蝋を石膏で囲み、溶かし出して鋳型にする
Wax is covered by plaster, and melted out to make a mold.
「持ち手」と「刃」を溶接でひとつにする
"Handle" and "blade" are welded into one piece
溶接工法はMIG（ミグ）溶接
MIG (metal inert gas) method is used for welding
材料と同じステンレス鋼の電極棒を溶加材として先端から送る
Electrode made of stainless steel is fed from the tip as filler material
炭酸ガスとアルゴンでシールド、酸化が進行しない環境を作る
Provide dioxide and argon not to advance oxidation

複数のドリルビットを使用
Use multiple drill bits
製品仕様に従って溶接のバリを取る
Deburr welded part according to each product specification

Polishing 研磨
ヤスリのベルトは平面ではなく、曲面を作り出すことが出来る
Sandpaper belt can create a curved surface instead of a flat surface.
目視と指先の感覚で少しずつ磨いていく
Polish up little by little with sight and feeling of the finger tips
光の反射がわずかに曲線を描いているのが見える

Adjustment 調整
刃の交差部だけに力が伝わるように、曲がり・たわみを調整していく
Adjust bend and flection to transmit force only to intersection of blades
経験により、どこを叩けばどのように曲がるかの判断をする
Judge where to hit and how to bend by experience
木の凹凸を利用して幾通りもの作業が可能

Barrel polishing バレル研磨
遠心式の槽に入る研磨材はクルミの殻
Walnut shells in the centrifuge are used for abrasive
内部に取り付けるアーム　奥が新品で手前が使い古したもの
The arm at the back is new, and at the front is old
公転と自転を組み合わせ、2時間回転させる
Rotate for 2 hours with combination of revolution and rotation
この工程で製品に輝きが出る

Sharpening 刃研ぎ
目の細かい砥石で、さらに刃を鋭くする
Sharpen the blade with a fine grindstone
光を使ったゲージで研ぎ具合を確認する
Check the condition after sharpening with a gauge and light

Engage adjustment 噛み合わせ調整
「ため木」と呼ばれる道具で、刃の曲がり具合を矯正する
Corrects curvature of the blade by a tool called "tame-gi"
力を入れすぎると簡単に折れてしまうため繊細さが必要
This work needs dexterity because blade can be broken easily if too much force is used

着色にはイオンプレーティングという技術が使われる
Ion plating technology is used for coloring

調整済の部品に、型番やシリアルナンバーをレーザーで印字

熱処理工程が無いようですが、大丈夫でしょうか。ステンレスには要らない、と言うことでしょうか。それとメンテナンス、研ぎ直しなどについてもやっていただけるとありがたいです。

弊社工場の製造工程をご覧いただき、誠にありがとうございます。熱処理は社外で行っているため、こちらの動画では省略されております。実際には、「切削加工」とされている工程の次が熱処理です。その他にも、社外秘等の理由で動画では省略されている工程がいくつかございます。メンテナンスや研ぎ直しについても、何らかの形で動画でご紹介できるよう検討させていただきます。
