- The college application has been a rollercoaster ride for me! The application process itself was complicated and applying to lots of institutions + different countries made the process harder for me. At the same time, I made sure to maintain my grades and keep working on my passions (no procrastination lol). Every country has its own application process and has its own difficulties but the process itself taught me to be efficient, patient, and just, in general, to get to know more about myself. Applying to the US as an international student is hard but anything is possible so don't give up! Months of waiting made me anxious but it was worth it. I am happy to share my stats and ECs. I am very pleased to announce that I've committed to Pomona College. I will be double majoring in International Relations and Public Policy Analysis. Future peers, see you guys soon and Cali here I come!

Lots of people have been so helpful during my college application journey. First of all, I want to thank my family (dad, mom, sister, and brother) for being so supportive in so many ways and for loving me unconditionally. I wouldn't be where I'm at without their support. Congratulations. Why Pomona over Duke?
I have a few reasons why I committed to Pomona over Duke. First is financial aid. I received almost a full-ride from Pomona while I didn't get any financial aid from Duke despite appealing my case to the financial aid office. Second, Pomona is a liberal arts school and I love the whole approach that they take with it. Generally, most liberal arts school don't have grad school which means that professors actually teach students, and the opportunities such as internships, resources, and research are all directed towards undergrads. Pomona also helps its students a lot by offering mentors and advisors, in my case I have 4 or 5 advisors/mentors. The college also does a good job preparing students for graduate school which is also very important for me as my career requires me to get at least a master's degree. I felt that Pomona's admin, alumni, and current students were welcoming compared to Duke. I don't know if this makes sense to you.

Congratulations on Pomona, Duke, etc! Since I’m assuming your letters of recommendation were written in Korean (were they?), did you have to translate them to English through an official translator?
I attended an American school in Guatemala, so my letter of recommendation was written in English.

Duke didn't accept me full funded but Pomona did.
It was a very motivational video for me. Did you have SAT or ACT scores? Also, it would be helpful to me to know about your Stats.
I got waitlisted from Stanford. The desicions haven’t come out yet. What should I do?
I've heard a few cases of people getting off the waitlist in late July - Early August but it's very rare. I think the best thing you can do is to focus on the current school that you are committed.

@@ayxansafarov1859 I don't think they will be comfortable with me mentioning names but I've seen a few people getting off from waitlists on reddit, zeemee, and platforms like that. However, there are less people getting off from the waitlist this year.
