In case you’re wondering, some of the names got changed to be a more accurate translation. Smithy’s minions are named after weapons, so Claymorton is a play on it being a Claymore (with Bowyer being a play on Bow). Mack never made much sense.

The amount of JOY this game is bringing me. I love it. It will always hold a special place in my heart as the first game to make me actively want to get it in some way. Good ol Ebay in where they only gave me the console and not the game.

I don’t know if you know this, but I’ll say it anyway.
Mack’s name was changed to Claymorton because his original full name, “Mack the Knife”, is the name of a copyrighted song. So they changed it so they wouldn’t be charged.
I’m really glad he’s still ‘Mack’ to you though because that will always be his name to me!
11:35 About the whole switching between original and remake soundtrack. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition has this feature as well and was probably the inspiration for this setting. (Unless there is a game that did it before Xenoblade that I don't know about)
Tecnicly this isnt a remake but the HD remaster of Final Fantasy X and X-2 did that. At least starting with the PS4 version I think it wasnt an option in the PS3 and Vita versions
And both these games have Yoko composing for them so that makes sense

Ditching the Bruce Lee reference wasn't the only change, because they also altered a little Toad girl's dialog in the Mushroom Kingdom. She runs in circles used to ask Mario to marry her after she grows into her wedding dress, but now asks if she can be his sidekick instead of proposing.
One of the things I love about Super Mario RPG is that there is more strategy to who you put on your team than just “this character is leveled higher” with each member having their own role. Mario is all around, Mallow is the magic user, Geno is the glass cannon, Bowser is the tank, and Peach is the healer

Super Mari RPG is my all-time favorite game, and now I have two delicious flavors of it--classic and updated. There are things I love more about each version, so now I can just play through both of them. Wishes do come true!

So I would like to point out that Yoko Shimomura returns to compose the music in this! She did the original game, and has worked on Kingdom Hearts and the Mario and Luigi games. So if anything seems familiar music wise, that's why.
