This is truly great. Legend tells of a modified VW Bus on the drag circuits, east coast of Australia, that would wheelstand down the quarter mile. There were holes cut out of the flooring so the driver could see.
Sweet! It's the ultimate bus! That's hilarious to me because we used to have a VW Westfalia that was S-L-O-W, so to see one of these vans kicking ass on the track is awesome!
he must have a great view from up there! bet that will help him plan out his lines more when the little cars are around! lol! looks comfy in there with all that room!

I had a 71 Westfalia Camper but because of its weight, my brother built a beefy reliable engine, (Holly/Weber-should've got 48 Webers-chromemoly pushrods, etc). The paint was oxidized chalkboard green, it had some rust, (now guys do this on purpose, lol)! I can't believe the cars he is passing, tho mine handled better than my sisters new 70's Chevy Van. I would get the weirdest looks as I passed newer VW vans up hills, lol! My main ride was a 1957 356-A Porsche, good times!
If I was racing along and that van passed me I'd be laughing my ass off. That is so awesome. I feel sorry for the guy in that Elise... "Best handling car in the world and I got passed by a VW BUS!"
If you enjoy driving, you do it well. If you love your car, you treat it well. Getting beat out by a vw bus in a road race will make you hate your car and ruin driving for LIFE. I see that look on peoples faces everyday when I maneuver past them in my 62 Beetle.
hey geek. There are 2 models in 1963, early & the LATE model. I owned a 1963 Panel Bus/Transporter, & it was the early model because of its smaller sized rear window. The late model has a much wider rear window. Sometimes there are swaps done on the rear door/hatch. It is then, preferred to check vin#,to be definite. This microbus is SICK. I will have to race my next 1 out, for sure. I thought of just turbo boosting a VW race block, or install a beefed up Porsche engine.?.We'll see.
I wanted to do this for awhile... Not necessarily a porsche drive train, or a race van, maybe do like a VRT swap or something... But I wanna build a VW camper van that will tow my boat.
Nah, the flat6 of a porsche fits pretty well inside even a bug. It is a bit of work to get them to fit, but you can nurse them in. Hell, you can swap scooby engines into bugs.
putting a Veyron SuperSport on a bare chassis with some carbotanium aerodynamic bodykit arround it would make it also go around a track like this one...
thats fucking amazing. I wish they had left the exterior as stock though, just to take the piss a bit more as you accelerate away from 'fast' cars like they are going backwards. I'd love to see some footage of it out on the Autobahns hunting down exotics. lol
