to run tubules is vastly different than saying that you're "done with tubeless".
