The thing that i most like in stoicism is that you are just a man who is responsable for your own acts and not responsable for the whole circumstances of live

It was how I was already leaning but the most useful thing I got out of stoicism was that you dont need to have an opinion on everything. Rules out heaps of irrelevent happenings in the world that provoke unnecessary emotions and frustrations. Disengaging has been very freeing.

We often forget how alien the civilisation these ideas came out of was - there was no natural right to liberty or life, as for marriage not being based on love for the most part. Honour and duty took precedence over material comfort. The teachings would be especially useful for someone in the military or police force, dealing daily with life threatening or otherwise difficult situations. But there are also universals that are widely applicable to life in general. I personally like the notion of virtue being its own reward, rather than the only reason to do good deeds is being rewarded with the absurdity of an eternal amusement park after you die.

Same reason why we spend so much of our lives thinking about the Roman Empire although we have no idea why lol
