      @seedofwonder Před 4 lety +67

      @Christopher The criticism is actually more unfair than you recognize. On the one hand, he's correct; you can gain a few levels and auto-attack enemies to death. And so you're sitting there watching for ten minutes. Not fun, agreed. OR you can learn the combat system and waste those enemies in seconds. OR... and here's where it actually gets fun, you can learn the combat mechanics, challenge enemies that have 10+ levels on you, and then start to open up new challenges that shouldn't be available until much later.
      If you watch the game footage, you see how little progress he made. His instinct was correct: he's not in a position to review the game. The comments about it not being for him are totally fair. I suspect that it wouldn't change when he gets new party members, rare blades, etc. But to make value judgments on gameplay, story, and the like, when he has only experienced the surface level of a progressive system, is where the offence creeps in. Incidentally, the game doesn't throw it all at the player at the beginning precisely because there is a learning curve. It gives you time to master techniques before adding new ones. And this should come as no surprise, but in order to learn them, you can't just zone out and put the controller down.
      All that being said, I think this might be my new all-time favorite, but I'm not mad at him (responding to the original comment). I did unsub a while back and am only here again in a moment of sheer boredom. I trust no one would be mad to learn I unsubbed. Why would I do that? No intent to offend or knee-jerk reaction. I just would rather have CZcams alert me when someone who shares my tastes posts something new.

      I love the game. I'm on chapter 4, but there are issues such as the map, and the combat isn't as exciting to me as X, and as mentioned in the video it is a bit weird when I'm level 28 and it takes me and 2 other companions like 5 minutes to beat a level 18 opponent. But overall I love it, and as I said, since it came out, it's been my go to game. Huge RPG fan. I'm in heaven with the Switch with Skyrim, BOTW, and Xeno on it. If they bring Fallout, I'll have a stroke. I know there's an update coming for the map on the 22nd, so that's awesome.

      30-40 hours? isn't that like the main story in other games? That's a bit much for it to start getting interesting. But that's my opinion not trying to hate a game that's looks good, it's just not for me

    • @JC-ok4yx
      @JC-ok4yx Před 6 lety +21

      For most games that is the entire story, but I it took me 100+ hours just to beat the story in XBC2. I probably could have finished it in 60-70 hours but still.
      I say 30-40 to get interesting because by that point you have a lot more characters, blades, and practice with the combat system. The bad thing is your third party member is only able to use 1 blade which limits some of your options at the beginning. Since some combos are dependent on elements you don't have much to play around with at first.
      Really you need to level up some of your abilities too so there isn't as much downtime. It's not a hack-and-slash set up at all. Abilities can be used randomly but for them to get more power out of you you need to time them just right. It takes a lot of practice before you realize all the different things going on.
      Each ability has a CD as well, so it faster to build your meter by switching out to a different blade who have already come off CD, before unleashing your combos.

    I love this game, easily in my top 3. My main problem with it is the lack of knowledge on pouch items. Pouch items are an integral part of the game, and the combat is slowed down significantly if you don't have a dessert item in your pouch. I went through my first play through without using pouch items, so i never switched of mythra/pyra because the driver arts have low cd. Oh, and the game just doesn't tell you that there is a "sweet spot" for every weapon type. Yeah, i didn't know either until 80 hours in. Every weapon has a range that they deal extra damage in, Ring type weapons are short range, swords are medium, and Cannons are long. You can see this in the bottom right corner with the element. If it's flashing, you are dealing extra damage. Fusion combos are nowhere near explained enough even though they are the main way you do damage. Quest waypoints dissapearing when you don't have the right blades equipped is also a problem. The game never explains to you that the waypoints and quest givers dissapear if you don't have the right blades equipped. Once you fully learn almost every aspect the combat system of the game, however; it's some of the most fun you can have, seeing your blades constantly hit the damage cap, and soloing superbosses. The skill curve is almost like league of legends in the way that the game is only fun once you have learned almost everything about the game.
    TLDR : The game has an extremely steep skill curve, and gives you nowhere near enough info, also use dessert pouch items. Weapon range mechanic is also never explained.

      I Never used them, finished the game on normal without a sweat.
      Fun to say, I also didn't even used the gacha system because I hate it, and played with the same 8 blades (Pyra, Roc, Agate, Dromarch, Boreas, Corsette, Poppi and Poppi QTpie). Still managed to kill everything in sight. Never bothered with Aux Cores either because they looked like worthless ''fine tuning'' where you struggle to feel the difference unless it's agro or link boosts or even equip items unless vests.
      Pretty much I only used core chips for the weapons. Easy game, too easy to be bothered with items that have little impact.

    Although I really love this game I still can agree in many points with you. The comatsystem really needs much time to get engaging. I understand where you are coming from but re-read what you wrote... "You were just in about 15 (FIFTEEN) hours in the game, but it STARTS getting better and better after time."
      There are many games that only run about 15 hours and are amazing start to finish...If I have to wait 15+ hours to START enjoying a game's story...then there might be a problem with said game. That does not take away how amazing the game might be after; but you have to admit that is a pretty big flaw of a video game to not be able to properly grab my attention 15 hours in.

Combat also doesn't start to get interesting until about 20 hours in. The second half of the game is good; but ignoring it's initial flaws and not understanding why a person would be put off by it is extremely childish.

Once they opened up orbs etc the combat started to become a lot of fun. I get why people put it down and never pick it up again because the reality is you shouldn't need to play for 20+ hours to get to the point it becomes enjoyable and they take the training wheels off. ok i know im very late but if anyone is watching this videos and are woried about the combat being slow its not its just that the tutorials are awful and id say that the majority of people who find the combat slow and boring this is the reason
    1 the auto atack isnt for dealing damage:what you shoud be doing is - each auto attack has a 3 hit system with it doing more damage each hit after the first hit move this will reset the combo back to hit 1 the auto attack is for charching your arts you should only be using your 3rd auto attack for canceling into your art than canceling that art into the next and that into the next this will do way more damage than just auto attacking and using your arts when you get them
    2 use pouch items you get like the 3rd best item (the narcepair jelly) at the begining of the game
    you definatly should play this game with a guide because ingame information is awfull

    Okay, I just started this game a couple of weeks ago and I'm right where you quit, around 15 hours in, and was ready to give this mess up. I think your video has convinced me to keep trying at least for another hour or two. The voices of some characters are terrible and repetitive, combat isn't very great, then that waypoint you mentioned after completing the Nia rescue in the ship... I roamed for over half an hour and couldn't find the way until I googled it. I shouldn't have to do that. To go with that, enemies of massively varied levels are randomly scattered about, so too often I either end up having 2 or more other enemies joining a fight I am in, overwhelming my party, or some huge level 80 thing stomps over and kills my group while I fight things near my level. Just seems like a LOT of bad game design choices, but maybe if I can get past this area I will pass that hump where it gets fun. I'm going to try anyway. 20 hours of suck could be worth over 100 hours of great fun.

      Wow, I'm +40 hours into the game, and I'm just starting to see the reviews. So, I just noticed how many people got lost in Uraya to find the capital. In my case, I just saw a big area and thought "alright, time to explore". In that kind of person who likes to see every zone before even going to the main objective, so, finding the capital was just me casually exploring, finding it, and then turning back to see the places I didn't see. Now I see how many people is complaining how difficult is to get there, and . . . I definitely can see why. Since my main objective was wander around and not going to the main mission, I didn't notice the difficulty of finding the way there, while the rest of the people who did focused on that were completely lost, because of the verticality of the area, and the specific things to do in order to get there. One thing that I completely agree is that the voice acting is bad, and, I may angry a lot of people (I'm Hispanic, I talk both English and Spanish), but almost every japanese product that is dubbed in English sucks. I don't get how they do it, but 80% of the time it sounds embarrassing. I'm not saying there's not bad dubbing in Hispanic countries, because they are; nevertheless, at least they capture the emotion of the original voice acting without sounding ridiculous most of the time.

    You didn't care for the game, and that's totally fair. This game is absolutely not for everyone, and definitely falls into more of a niche. I personally adore this game, and can comfortably call it my game of the year. However I can totally understand all of your complaints (as a sidenote, I can also understand the complaints of people who don't enjoy Telltale's Walking Dead, which is also one of my all time favourites). At the end of the day, people have different tastes, and that's okay.
    I think a good example of this is that I personally don't like the first Metroid Prime. I've played through it, and while I found a lot to love about the game, at the end of the day it just wasn't my cup of tea. That doesn't mean it's a bad game. I think Metroid Prime deserves the praise it's recieved. At the end of the day it's just not for me, and that's okay. And at the end of the day, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is just not for you, and that's okay.

    Gormott is really rough and confusing as you slowly figure out how the game is put together. I had a bit of trouble too, but then I started to figure out that "Oh, I actually need to pay attention to quests and environment layout instead of run straight toward waypoints all day like Skyrim."
    But after that learning curve, the game continues to expand and swell with improvements.

    • @ugxsan
      @ugxsan Před 6 lety +8

      I mean, it's a valid point that the first fifteen hours shouldn't be horrible and unengaging. Even JRPGs need to carefully draw their interest curve. But of course, the original point holds more than a little merit, as the game really does take that long to unlock most of the combat elements. The narrative hasn't hit the strongest hook (end of chapter 3), you can't even perform driver combos, and yeah, Gormott is easily one of the hardest areas to figure out in the game.
      You can't blame someone for getting tired after nearly 20 hours of what is essentially a very extended tutorial. However, the game really does pick up in Mor Ardain.

I know a lot of reviewers referred to the first game as one of the greatest games ever made. And while I would stand by that statement, I feel like that opinion is extremely subjective. I respect your opinion but on your point with battles taking too long it's because you are literally standing there not timing attacks or using skills/combos the right way. For example some skills are more effective depending on which side of the enemy you attack. Some side attacks skills lowers enemy defence, skills that debuff them, and then their are skills that do massive damage if you hit them from behind (you can essentially use all these skills together to further increase the damage of your other skills) Making battles end very quickly.

      I'd also like to add that in the beginning of the game, I literally did not know about the elemental combo's you could do even after chain attacks were introduced, I skipped the tutorials and every fight was going so slow. However once I realized you could chain the specials fights were going a lot faster. And the auto reset is extremely helpful to.

      It plays like a pseudo mmo, you can lvl up all your skills so not only does it increase their damage but reduces their cooldown times. There are even skills that speeds up the cooldown rates, it doesnt really take that long to lvl these up and have the cooldowns lowered enough so you are always on the offensive with your abilities. He is only showing early lvl gameplay and playing it completly wrong so of course it looks slow.

I played a lot of Xenoblade X on the Wii U and the combat system looks similar but (and maybe it was just my infinite overdrive build) battles lasted seconds and the arts and the combo system really made all that happen. I think it's the gacha system that makes people hate the combat. Many get elements that don't have great synergy together so they struggle with blade combos, and if you struggle with those the game gonna suck since everything revolves around them.

  • @TheDorianTube
    @TheDorianTube Před 2 lety +9

    9:29 literally just press Y and read the detailed objective lol. It's right there, written under the picture of the Quest. It's a fetch quest that tells you to find materials, which are those white dots on the ground. That's why there's no marker because those white dots are everywhere. Same if the quest is about crafting, or getting materials from salvaging...there's no waypoint because there are dedicated spots for those activities all over the map, greatly highlighted lol
    9:51 On the bottom right it tells you ''Gather Confusion Ivy'' the NPC literally tells you that it grows near trees...so just look for white dots near trees. I mean...right? Need fish? White dots near water. Need flowers? Grassy Fields...etc etc.
    I think the guy has grown too accustomed to Open Worlds ala Ubisoft where you have a minimap filled with markers and it tells you to press F to pay respects

  • @DavidHosey1
    @DavidHosey1 Před 3 lety +3

    I can definitely see many of your complaints even if they didn’t happen to me, but you went kinda off the mark with some of those things.
    Like I get not liking Rex’s voice actor since he only gets genuinely good around 1/3 into the game, but the whole cast? And calling them bad British accents?? They’re welsh people using their normal accents most of the time, and most do a pretty great job at it too. Nia, Mythra, Poppi, Jin, Zeke, etc. I can’t understand hating all of them, especially since the European accents make the experience much more unique than a random other game
    And the story is far from “surface level.” I can understand why you’d think that with not looking too deeply into it and only playing through chapter 4 or so, but saying that is like saying XBC 1 was a shallow story about revenge, or that Nier is a shallow story about loss. It has far more layers and nuances that make it a great story (tho 1 might be a bit better specifically in its plot beats). And the characters honestly surpass 1’s. Sure Shulk is way better than Rex, but too many characters in 1 are moved to the sidelines when their side plot is done (and some were a bit too one more imo). 2 makes all characters not only always relevant to the plot, but has more of them and gives all of them genuine depth. Even the nopon lmao
    I’m glad that you recognize this game as good even tho you don’t prefer it, by even putting it on your must buy games each holiday season. I just wish you focused on the subjective flaws you didn’t like instead of calling regular accents and well done stories bad if that makes sense

    I finally got around to playing this one, and I loved it, but I agree with a lot of the issues you had.
    I actually liked the voice acting a lot, and wish more JRPGs used a wider range of accents (this one having various UK, Australian, American accents). I really liked the voice acting in Xenoblade 1 and Ni no Kuni too, because of the use of UK accents.
    The combat does start off really slow, and tutorial isn't as helpful as it could have been, which means the average player is less likely to approach combat optimally. I'm pretty sure Xenoblade 1 battles were considerably faster.
    I think I was lost for a few hours at the exact same part you were. A lot of areas have a lot of vertical complexity compared to Xenoblade 1, but 2's map doesn't do a good job of reflecting that. I wish it was a little more like the 3D maps in the Metroid Prime series. Additionally, the map is segmented, and doesn't show the next segment until you walk up to it, so I found it tricky to figure out where each part connects.
    It certainly did get much more engaging 20+ hours in, but I think Xenoblade 1 is much better at hooking the audience early on, and setting up enigmas at a better pace. I think Xenoblade 2 relies a little too much on its fan service and sexualised characters for engagement, but if you're not super into the waifus, then you might have a harder time caring about some of the plot threads at the beginning.
    Not sure if I liked it as much as Xenoblade 1, but the blade system was pretty cool (though I wish you could open 10 core crystals at the same time), and the side missions were really addictive after a while.
    I actually don't think I fully understood the blade combo part of the battle system, but I'm too stubborn to look online for a better explanation than what the game gave me. You can evidently complete it without fully understanding the combat system, but it must slow down the combat.

    ok here is the thing with auto attacking, when the swing is about to land tap the left stick and it will hit and cancel the animation you hit way way faster and build up your arts incredibly fast this way (especially when you running 2x desserts in your pouch). Which you spam, and later can animation cancel those as well to spam into chains. This is the crux of combat and it's way way different than DE and X, once you get used to it, you either love it or hate it. And yes unfortunately it does take time to ramp up to fast and smooth, but personally I feel it has more depth than the other two.
    Enel on youtube has a great video explaining the combat in depth which helped me learn and enjoy it a lot. Now I can see how combat being complex and not straight forward can be seen as bad, but for me it's part of what makes games more fun for me.

      It isn't a button-masher because it's a strategy game. The battles are incredibly fast-paced and intense once you get all the mechanics down, but in the end it's a strategy game. This isn't something like Smash Bros where you win based on mashing the right button combos at the right time. You win by thinking far ahead in the battle and strategizing what moves to do next.

    Oh THAT story quest is the one you got stuck in... that one was so difficult to find for me too, I really tried everything I could think of, and traveled the length of the titan multiple times until I figured out there’s a giant tunnel in its spine. It took me 5 hours to figure out (might be exaggerating) but that one almost made me quit too... honestly the combat takes a while to get good. I don’t think you were there yet... though it’s crazy how slow of a start the game has... still my 3rd favorite RPG on the switch (after tales of vesperia, and project octopath). Once you learn how to use the elemental orbs, and elemental break you can really start to set things up to rake in the damage. (I think I did 181000 damage using 3 elemental breaks on the final boss)

    This is a week late, but I figure I'd type it out anyway, even though there are likely a ton of people before me who have done the same. I respect your opinion, and I have some agreements and some refutations.
    So, I'll start with my agreements. The combat can be pretty slow. Compared to the other Xenoblade games, this game pads the enemies with HP hardcore, and it made it pretty difficult for me to stomach the first 10-15 hours or so as well. However, I knew that I had played the previous entries and enjoyed the combat, so I also knew I'd have some appreciation for the combat in this game. That being said, combat in this game is pretty similar to a lot of rpgs and jrpgs. You tend to have very little at your disposal at the beginning of the game, but the system opens up as you progress. Unfortunately, being only 10-15 hours into the game, you had little in the way of combat, as I did during that time. Meanwhile, it's important to note that the game made things into HP sponges *because* of their combat system. If you understand it from the get-go, you're rewarded.
    Another somewhat agreement is that the voice acting was super bad at the beginning. That line where Rex yells while bursting through the floor made me cringe so hard, but as the game continues, the VAs settle into their roles, at least in my opinion.
    Next, enemies. This is a pretty big argument against Xenoblade games and I totally get it, but the Territorial Rotbart is a relic from Xenoblade 1, and you should have seen (or not seen) that guy with the draw distance of the Wii console. However, for me, the enemy system has always been a strength of the Xenoblade series. Having enemy levels increase by area as the game progresses is unrealistic in a legitimate world, which is something Monolith strives to create. Furthermore, enemies serve more purpose than simply "experience," as you made it sound. Yes, I would never kill a baby Armu to grind exp, but I would potentially farm one if I got a Rare Blade that wanted me to kill them for affinity, or if there was a quest that asked me to, or if there was a specific drop (accessory, chip, or aux core).
    Important things that I've noted. This is probably my least favorite Xenoblade game thus far. In the previous entries, I was more than happy to do some quality exploration, but this game doesn't reward nor encourage exploration. Same with sidequests. I beat the main story and only did maybe 3 sidequests. Now, I admit this is not the case for many people, but I also feel that I've explored and sidequested myself out after my 100% run of Xenoblade Chronicles, my 99% of Xenoblade Chronicles X, and all the time I spent exploring in Black Desert Online and Breath of the Wild.
    My main reason for writing this is to hopefully give you a reason to continue the game. I personally feel the cutscenes got better and as the combat opened up more, I enjoyed it. I just feel the beginning of the game was a slog and the rest of the game shouldn't be avoided based on it.

      The thing is, he probably doesn't talk to people which is fatal in JRPGs. There are like 2000 NPCs telling you all about the advantages of item pouches, and other mechanics. The system literally forces you to interact with item pouches in order to level your blade's skill tree. Which he didn't do because he quit after 15h in the tutorial world, so he didn't even got to see that happening.

  • @TheDorianTube
    @TheDorianTube Před 2 lety +2

    The combat is hit or miss depending on how much info you have. Unfortunately the game does a terrible job at explaining it. I had to watch a 30m video fully dedicated to the system in order to get all the little things I can do. The auto-attack can be double cancelled for example. If you played the game you already know about the normal cancelling, but there's another move you can do.
    At the first animation hit, you tap the directional stick which cancels the animation and restarts it. This means that you can chain first hits in a row very fast that make your Arts build thrice as fast. This gives you a great control over the Blade Combos timing and the number of them that you can do in a single fight. Coupled with the break-topple etc system and chain attacks, it vaporizes things.

      @Pandactyl Před 6 lety +43

      Joey Greathouse Ah, yes. Because tutorials reveal how bad a game is, not how complex it is. XC2 should take its unique, complex systems and throw them all at the player at once without explanation. I'm sure that wouldn't leave anyone feeling completely overwhelmed or frustrated.

    • @harshamohite1289
      @harshamohite1289 Před 6 lety +22

      That's not quite true, Joey. The best games are ones where the tutorials aren't overwhelming. I know it's passed around in game design circles that you should eliminate a tutorial when at all possible, but tell me -- can you really play a strategy game like Civilization 5 without a tutorial? No, you'll be hopelessly overwhelmed. Not all games can eliminate tutorials. Often times, for games as complex as Xenoblade Chronicles 2, you'll be drowning in tutorials right from the start so it can throw all its mechanics at you. However, Chronicles 2 drip-feeds each of its mechanics to you at a very nice pace. You're given a handful of things to worry about and then ample time to experiment and play around with them before you're given the next mechanic. That's why there's tutorials 15 hours in. Because the game is slowly adding interesting complexity in a way that's not at all overwhelming, and giving ample time to play around with every new thing you learn. It's an example of tutorials done right.

    • @tonygomer8752
      @tonygomer8752 Před 6 lety +3

      I think his point is that at 15 hours in you shouldn't need to be still on tutorials. You should have been fully engaged and additional content should be easily integrated into the existing 14 hours of learning you have done.

    no need to apologize so much about having a contrarian opinion. If people get heated, that's on them. All that matters is that if you give an opinion, just make it on facts and explain your stance. That's the whole point of a review. Reviews aren't meant to just cater to people that like the game and not offend people. I don't agree with some of your issues with the gameplay, but it doesn't sound like certain types of RPGs are for you. Xenoblade is a series with complex mechanics to learn, and it has an extended amount of learning. It's not like an old Final Fantasy where it has less mechanics in the mix due to turn-based.

    • @bradyntoy4755
      @bradyntoy4755 Před 6 lety +7

      Ok, I appreciate and partially agree with your opinion, but here's what you're missing. It's true that when fighting lower leveled opponents the auto-attack feature will finish them off for you by itself, but enemies that are closer to your level will take a lot of timing and precision to kill. This game isn't about fast reflexes, it's about patience and knowing when to strike. This video was informative to those of you who haven't played the game, but it was also a tad flawed and (like everything) biased. The enemies he was fighting in this video were all a lower level than he was, and that soldier part is very early on in the game. Right now, I'm at chapter 4 of the game with over 24 hours of gameplay and the tutorials just started slowing down in chapter 3. If anything, this just goes to show you how complex the system actually is. BeatEmUps only showed gameplay up to chapter 3 where a lot of the mechanics change. This game is not a classic reflex-based competitive shooter and should not be treated as one. This game is a tactics and strategy role play game with a unique battle system. The problem with this video is that it didn't explain how complicated the battle system is. Auto attacks charge your active abilities which let you activate a final ability that has up to four levels of charge. your active abilities can be upgraded to have faster cooldown times and damage, and if timed correctly, can combo with other active abilities from you and/or your team. There are also plenty of different items that can be equipped or consumed that grant interesting bonuses. some consumables even charge your active abilities for you so you get them even faster! Most active abilities have special mechanics that let them do more damage or have a special combo effect, and some of them will change as you progress in the game. If you don't like the slow pace of the auto attacks, you can EASILY resonate with a new core crystal and get another blade that suits your style better. Each one comes with their own set of active abilities, and you can switch between blades mid battle to take advantage of multiple effects. When fighting an equally leveled opponent in the mid to late game, you have to be actively participating in the battle by observing the current flow of the battle and waiting for opportunities to strike. A lot of moves may seem really weak at first, but if you know what you're doing and wait for just the right moment when you use abilities to break/topple/launch/etc your opponent you can strike with your special moves to really hit hard. Currently, I'm ranked as a diamond player in Overwatch, and have sever hundred levels in that game. I'm just saying that as a field of reference. I love competitive shooting games, but I don't think that's where anyone needs to draw the line. If you want to limit yourself to that category, be my guest. I won't try to stop you. I'm only pleading to you and to people with opinions like you to take everything you see and hear with a pinch of salt. Not everything is how others describe it to you. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things that I don't like about this game, and you can hear a lot of them from this guy if you watch his video again, but there are a LOT of things I LOVE about it, and I'd hate it for anyone to miss out on this game without giving it a proper chance. Honestly though, the voice acting really is TERRIBLE. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to make Rex's voice sound like a bootleg shulk ripoff, but they need to reconsider their actions and atone. Thank GOD Japanese is a language. Well.. I guess that's all I wanted to say.. Thanks for sticking around long enough to read all of this I guess.

    I know you refuse to play this game, and I respect that.... but the way point system isnt messed up. All the ones you cant find the objective for are either collect quests or salvage quests. Aka: go to salvage points and collection points to find the items you need for the quests. Mechanical items are always salvage and everything else can be found at the shovel points.
    Also I understand about the high level monsters thing, but it was part of Xenoblade 1 as well, and it is part of the exploration learning the monster's movement patterns and territories so you can pass them. Admittedly Territorial Rothbart is in the worst place because you need to be aware of where he is and how to avoid him. Many of your quests in gormott involve navigating past him. The next few Titans you go to tend to be much better, (besides one section of MorArdain where you gotta just run for your life because they're all level 80-- but I also cheese my way past that gate every time sooooo)
    For the getting lost thing, I reccomend the skip travel button. It helps you with learning the major locations on the map. (Not that I think you'll pick this up after over a year, but still- hoping anyone else that may feel the same as you may take a chance by following this advice)

    There _is_ a problem and that's the timing within conversations. I guess it's a result of the translation and not changing the timing between when one character's speaking ends and another one begins. So you get awkward pauses where there really shouldn't be any but that's not been a deal-breaker for me.

      That's not my point. My point is most of the time, animes or overly-weeb things work really porly when dubbed, because they either come across as emotionless (Like in this case, most of the times) or overacting, and bad acting in general like in the old 4kids dubs. The only way I could really see it work is if they re-wrote the dialouge entierly instead of adapting the original and trying to imitate how the original voices sounded, like Funimation or an Abridged Series would do.
      Also, I'm pretty sure there's not an option for the Japanese voices, you need a patch to do that.

      Judging by your profile pic you're a weeb which is fine, but you can't just bash a dub with no other reason than "sub is better omegalul"

    Holy sh*t a video criticizing XC2 without spending 4 hours talking about non-existent fanservice!!

    I don't know if its because I've played the first one before this one but omg i have fallen in love so far and im only 15 hours in, the combat has got its hooks in me even if the enemies do take a little too long to kill and the story is very intriguing, just waiting for it to kick into high gear
