Radiohead (Covers) - NYC Busker performs an acoustic Radiohead Set at the Metropolitan Ave. Subway

- Hello!
My name is Navzad Dabu. While living in Bushwick this past year, I frequented the Metropolitan G stop during the graveyard shifts, where Radiohead songs and the trickling down of late-night activities meet in perfect harmony.
This set represents a little window into a space that I hold sacred, not only as tribute to Radiohead's mercurial majesty, but also as gracious observation of these beautiful New Yorkers, themselves.
Thanks for listening and watching!

Thanks again for all the love!

En espérant que ce futur chemin soit totalement le tien et t’apporte bonheur et succès. Longue vie à OxHunt.
great. are you releasing these covers on bandcamp?
I love the camera angles and how they give a sense of loneliness but others are full and crowded
Mmm.
Full and crowded in NYC can be the very definition of lonely.
A common theme of Radiohead is the monotony of life and the environment with the passing trains and folks coming and going enhances the power of the music, which is delivered by an amazing talent.
It is our duty to support and protect artists such as this who bring beauty into lives and ask for little in return.
I mean no disrespect but I don't think the monotony of life is a common theme of Radiohead's music at all. Of all the many things I may have felt about their work, the exploration of monotony is definitely not one of them.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you all for the kind love and support. And more thanks to all my new subscribers. This video was devised as a temporary goodbye to Bushwick as my job [I am a film editor by trade] had taken me elsewhere. The response and outreach its had has been truly touching and overwhelming. And to all those who were there that night that are just started to find this, as I see in comments here and there: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for taking the time to settle in that space with me. You all brought such enjoyment to me when watching this back. And you guys, every night I went down there, made my stay in New York so fucking incredible.
To all who've asked about my Instagram... I do not have one 😅. My brain is horrible with it. I am however, finally able to begin working with a close friend and superb musician. We're slowly, but surely, progressing on our first EP - self-produced out in Joshua Tree, where I'm currently residing. The band is called "OxHunt." And hopefully the social media presence for that will be a bit more "active" as it develops. And this channel will be where I share further info.
We are also working on getting to another video. I had to rent equipment and labor for this video as this was never something I had intended on up-keeping, nor do I intend to monetize as ads ruin everything. As such, along with my desire for unique environments and extended experiences, the videos are a bit more spread out than I would like. Thank you for the patience!
And for those asking about this lovely guitar. It is a LAG Tramontane. It was given to me by a dear friend, David Myton, whose beloved dog, Daisy, passed away days before I posted this and why there is a dedication at the outset of the video.
Thank you to everyone for *slowing down* and taking the time to listen!
I so appreciate you.
Bhai, please cover more Radiohead
Love from India 🇮🇳
will be looking out for some originals in the future! best of luck
Thank you mate you're a legend never heard anyone cover Radiohead my favourite band better than you 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

A solid hour of some of the best Radiohead covers I’ve ever seen. And it only has seven thousand views. Gods of the CZcams Algorithm, give this artist some love.
The algorithm has blessed, I have been sent here
"solid hour", what a words
Bro I’ve spent the last 6-8 years learning from the best covers of Radiohead and he had nailed every song I managed to learn and perform them to my highest ideals. Honestly inspirational to aspire to cover these songs to the level you did.
it has gained 4x that amount in 9 days now i think the algorithm is picking up
It’s up to 37k now

Back in September, I was standing on the opposite track listening to your rendition of Lotus Flower and thought to myself “this is the best Radiohead cover I’ve ever heard.” I regret not telling you that your music moved me, and that you inspired me to better my own guitar and singing. I’ve just been listening to the video recording on my phone… so I can’t say how happy I am to have found you! Radiohead is my favorite band and you, my friend, capture their magic. From one fan to another, you’ve got something special here - thank you for sharing it with the world!
There's a deep take of Lotus Flower from this very night. That one is always special down there. Thanks for listening!

Sunday night, I’m putting my two-year-old to bed. He’s fallen asleep on top of me while I watch this in its entirety. Everything in its right place.
This fellow is an amazing musician and has the voice of an angel. I’ll be watching this video for years to come.
This isn't just a cover of Radiohead, this is a movie, one I'm watching over and over again. Well done sir, u have a new fan.
Right?! I love watching the people!
Fr, I do too, cinematic almost
That he wasn't completely ignored, that some people stayed and listened, and cheered and applauded, and threw in some change-has brought me back some degree of hope, and reinforces the will to continue in this path of music. It's all about touching people and sharing one beautiful moment together. I don't think he cared much whether anyone listened or not, whether anyone threw him a bone or not; there's no ego bleeding or being displayed-he was just there in his special place, pouring his heart out for no one. I think that was part of the allure, and that people shared in those moments, made it more special. I'm taking notes, thank you for sharing your beautiful soul, Monsieur Dabu.
I do not live in a city so I really never come across street performers but how can they all just walk past him like that. They must have really insane lives if they just walk by such an awesome performance unfazed😮
@@vamond1154 It's a subway station. By definition, it's a place of transit. People are there because they have somewhere to go. People generally don't go to a subway station, train station, airport, etc. just to hang out. I'm sure if he would've played in a park or plaza, he would've had a much bigger crowd gather.
@@rabbitsblood I see your point but it still disapoints me that many wont even offer him a glance while they pass by
@@vamond1154 i think in the case of radiohead covers, it just makes it even more poignant. imagine playing let down as crowds just pass you by, that would be so on the nose
art is art. People are people. they will continue to work together either as maker or receiver. Forever.
Radiohead is for me the greatest and most difficult band to cover. To do that acoustically and solo takes insane talent, and your voice is perfection and you playing is simply perfect. I can tell you have studied and obsessed over Thom for a long time, from the timely groove of your head, intimate mic position and that awkward shimmy of his body.
Vdd vc disse tudo!!.... é de fato a banda mais difícil de fazer cover, principalmente as acústicas!!!...tem que ter um talento absurdo.. não é para qualquer um,e ele consegue fazer isso com maestria!!.....explendido!!....
Radiohead is the most difficult band to cover?
Queen, Led Zeppelin and Tool: "Are we jokes to you?"
@@diggie9598 lol
I'm pretty sure this is far from being the most difficult band to cover, BUT you said ''for me''.
I respect that. :)
@@diggie9598 cara é muito difícil fazer cover do Radiohead sim Sr!!.... principalmente as acústicas...tem que ter muito talento.....
This is the best performance of Thom York I have ever seen in my life.
Vocals, guitar, balls, stamina, capture, set list. God damn perfection. ***standing ovation***
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I grew up in New York. Now I understand why hearing Radiohead changed my life. The people don’t know what’s happening to them but it’s happening. And their lives are all the better for this chance encounter. You make me think of Orpheus in the underworld fighting to rescue his wife Eurydice from hell. I am going to write a song about you. After all, it’s spring. ❤️
I'd love to hear the song when you've done it!
This video demonstrates 2 things very clearly: you’re an amazing artist, and the G train has far too little service 😂
Which is perfect for the people listening.
@@pawekloc4319 Spot on, and for me to play. I haven't found any other station like it.
indeed Henry Winn
They don't call it the ghost train for nothing.
😂
Beautiful set man, my favorite part was your decision to start "How to Disappear Completely" to the sound of the train leaving as it disappears - That was great
when u were playing paranoid android and the dude at the pillar was just chilling there, that was like a straight up movie scene. beautiful set, and camera work/editing!!
man if i was in this subway i would've cancelled all my plans and just listened
How to disappear completely wraps up this experience so beautifully. Especially in the city with almost everyone plugged into a screen with headphones.
I was there (on the other side otherwise would've given a few dollars) and I heard you play Reckoner - I was impressed with your voice. Love
this is like if Jeff Buckley singing Radiohead songs. Amazing stuff man. Never stop.
dobrý přirovnání 👍
Ehhh, Buckley was a more accomplished musician and had smoother vocals.
I was thinking the same. 👍
But he sounds more like Thom Yorke...
@@cgtaurus this is such a wild take lol
I expected the usual covers, but Reckoner/ Paranoid Android ???? Seriously this is amazing
True. Reckoner hit me .
I’ve stumbled on this video twice now . I wept both times from the humanity , humbleness, everydayness of it ? Thank you Navzad
This setting and the cinematography + editing feels like a scene from a movie.
Just a mic a guitar and hundreds hours of playing on its own in his bedroom I imagine to perform a set like that who makes a metro train station sounds like a little heaven on Earth. ❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✨
There's so many... and I mean MANY small, subtle coincidences such as the train leaving when he sings the "lonely" verse of There, There, or the train arriving just as he finished paranoid android.. etc etc. Life is art and energy, and this artist was manifesting energy beautifully.
this was easily one of if not the most meaningful hour spent on CZcams in my life.
damn, the performance, the visuals, the location, the tracklist.
i gotta point out Nude, as it for one is the least expected track to be translated to an acoustic performance - it’s a gem, super solid execution.
besides that - probs for Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Present Tense, Weird Fishes, Paranoid Android, Reckoner.
the final one - How to Disappear Completely - is a heart wrecking performance.
overall the songs chosen are far from the easiest from Radiohead’s catalog to nail, and yet all nailed close to perfection. my man, you’ve got balls _(and skills to complement those obviously lol)_ .
from the bottom of my heart, thank you for sharing this solid work of both visual and musical art.
I love to see the look of people and how their daily lives mix with the melancholy of these beatiful covers
this doesn’t feel real it’s that good

Wow... Nude is my favorite Radiohead song and it was beautifully done here. Pretty amazing all around.

By the end of the final Song I was in tears. Hearing these songs that played such different roles in my life being brought to life in a new but faithful way was something nearly therapeutic. Thank you so very much for this.
It seems so fitting of you to play so many songs from the "pay what you want" album.
So symbolic......watching trains arriving and leaving, people crossing, some stay for moment some dont...... how pitty we see greatness touching our lives and just slowly walk by. Great gig man👌
I was going to write my thoughts but then I saw you already did. The perfect comment for a perfect performance.
What a gem, came for one song and ended up watching the whole thing.

For fucks sake this is too good. I’d miss the train for an hour to watch this.

Acoustic guitar is a very unforgiving instrument and you nailed it - well done!
Your performance of Reckoner was absolutely impeccable. Your voice and stamina are out of this world!!
Omg I was looking for this comment! I'm just tearing
Yeah. It really was.
Dude I would’ve stayed for the whole set, this is incredible. What talent
Well that stopped me in my tracks for a full 55 minutes. Man you really delivered a beautiful selection of so the of the most difficult songs to cover in the first place - but just with an acoustic guitar and no effects you did them beautifully. Thankyou for doing and sharing this.
I love it so much ! We want more ❤
As a big Radiohead fan.. this is amazing man!
Wow, just wow. Your video popped up in my feed, and has just blown me away. As a Radiohead fan of over 25 years (the greatest band of all time to me), I don't usually like covers of their songs, but yours are incredible. I think I would have stood and listened to your entire set had I been there (I'm in England, so it's a bit far for me to travel to see you!). Absolutely fantastic. All the best to you.

I'm here in the Philippines and echo what the others have said. I would have gladly missed my train to see your entire set. Great production too; it felt like a film at times with the trains and the people walking past. Was waiting for Let Down, though, as IMO it would have been perfect for the setting. :)

Beautiful, thoroughly enjoyed every second of your performance
Radiohead being my favourite band I figured I’d check this out… 1 hour and a solid dozen tears later I’m struggling to find the right words to compliment the performer. Whole thing was amazing, the location, song selection, camera angles, the guitar tone, and that VOICE! Wow! Nude and Free In The Knowledge especially got me ❤✊
This is truly sensational. There aren’t many who can cover Radiohead without sounding like awful musical cliches - especially acoustically. The paranoid android cover was incredible - how you managed to arrange that and made it sound like an entire band playing is just beyond words. Great work !
Amazing!! Beautiful work!
This is fantastic. Great work! Really incredible covers.
takes huge balls to sing in front of people
and these are not easy songs for some of them
The train arrival at the end of Paranoid Android was gold. Great set, beautifully captured and produced. I wish you well.
Thanks for an inspirational and just superb set. Much love to you!
Beautiful video and great covers. Such a cool feeling captured.
Hey, you might not see this but what you did with "There There" was pretty damn interesting. Totaly made it your own, which is pretty hard to do for Radiohead.
I always liked the deep brooding aspect of "There there" like I can feel my soul getting dragged away into a deep dark forest on a cloudy moonlit night. You made it chipper though. Your version makes it like it's daytime in the desert and you're just getting by until the next town rolls up to your feet. Very cool.
