- Today we are re creating Jack Haley's Tin Man from Metro Goldwyn Mayor's 1939 original classic, The Wizard of Oz.
What I used to create this look..
Bald cap - either Mehron bald cap kit - $32.00, or Woochie bald cap - $11.00 online - $19.99 in stores is recommended
Crayola Model Magic- I would get get or white if they have it. I used what I already had.
Spirit gum - I recommend Mehron or Ben Nye when using prosthetics. ( if you purchase the Mehron bald cap kit, it will include spirit gum, spirit gum remover, liquid latex + everything needed to apply )
Mehron - silver metallic body paint
Black eye liner - any
black liquid liner - any
black mascara - any
Ben Nye - final seal or Mehron - Barrier spray ( to seal your make up for all night wear.)
What I Bought...
Poster Board - $10.00
Spray paint - $14.00
googley eyes - $8.88 / amazon
Elastic - $10.00
Pants and gloves purchased at same time and were $25.00 together / amazon
Mehron Bald cap kit ( optional ) - $32.00 / amazon
I paid around $73.00 for this costume. Bald kit was my choice but they're is a Woochie brand bald cap you can get for $11.00 online.

I am your most Biggs fan I watch every video of yours and you always do a good job on your costume making
Oh thank you so much, that is so sweet.
I wish I can be like you
You can, just work at it. You create costumes, you cannot fail.
@@thisiscaloween9037 I was wondering do you own face book or Instagram and I would not know how to create my own costume
I love costumes
This was great!! 🎉
Thank you girlie
That story about the little person hanging them self isn't true so they say. But It sure looks like it in the movie.
This is amazing! I have a question. Did the poster board stand up over time while wearing it? Like, was it strong and did not tear?
Thank you so much. Poster board is very strong in general. I didn't wear this out, but I made the same costume for my son one year and he had no problems. The fact that it is in pieces will allow you to take pieces off too as needed for comfort if you're out for a while.
Thank you!@@thisiscaloween9037
Thank you so much!@@thisiscaloween9037
The "Hanging Munchkin" is not true. 100% false. What people see is an exotic bird. The studio used several for this scene, and they are barely visible in the final cut. Also, the "meeting the Tin Man" scene was filmed about three months before the Munchkin actors arrived at the studio. The costume you made is nothing short of outstanding. Brilliant job! I remember an old interview with Jack Haley where he said the costume was made out of leather. Been trying to find the interview for years... I saw it when it was originally broadcast.
Wow. Thank you so much. Great info too.
How do you put this on once the shoulder joints are on??
I cut it down the back. If I were going out, I would add velcro to fasten it together.
@@thisiscaloween9037 Awesome, thanks for the reply. That's what I was thinking to do!
@@thefrankexperience Trust your instincts. In my Rosie from the Jetson's video, I show how I did it so that the velcro wouldn't show.
