I feel like we shared the same experience with the Treehouse of Horror episodes.
They were both extremely entertaining and comedic, but would occasional have imagery powerful enough to haunt your mind in the following days.
Terrific rundown, Mr Gallagher. Top marks.

Excellent video as always! The word I would use to describe this vid (and the rest of your work) is sincere. Your narration is never stuffy or overly formal -- I can always feel your own personal care for the topic. I like how you tied it together at the end by connecting your childhood viewing experiences to your viewing practices today. Props to you for packing all of this into 6 minutes without ever feeling rushed!

Cheers Queline, that's really nice to hear - the sincere bit. I've worked on my voiceovers a lot but I still feel like they always feel quite rehearsed, like I'm not really connecting with the viewer. But if you say that I'll take your word for it. Cheers for being in the live chat, that meant a lot.

Fantastic perspective on the THOHs. I did a watch through a couple years ago and was amazed at just how many references to pop-culture and horror movies there were in there. Things that wouldn't have made a slither of sense as a kid.

Heya, long time no see. It is almost like you’ve just been inside my head, I had already forgotten all about Treehouse of Horror and just like you I had no idea that it was filled with so many references, now I’m eager to check them out again with some friends and a beer, hehe. You just brought back many vivid memories from watching all of these as a kid. I guess now I see that it sometimes shows the “real” world in a way that a kid might understand, for example horrid stuff happening to someone and nobody seems bothered etc. Anyway, thanks for the amazing video and always a pleasure seeing you make enjoyable and entertaining stuff that makes me think. Cheers man ;)

Surprisingly, I was never afraid of TOH as a kid. I was afraid of random things that shouldn’t have scared me though, like the Addams family theme song for example (not the show or movie, just the theme song 😅).

hey dennis, really good fan of this channel and i have some suggestions for videos id like to see in the future?
analog horror is one id pay to watch, and one video i’d like to see you analyse is “the wyoming incident” it’s on youtube somewhere i think, it truly frightened me and after the video finished i felt differently about the world for a while. i’d also love to see analysis videos on fight club, and breaking bad, jesses trauma in particular.
i love your videos on broadcast horror and wallace and gromit, and i totally stand with you on the W&G video.
thank you so much for your content dennis i really appreciate you as a creator. you’re a national treasure with the stuff you put out.

I'm pretty familiar with analog horror and the Wyoming Incident, aye. My favourite weird case like that is the Max Headroom Broadcast Incident. I'm not sure it's really something I'd be the best fit to cover though really.
I am actually planning a Breaking Bad video a couple of months from now. Hope it lives up to your expectations. Cheers for watching, mate.

This completely unrelated to the simpsons but anyway. I don't know why but when i was little there was these two groups of prehistoric documentaries called walking with dinosaurs and walking with beasts . Walking with dinosaurs was scary to me because there was just music and the backgrounds or just dead dinosaurs on some episodes also the strange music with the still backdrop during the credits but walking with beasts was fucking scarier because in one episode there were giant prehistoric ants and they murdered a baby terror bird hatching from its egg and stripping its body to the bone and the earthquake scene in episodes one were toxic gas is going into the atmosphere and suffocating al l the creatures during the night and in the morning you just see dead bodys and the mysterious kinda terrifying soundtrack but if anyone else had this experience let me know in the replies

Bro.. Just like with the Wallace and Gromit video you’ve again perfectly articulated a fear from my childhood that I’d almost forgotten. Treehouse of horror used to go crazy and occasionally be scarier than actual horror films. I vividly remember the alien episode which together with Signs had me scared of ET until my mid-teens

Great video. To this day, I've never seen a Nightmare on Elm Street movie. I think that's at least partly due to the fact that The Simpsons parody of it scared the living shit of me as a kid. I know there was a brief time when I was younger and I was genuinely paranoid about dying in my sleep, and it started with that segment.

what makes the T.H.O.H. eps even more creepy is the fact they're cannon. if you watched cannon-cannon eps they speak about a few horror eps and wasn't there for jokes. when you watched later horror eps. there's a cloning machine. that was around the time when fans are starting to call the seasons after the movie a zombie. no longer the same show we are used to. than WAY later we were right. there's a parter horror ep that they were robot copies and they were showing in the background all the other copies that we saw from those older seasons. reused over and over just to keep the show going. now that's the true horror and that's why some of the characters don't really react when they kill each other off in those horror eps. explains alot why a few people like you get a bit uncomfortable and more uncomfortable with each new horror ep. because the older eps they just gasp and new eps they go meh. to me now it's boring because they admit the show is not the same anymore.

Everybody's tastes will be different but I think the earlier episodes are really special. Treehouse of Horror 1, found in The Simpsons Season 2, is a bit rough because they're just finding their feet. But Treehouse of Horror 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are a brilliant run of episodes.
