This is fantastic. As a past owner of two VW campers, I'd buy this one in a second. And so would lots of my friends. This is the next gen camper we've all been waiting for. Just make it VW. Be the leader you used to be.
I loved mine-- 1971, Wolfsburg. A place for everything. Now, if this one had a turbo diesel front drive-- it would bring in a whole new era of travel. I think we are heading in that direction anyway-- trains instead of planes. Back roads instead of interstates.
Best concept ive seen yet! what a total and wonderful use of all space in a beautiful design. Fantastic job to the designer. makes me want to sell the BMW, cant sleep in it.
I bought My first VW camper in 1972.... I kept it until 1996. It was parked in my driveway when a stranger young lady on a bike and a backpack, knocked at my front door and said "how much do you want for your VW van?".... "It's not for sale".... I replied.... Well, she just won't quit and started to plead which ended up in tears after 15 minutes, yes, no, yes, no..... And finally yes, when she pleaded that she had no place to sleep.... At that juncture, my wife and I felt so bad that I let her have the camper for half what it was worth..... I signed over the pink slip, called my insurance agent, transferred the policy to her, she threw her bike inside and drove away after paying me cash. Four months later on my birthday, my wife secretly surprised me with a new 1996 VW Eurovan, as I missed my old camper..... It is 2017 and my Eurovan Camper is parked in my driveway in almost the same condition and has 110,000 miles on it.... All the miles are from camping trips..... Beaches, mountain tracks, driven through 30 states in USA including Alaska, Canada, and Mexico..... It's NOT for sale.... As I am planning a 28 day trip from Texas to Florida and up the coast to New England and return to Texas through the mid States..... About 3500 miles.... No worries, as this baby will keep going as long as I keep changing oil regularly and using mid grade gas..... I am 81.... And my wife and I go on camping trips with our two dogs and a cat..... Now the VW of the future is coming out with solar panels and what not..... But I am going to keep my Eurovan Camper as long as I live.....I will die before it does....
This is the second video for this van. The first was called Vernier or something like that at least 5 years before and was better. Supposed to have been a prototype in USA and was solar powered etc. Will try and find the video. Absolutely AWESOME.
VW, or the aftermarket industry, could offer this with a variety of external design 'skins' ranging from ultra retro T2 look right through to ultra modern renewable timbers, bamboo and hessian internal materials. This would increase their audience and leave no two new vans looking the same. It looks like a fantastic basis for a range convey similar to what BMW have done with the Mini but with thousands more combinations. Martin
C'mon VW, Make it so! Don't they realize how many of us old hippies now have money & nostalgia? We'd buy it in a heartbeat! That is what we dream of, exactly!
THIS IS AMAZING. I can't believe they're actually going to go through with it! Most cars/trucks/vans that I've ever wanted have been delayed/cut from the plans b/c they're always the amazingly new/different concept cars. :D
I hope ALL hippies get to see it happen! The old ones were/are sweet! But living in Colorado, drivers tend to flip you on the up direction of the mountains, I wouldn't mind that changing :) More power would be a lovely thing...and more heat!
VW do have engines in the back. But this is the future and I've already seen flat engines so may be he's imagined one of them up. It's not VW but I fall in love with this design every time!
Staatliches Bauhaus Wiemar "The Bauhaus had a profound influence upon subsequent developments in art, architecture, graphic design, interior design, industrial design, and typography."
I was hoping it was already made. There is such a demand for smaller camping vehicles, I can't abelieve the automobile companies haven't explored that venue.
This is amazing! I want an old bus but my problem is they aren't safe. It would be so awesome it they put the engine in the rear! Now if only I had 100K lol
BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME.......i Have been holding this vision for about ten years... PLEASE GOD HELP THEM BUILD IT...LOVE WILL LEAD THE WAY TO BUYERS ALL OVER THE WORLD...♥♥♥
this is really sweet. but it raises the question: with all the focus of convenience and comfort, why not just stay home? you could go hiking in a nearby forest for the day and come home in the evening for far less cash and the relatively same experience.
@danyofdeath No, the fabric on the sides are cloth. It's like a tent, it folds in and becomes flat. I know because I actually own a VW California, and my roof rises and has a double bed just like this one.
It would be nice to see more ideas though wouldn't it? The origional is so well loved, it deserves a lot more don't ya think? Please back me, don't get sucked in!
Build it build it build it this is lovely love at first sit perfect for family get aways I'm building a 71 pop VW would make mint if they build this we would buy two the mrs loves it to dam they (being VW MOTORS ) need to build these combies love it love it 100/10
the top part of the camper doesn't make anysense when you see it go down...where is it being stored does it just vanish. I think they need to re-think that part.
Love it!!! We have a gas eating machine right now and would love to have something smaller and still be able to have room when we camp. When is this going to be made? I want one!!
You know i would buy one of those :\ I'm a big fan of the van bus's and camper vans, I drive a gti as my fun car and a diesel rabbit as my DD....I will never ever buy any other kind of car :)
I don't understand where the top is going to pop out of. If you think about it, the thing that pops out of the top is going to need to come from somewhere. Other than that it seems awesome.
I love it!!! Please build it VW... I've had a few bay window & splits nreg & jreg... I'd buy this in a heartbeat first one off the production line... where do I queue? Love it!
WOW! Really a good idea! But i don't like the exterior design, more personality...it must be like a real thing! Like old vw van, the van with a soul inside! ;)
Yeah thats all great, but did any of you think about where all of the things that pop out of the vehicle goes, like if you look at 0:46...Thats a huge thing WITH A BED IN IT. Is it just meant to magicly disapear...Please respond!
este coche viajante es de verdad o es de juguete, super calidad magnifica me gustaria que fuera si porque conocer mundo es un premio de la naturaleza...
The song is called “Steeps” by the group Freeworm....
This is very nice! I love the old VW Campers. I like the idea of going back to the old style.
This song has been stuck in my head for 4 years
Luke's Parodies! 11 years in me
my g bring back luke parody
OMFG that one with the woodgrain is fuggin sweeeeet! I WANT ONE BAD!

That front swivel chair turning into a ladder was awesome!

the stairs to the roof with the bed is the coolest idea ive ever seen
This is the second video for this van. The first was called Vernier or something like that at least 5 years before and was better. Supposed to have been a prototype in USA and was solar powered etc. Will try and find the video. Absolutely AWESOME.
i would buy this in a heart beat. its very sweet. i love the add on

Such a beautiful and practical design...would be so popular!! (I'd buy one, for certain!)
the front-seat to staircase idea is magic!
A funky idea, but lacks all the sexy curves of the classic VW Camper! The cool thing would be to keep the classic look, adding all the new features.
VW do have engines in the back. But this is the future and I've already seen flat engines so may be he's imagined one of them up. It's not VW but I fall in love with this design every time!
Staatliches Bauhaus Wiemar "The Bauhaus had a profound influence upon subsequent developments in art, architecture, graphic design, interior design, industrial design, and typography."
if this was ever made i would totally buy it and probably just start to live in it haha.
So cool! perfect design:) .. will see what it looks like in real life... that if its ever will materialize :)
Yeh it is pretty awesome
its 2018 and we still haven't seen this. VOLKSWAGEN STEP UP
Reminds me of my old 1971 Transporter. I hope dealer network improves.
I was hoping it was already made. There is such a demand for smaller camping vehicles, I can't abelieve the automobile companies haven't explored that venue.
agreed nothing is better than the original, long live the air cooled VW bus!
The top part has a hard roof but the side bits are fabric so you just tuck it in, but I agree, even then it's a bit iffy
You have actually got that design close to the California. Nice campervan anyway.
yah V-Dub should totally bring back the camper bus lol that would be so awesome id buy 10 haha
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!! THAT IS AMAZING! Hope VW sees this!
love the solar panels on the roof.
Go One Volkswagen ....I dare you to build it... I love my 68 Beetle, and previously owned a 1974 Bay, but love this!!!!!!
the tent aspect of it is simply AMAZING!!
This is amazing!
I want an old bus but my problem is they aren't safe. It would be so awesome it they put the engine in the rear!
Now if only I had 100K lol
If this is ever made, I would buy it.
Make the front molding drop in the front like a split window. At that very moment, you will achieve perfection.
i would by this car in a heartbeat.
not something similar......but one exactly like this video.
awesome.
I would never trade in my vw bus but i would buy this and park it right next to it. Awesomeeee.
even if a design like this were to make it into production, they would just give it a little 4 banger again -.-
@danyofdeath No, the fabric on the sides are cloth. It's like a tent, it folds in and becomes flat. I know because I actually own a VW California, and my roof rises and has a double bed just like this one.
My Future Car. ..Saving every penny for it when it comes out.
the musics called freeworm, u can google it and they have a website and a myspace and btw thats a really really cool van!
WHOA!!!!!SO AWESOME AND MAKES A SHADOW AND A BED!!!! DID YOU SEE THAT?!?!
Sweet i love VW pure German Style !
i hope the design on the tent/awning portion is solid. it looks like there will be much pain getting that all setup.
they just really need to bring these transporters/buses back!!
Great ideas and well executed 3d kinematics
It would be nice to see more ideas though wouldn't it? The origional is so well loved, it deserves a lot more don't ya think? Please back me, don't get sucked in!
ahh dude the stair seat part was so cool
Love the design and the ideas but if they ever make it(unlikely :( )
they should add the traditional "V" at the front.
___yeah perfect home anywhere! almost anywhere, but pretty cool!
Who what when and where! I like the fact both sides open up.
beautiful...very gorgious ...
Build it build it build it this is lovely love at first sit perfect for family get aways I'm building a 71 pop VW would make mint if they build this we would buy two the mrs loves it to dam they (being VW MOTORS ) need to build these combies love it love it 100/10
thats lush! i will look out for it in future!
Yes, build it - I LOVE IT - Modern Haus on wheels!
wow... that thing looks BAD-ASS!!
That shit looks like a grow op on the go, I WANT
the top part of the camper doesn't make anysense when you see it go down...where is it being stored does it just vanish. I think they need to re-think that part.
Now if it would just fold up into a briefcase that would be awesome.
Very nice concept, but i have to agree with timbome about what vw is doing lately with the van.
Love it!!! We have a gas eating machine right now and would love to have something smaller and still be able to have room when we camp. When is this going to be made? I want one!!
When hunting, we will use the Volkswagen camper like this to drive and camp!
You know i would buy one of those :\
I'm a big fan of the van bus's and camper vans, I drive a gti as my fun car and a diesel rabbit as my DD....I will never ever buy any other kind of car :)
This is so fricking beast!
WOW! i want it. my mouth is open and im so happy its gona come back!!!
VIVA LA KOMBI!!!!
INCREÍBLE!
cool that roof thing looks tight
it'd be perfect if it looked like an old van
I don't understand where the top is going to pop out of. If you think about it, the thing that pops out of the top is going to need to come from somewhere. Other than that it seems awesome.
I love it!!! Please build it VW... I've had a few bay window & splits nreg & jreg... I'd buy this in a heartbeat first one off the production line... where do I queue? Love it!
That's enough to make even the Japanese jealous!
Inspiring, I am heading off to do my own render right now! Coroflot / 42Fish
2 words: killed it.
unfortunately, because of crash standards, we will probably never see another flat nose van... i love the design though.
@standardmagnus In the old models, it used to go in the boot (not very safe in the case of a rear collision, but so it went).
Not bad, but it needs that retro white V paint job on the bonet to look like a T1.
looks neat. I love what it can do! How did you make this?
i have the Jonny Lightning toy car of this concept id take this bus for sure
i would so buy this if it was out on the market!
WOW! Really a good idea! But i don't like the exterior design, more personality...it must be like a real thing! Like old vw van, the van with a soul inside! ;)
I would buy in a second.
Build it already...as a hybrid. I'll buy it.
FLWRCHILD LUVS THIS!!!..I WANT ONE!
Awesome, but be sure to make it rear engine again.
Looks great, I WANT IT !!!
Yeah thats all great, but did any of you think about where all of the things that pop out of the vehicle goes, like if you look at 0:46...Thats a huge thing WITH A BED IN IT. Is it just meant to magicly disapear...Please respond!
damn i want one. gonna sell my house to buy one, and travel the west.
Love it
nice concept lets hope they do something with it
I Love it
este coche viajante es de verdad o es de juguete, super calidad magnifica me gustaria que fuera si porque conocer mundo es un premio de la naturaleza...
Extremely kewl! Sign me up for one.
This is the prototype? It's very cool! I like that.
They'll never make it. They love to tease us with the great concepts
in the back and under the trunk if its like the original 1960's model.
OH MY GOD AWEOSME
