Fantastic rockabilly playing as always. This youtube channel is absolutely top notch, one of the very best. Could you do an episode on how you create your backing tracks one day? Thanks again.
This riffs was one of the first I 'figured out' as a kid. There's a variation of it everywhere, Pink Panther, TV commercials, spy spoof movies. Nice to know where it originally came from. Your explanations of music history are as much fun as the lessons.
One of the best ever compilation albums I ever owned was a free cassette that came with Q magazine in the 1980s. This was one of the tracks on it and I played the tape to death!
Vince Taylor went to Paris to get the bands pay from the manager and spent it on LSD then went insane. He bumped into the then David Jones in London and preceeded to pull out a map to show Bowie where the spiders from Mars would land. Taylor was Ziggy.
Nice, thank you a lot for this lesson. I love the song. A lot of psychobilly bands covered this one too.. I can highly recommend the milkshakes version, really a killer sound...
Most bad ass riff of all time. Great solo too. More 60's spy movie feel in key of C. Odd, my band now plays (It's weird but..) "Not Unusual and 'Shakin' All Over" (Thanks for solo on Pirates version btw).
There’s a really great film of Joe Moretti playing live with Gene Vincent in Italy in 1960, Bluejean Bop and Sexy Ways. I think Joe Moretti is playing a Gibson through a nice Vox amp. Looks like they are both really enjoying themselves!
Good day dear boy ..love the guitar lessons especially the play like Wilko one .....any way what I wanted to say was that some 30 odd years ago I picked up joe moretti from outside the abbey rd studios.....to cut a long storey short we got to talking about shakin all over and brand new Cadillac and in his Scottish accent he told me that he may have been using a grimshaw guitar (he thought that joe brown or big Jim Sullivan had given to him to use) played through a vox ac10or 15......hope this is some use to you
this is so weird...i started relearning this song yesterday (clash version)...watching a couple videos...then today see you did a lesson...crazy man...heard the vince taylor version a couple years ago...no wonder the clash covered it
Very cool throwback tune/lesson, Adrian! I see that you have at least one nice looking electric 12 string guitar on your rack in the background.........it would be cool if you did a Byrds (or even Tom Petty) cover lesson on the ole 12 banger for cool nostalgia's sake!! I do love your no-nonsense thorough and fun way you conduct your lessons!! Very well thought out and produced......not buttering you up to do that 12 string deal as I really meant this compliment but it would be cool and unique as I love the cascading and fuller sound of 12 string guitars time to time!! Jim C.
superb choice. I am always disappointed when I hear London calling and its not followed immediately by this one. I'll definitely learn this one. on my list
People telling you how great you play are imbuing themselves with technical superiority sufficient to judge your work. I'm just going to go over to Patreon and pay you for the lesson.
Wanted a tutorial on this forever. Been playing it in E, I guess, inspired by The Clash version but eager to see how it was done on the original. Thanks Adrian!
You're killing it with the rockabilly. Would absolutely love if you could do a lesson on Scotty Moore's , You're right, I'm left, she's gone. The lessons on CZcams are not great.
Thank you so much. I really love the vibe you bring in your playing, very inspiring! How about Brown Sugar- Rolling Stones (Standard tuning) in the next video? :)
So glad to see you Adrian. You've been around a long time. Those cats in the background! What are they and why? Appreciate you brother. Wish I could meet you!
Nice! I'm going to get busy today learning this song. Thank you and always enjoying your vids! Btw, this album came out whem I was in college. Oldman here.
Awesome Adrinan, like you I first heard the Clash version; London Calling was practically worn out at my place. And while there are a lot of similarities to the original, any chance of posting supplementary material on the Clash (or even the Fall version) on your Patreon account?
This track is imaculte and absolutely Rockin’
I first heard this song when the Clash covered it. My band immediately adopted it as well. Fun song to play. We did it in 'E'
@@justiceforall6412 what Ecstasy, just wow, go go.
Fantastic rockabilly playing as always. This youtube channel is absolutely top notch, one of the very best. Could you do an episode on how you create your backing tracks one day? Thanks again.
Vince Taylor was a fascinating character. And Joe Moretti also played on Chris Farlowe’s version of “Out of Time”.

Yes, I did that too. Fucking brilliant...
The swedish 60s band Hep Stars had a big hit here in Sweden with the song. With Benny Anderson (ABBA) on keyboard. You can find live videos on CZcams.
Fantastic this has come just at the right time in this lockdown shenanigans. Thanks so much
My thoughts exactly. Thanks for this.
You always pick the coolest songs and bands to cover
Vince Taylor went to Paris to get the bands pay from the manager and spent it on LSD then went insane. He bumped into the then David Jones in London and preceeded to pull out a map to show Bowie where the spiders from Mars would land. Taylor was Ziggy.
This one is a lot of fun. Also, great teaching style.

Wild Angels did a Great Version
Do the clashes version but excellent playing just think it's a better sound in the deeper octave
A little bit off genre but I’d love to hear you breakdown Daniel Johnston’s Billions Rock?
Hi Adrian. Great lesson. I don't see the tab and backing track listed on Patreon. Is it missing?
Scratch that. I just found it. Further back than I thought.
Awesome Adrinan, like you I first heard the Clash version; London Calling was practically worn out at my place. And while there are a lot of similarities to the original, any chance of posting supplementary material on the Clash (or even the Fall version) on your Patreon account?
The Clash version has an E chord, played very hard, at the beginning and end.
Hi can anyone please tell me which model of Telecaster this is?
You say there was cover by The Fall, I have heard that and can’t find it. Where/when???
Check out Teenage Head doing it too 👍
DRIIIVE........my baby drove up in a brand new caddilac.....
Why do people keep calling this rockabilly it was not known as rockabilly when it was recorded by Taylor
{smiling}
😜
I thought at first you were comping the theme song from the old Batman tv series.
I thought the same thing
