    had to watch this episode again...for that angel,, i think the double leopard and that angel port cullis mint are my two very most favourite older coinage,,looking to pick up a fine to ef bloody mary groat and shilling next for my collection.

    sure would be nice to have a james 1st laurel gold hammered for the medieval collection. thats a long way off for me though.

    Great selection of coins, the 1723 shilling looks amazing. It's indeed hard to get a bargain at the US auctions, especially Heritage and Stack's.

    Amazing coins , especially like the Angel at the beginning , why can't we have coins of this quality and type produced like this from the Royal Mint these days....

    Often wonder why these vintage coins are disfigured given the fact that they were not in public circulation. The coins in the Victoria era seem to have withstood the the 'beating' of time better at least... somewhat!
    From the colour I suspect the purity is pretty close to 24ct?
    With the disparity in price between gold today & the auction prices I assume anyone bidding/buying theses coins are in it for the numismatic value & not for near future trade/profit. Time will tell if these buyers made the wise decision - that is ... only if they live long enough.
