    The thing that makes these cars so iconic to me is the fact that they are based off of the 2 most famous Gymkhana cars in the world (The Hoonicorn (which is the Felony) and the Hoonitruck (the Infraction) RIP Ken Block.

    I have an Infraction 6s and 3s blx, I figured they left the wing clear and huge so each customer could tailor it to their taste.
    Trimmed my 3s and then used blasted gold plastidip on the inside. Matched really well and I can peel it off to change color anytime.

    Nice video. I don't know about the Infraction splitter, but the Felony splitter is Lexan, not plastic. Which is a good thing for flexibility.
    I've never driven an Infraction, but let me tell you the first upgrade i made to my Felony was removing the GP6 rear diff and input gear and dropping in a GP5 diff and input gear.
    Tired of paying extra for oversized Hoons. Tired of not being able to rotate my tires for even wear. Tired of not having options for different tires in the rear. Tired of paying $20 a tire for tires that last 2 runs on 4s.
    Now that I've got that out of my system: I love my Felony and I run GRP XM7 tires all day long, which last longer and cost much less.
    PS: 5:37 there is a reason the camera person is behind the driver. With battery, the Felony is around 15 pounds. Tré dangerous.

    So the e brake on the infraction. A few questions. Does it only affect the rear tires? Can you still brake with your normal esc braking power? I guess the question should be is the manual brake on a 3rd channel and like an e brake for drift porpoises?

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  Před 2 lety

      Yes to all three. The handbrake is controlled by the third channel button, and it does only affect the rear wheels. The ESC is the same as the Felony, so you can still use the normal ESC brake. The handbrake is intended mostly for drifting, although you can use it at the same time as the ESC brake to stop quicker.

    Both are the exact same performance wise.
    The only positive aspect of the fellony is the looks?
    I get anything wrong?

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  Před 2 lety +2

      Yep, that's all correct. For some, the Felony's looks may be worth it, but especially if you plan to change the body at some point, the Infraction seems to be the better choice for most.

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  Před 2 lety +2

      It has no problem breaking traction even on 50% power, so I think harder rubber might actually make it more difficult to control. If you want a car that's easy to drift, I would check out the Losi V100 touring car. It's a lot smaller, but it's more suited to controlled slides and precision driving.

    can anyone comment about the handling of the two? supposedly the infraction handles worlds better than the felony, because supposedly the felony suffers from major fishtailing?

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  Před 3 lety

      In my experience, handling is pretty much the same for both. The chassis and weight distribution are nearly identical, so unless the camber and toe are adjusted differently, I don't see a reason why one would fishtail significantly more than the other. I did find the handbrake on the Infraction very useful, but aside from that, the driving experience is very similar.

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! It's mostly a matter of practice. The Felony handles similarly to most AWD on-road R/C cars, just bigger and with more momentum. The most important tip for these big cars is to look ahead and plan your stops well in advance, since it takes some distance to safely slow them down, as opposed to smaller R/C vehicles that can pretty much stop on a dime. Oh, and don't crash into yourself - I've learned that the hard way, lol.

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  Před rokem +1

      @@wolfboy20 Since it's an AWD car, tapping the brakes isn't the ideal way to start a drift. The easiest method is just to turn in and then give it a quick burst of throttle.
      The stability control is a matter of personal taste. All it does is automatically countersteer when the car is sliding. You'll want to adjust it until you're happy with how it handles - all the way off and it'll spin out easily, all the way on and it'll be difficult to drift.
      We didn't run it for long enough to find out whether the motor would overheat, but I've talked to quite a few owners and no one has brought up that issue, so I don't think it's a major problem.

    I think for the money and 1/8th scale; the Traxxas X0-1 is the car to buy for 750 American. 1,000 dollars is insane for a toy car. That's crazy. The Traxxas will go 100 mph and is wind tunnel tested. It has a motor the size of a coffee can and also has a gyro in it. The X0-1 is by far, the car to buy. Sorry. In my opinion, even 750 for the Traxxas is insane. Red Cat is very wise to stay out of it and not make one at all. They know they wouldn't sell very many. Besides, you can easily soup up a 10th scale Red Cat Lightning and hit 100. I have 5 all custom Lightnings that will. And I added gyro's to them, which keeps them on the road. And they handle a lot better than those huge heavy things. Those things can't even find their feet. Tell me I'm wrong.

    • @bchobbies
      @bchobbies  Před 8 měsíci

      The prices mentioned in the video are in Canadian dollars. The Felony and Infraction are $650 US each. Also, having driven and worked on both, the Infraction/Felony and the XO-1 are two very different vehicles. The Arrma 6S platform handles much better and is able to drift, while the XO-1 is designed purely for straight-line speed runs, and tends to just spin out if you try to take a corner at speed. It's also a much older platform. I usually tend to prefer Traxxas over Arrma, but in this case, I think the Infraction/Felony is just a better designed and engineered vehicle for most purposes. (The Arrma electronics do have a gyro as well - that's what the AVC is.)
      As for souping up 1/10 scale cars, yes, that's another option and there are lots of good 1/10 road car platforms. However, we don't usually see people cross-shopping 1/10 scale cars with the huge 1/7 scale ones. They're just two different markets.
