- Owls are back! The Screech Owls are nesting in the new Songbird Essentials Screech Owl Nest Box that I just put up in February. The owls were ignoring the old nest box from last year and fearing a lost season I put up a new nest box with a quality Green Backyard nest box camera and they moved in - better late than never.

How do you keep wasps out of the birdhouses
Rub a bar of soap over the underside of the roof.
How high off the ground is your owl box? I have one just like that but haven’t put it up yet.
Its only about 9 feet off the ground on the gable end of the house in the shade. Importantly there is a large tree right next to it - the owls don't like to cross a lot of open area to get to the nest. Good Luck BB
@@MyBackyardBirding Thank you. I’m in Maryland, so we get a little bit of all 4 seasons. I’ll look it up to see when they nest here so I can try to figure out where to best place it. I’ve got to worry about squirrels too lol, but I’m surrounded by trees.
Do you ever get afraid the owls will pick on your squirrel buddies for snacks? I would be scared that I would attract a predator to eat my squirrels...🦉vs.🐿️
The screech owls are too small to take on the squirrels and they work different shifts!
