- We were donated a Suzuki katana and asked by Ruaidhri one of our subscribers to recommission it.
Unfortunately Ruaidhri passed away recently but we are determined to finish the project in his memory.

RIP Ruaidhri. I think he would have wanted the Katana to be as good as you can make it. You've invested a lot of time and effort and had huge viewer support. I think you should do what you can to preserve the structure of the bike from further damage and degradation. Okay the frames not going to be powder blasted and restored but a bit of the old shake , rattle and roll will help hugely. The tank too needs some attention . If it's not perfect nobody will notice when it limps by at 120 m.p.h. and that tank needs protection. Finding replacements is both difficult and expensive even supposing you find one that's in better nick. Save what you've got before it's scrap. I know that you will do your best to produce the optimal result with the resources available and you've done a great job so far, so please finish the job. Looking forward to a before and after so we can all see your magic in action.
I vote just get it cleaned up and road worthy..be top dollar a full resto and you openly admit you havent got the budget.Get it back on the road like he said and have a few smiles per miles....love this build..and love the laughs with your old fella👍👍👍👍
Only to happy to help donate to a great cause Baz. I think we need to get as many pop ups together when you are done and have a ride out in Ruaidhri's memory. Keep up the good work.......Rick
Thank you so much once again Rick. 👍
It would look fantastic completely restored! Especially the frame stripped and powder coated , engine casings repainted !
Oh I agree 100% but we don't have anywhere near the budget for that unfortunately. 😕
Brilliant series of videos leave it as it is it looks aged , your dads a star 👍👍
Love this old katana build series, one of my favourite you tube motorcycle interest watches, doing the old owner proud bless him, send me some casings if you like and I'll put a nice satin finish on them as I'm a self employed metal polisher /restorer, would do them just for a mention on your channel "Mark's Mirror Polishing" 😎👍
Brilliant work gentlemen, and God Speed Rory 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Excellent. Sounds brilliant on 4 sillinders. Well done, baz, that bike is coming along beautifully.
Another top Video Baz,so glad you're getting the parts sorted 👍👍Top watch Bro👊
Much love to you brother.
Let's go for a ride now the weather is turning. 😉
Do it the way you're doing hand paint and rattle cans big respect to Rick. Fantastic content again for your dad and baz.
Yes it's nice to have my dad involved. He definitely wants to be youtube famous. 🤣🤣
Thanks again Richard 👍
Eyup Baz rattle cans all the way pal this bike just needs to be enjoyed and cheers i'm learning so much from this channel PS yer dads a legend ! see ya on't next un 👍
Cheers Deedaa 😉😂
Hi from Blackpool, sorry to hear of Ruadhri’s passing. Glad to see it’s being restored in his memory. I had a black Gsx750se Katana from 1993-1999 and loved it. Great to see another as they were rare as the proverbial rocking horse sh**. Fab channel 🤘 I’ll chuck you a coffee 😉
Thank you so much buddy that's much appreciated.
What's your name so I can shout you on the video?
It’s Kev Atherton. Keep up the cracking work…. Although it’s restarted my wanting an old bike again to restore after 10 years away from it 😂 (having young kids put paid to any free time I had)
@@gixxer12 definitely do it mate 😁
lets do this for Ruaidhri
I luv this channel keep it going ur nearly there can’t wait to see it on the road
Thank you Ian. 😁
great footage keep it up
Thanks Mark. 👌
I have a Suzuki GS750 (1977) that you could use on the channel as a rebuild if your interested, It's already stripped as I've had the frame powder coatedand so just requires putting back together. it would be a fairly quick job and all the bits are already here as it was a running/riding bike. Let me know your thoughts as I love watching your channel. R.I.P Ruaidri.
Email us through the website please? 😁
For me, just get it road worthy then do a ride for Ruadhri. Cracking channel BTW
Thanks Anthony. 😁👍
Strip ,,powder coat,do it right mate 👍
Paint it , and rattle can paint the tank and other stuff
Tough choice, a full resto will cost ££££££ , yes i would be nice but can take a very long time. Rolling resto might be the best option, i'd wire brush the engine and use something like hammerite smooth satin black and mask of parts you don't want to spray, expect you could do the casings the same way and get a good finish, same for any mounts or hangers. Tank and plastics i'd leave alone for the time being, come winter then have a think or you might have found a better one in-between.
Don't forget the air box 🤣🤣🤣
Shhhh don't mention the air box.. That's for if the engine comes out again. 😂
Still undecided on what or if I should paint it. 🤔
😂❤🏍🛠
Nice work - what about patina ‘plus’ making the less good bits better 🤔
So outer casings and the visible rusty parts?
In my book it’s a case of how far do you go me I would leave as is get it road ready ride it see what you think then if the Chanel goes well for you then restore it
is a wet stone the same as you would youd use to sharpen a chisel or plane?
Yes that's the one. 😁
Well done lads!! What stone did your dad use on the forks and were can I get one 😊
It's called an oil stone buddy.. Find them on ebay. 😁
What size stone is it please and what was the make of it your dads had a name on it ?
Regards Garry
@@SpecialisedMotorcycleTransport
Hiya what is the size of the stone and it had a make on it too so I can buy the same one.
