    And then Gandalf stood on the bridge facing Andre and his voice covered all other noise :
    "YOU SHALL NO... PASSPORT."

    I really like these documentaries! They should do more of this for all their albums. They are such good storytellers, and they are all interesting to listen to. Also, I'd love to hear them talk more about their nerdy pleasures, like videogames, books, movies etc :)

    This album was my introduction to Blind Guardian. I was reading the Lord Of The Rings before i bought Somewhere Far Beyond. It was a perfect timing for me. It took me like 4 yrs to read the hobbit and Lord Of The Rings trilogy. I finished right before Fellowship came out in the movie theaters. Every song on Somewhere Far beyond is absolutely amazing. I like to listen to it when going camping.

      Yeah i'm a really slow reader. I try to get every detail down which is almost impossible for me with Lord Of The Rings.

    The first thing I thought when I first heard Theater of Pain was 'why the fuck wasn't this a single? it would have been huge on headbangers ball!' Great as Bard Song is, I think the Americans might have hated it, it's an acquired taste.

      @ahums16 Před 5 lety +3

      The record company missed a major opportunity with Theatre of Pain, but I agree with your summary of The Bard's Song. I honestly don't like the original ~ the 2003 re-recording is utter perfection.

    What i got from these videos: Blind Guardian suffered the typical producer/label blocking them and restricting them. Typical non caring for the artists, when they actually should be the kings of it all! not the other assholes in the music industry. I am sure if they were surrounded by cooler people, open, and passionate for music and not greed and norms, Blind Guardian wuld have been huger and musicality way crazier!

    These interviewers are awful, clearly no clue about what they're doing. Blind Guardian are telling the most interesting stories about the production of the album and Kalle Trapp, and they just sidetrack completely and ask about why The Bard's Song wasn't released as a single. What? How about having a natural interview and not reading questions from a paper? You can tell they never learned anything about this. Hansi and the guys are still doing a great job developing a flowing conversation, fortunately, with little input from the interviewers.
