Hi Mulu. Thank you for watching. Your vocabulary does matter when doing a test like the CLB placement test, but it is only one aspect. There are many other factors that they consider like pronunciation, fluency, spelling, etc. Definitely, don’t worry about it but try to build your vocabulary over time.

Hi. Yes, generally you need to take the CLB test before you can take government-funded English classes. There may be some other options like classes with a private language school or conversation groups where you wouldn’t need to take the CLB test first.

Hello sir, if we would go to canada for study, should we need CLB test are? What’s minimum level to be qualified ? Because my English not very well. And then could you recommend what college in Vancouver with affordable tuition fee . I have a plan to study and work in Canada next year.
Hi Ega. Thanks for watching. No, you would not need to do a CLB test if you are coming to study. Usually colleges would require you to take a test such as the IELTS (Academic) or TOEFL. Each college has different requirements and fees. I think most places will require at least a band 6 for each part of IELTS, and at least 80 on the TOEFL internet-based test. I found this link to a site that provides an overview of some of your options for colleges in Vancouver: www.2-study.com/list-of-colleges-universities-in-vancouver-for-international-student-2021/. It's a great city, but it's very, very expensive. Good luck!

Hi there. The CLB assessment is not the same as the CELPIP, although both of them are based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks. The CLB is only done once you have arrived in Canada for the purpose of accessing government funded language and settlement programs. The CELPIP on the other hand can be done before arrival to Canada and may be able to be used to prove language ability for certain immigration programs. Check their website at www.celpip.ca to see if they offer this test in Nigeria. Alternatively, you may be able to take the IELTS general exam to prove language ability for immigration purposes.

Hi Bhupinder. Depending on where you live in Canada, there are different CLB testing centres. They are the ones who administer the test. The CLB-OSA is a self assessment tool and is only used for practice. The best way to find a CLB assessment centre would probably be to contact a local immigrant serving organization or do a Google search for the city you live in.

Good afternoon. No, unfortunately it cannot. You would need to take either the CELPIP or IELTS General test to prove your language ability.

The CLB Placement Test isn't a pass/fail test, but in order to go to college in Canada, you may require a certain level such as CLB 8 in all of your language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing). To help you prepare, there is a practice reading and listening CLB test at www.clb-osa.ca/home. You can also visit www.celpip.ca/ and find resources to prepare for the CELPIP, which is similar. Good luck!

Is this test is easy
The test is not really easy or difficult. Some parts are easy but it gets harder as you go through it. It is supposed to measure your English level up to a certain level. If you have high English abilities (above CLB 8) you may find the test to be easy.
