I have a 2004 gsxr 600. I just smashed into a deer head on going 70 about two weeks ago. Got away with only a little road rash and a few bruised ribs. It destroyed all the fairings, headlight and bracket, bent the shifter. From what i can tell the front forks and frame are not bent. All i had to do to get it running again was soder a few wires on the harness. It started right up like nothing happened. Suzuki knows their stuff.

You should get an emergency float/airbag that goes around the bike so when it start to go down, you can kill the engine and deploy it, to keep it afloat.
very impressive, my little brother drove my honda dylan 150cc into a lake completely under water i also dried the engine flushed it with oils a couple time used the same spark plug and it ran and it's still running 4000km later
I rode a 2003 gsxr1000 as my only transportation for years, and I'll never forget the first time I got caught in the snow with it. I was on the highway and literally went from dry pavement to 4 inches of snow in an instant. My initial thought was "Oh shit...." but it turns out it handled it better than most cars I have driven. I still miss that bike, even after seeing it for a newer model.

I think Suzuki 03 to 06 were the best GSXRs made. I recently bought a 2022 Suzuki GSXR 1000 R and the new bike is amazing! Handling and breaking are much better than my 05. The 05 engine has more power down low up to about 8000 RPMs. After 8000 the new bike easily takes it. I think if you could upgrade suspension and breaking on the older 1000 they would be better than the new ones.
I did the same thing with a Jeep once. The MOST IMPORTANT thing is to shut it off before it hydrolocks. Fortunately, I did the same, got it towed out after about 2 hours of submerging, pulled plugs out, shot the water out, put plugs back in and drove home haha!

Sure its often said how solid the engine is against stress. But nothing else to expect from 4 stroke 4 cylinder. And sure that japanese bike builders are good but i would not say that this one is just the greatest 4 stroke/cylinder of all others automatically.
As most know, gas is surprisingly harder to ignite than one would think. I had a single cylinder in this same shape except when I turned it over the fuel spraying from the cylinder got a spark from the coil wire and turned into a flame thrower fast. Lucky I had an extinguisher near. Taking the time to get the water out properly is key..
