The moment I saw pendraeg is was like “King Arthur.” That alone made Hawkwing one of my favorite characters in the series

Hawkwing's defeat in the Waste is RJ's Third Age version of Napoleon's loss in his attack on Russia. Substitute a dessert for a snow covered land in the middle of winter.

Great video! I can’t imagine the level of research you had to put into this. Love the choice of background music as well.
Small comment: your vocals are soft compared to the background track (and is softer than other CZcams videos, so the adverts blast your ears). Next time maybe boost them or check with earphones before uploading.
Using some (or more) dynamic compression can make a big difference too, so you don't end up boosting the loudest transients of your voice too much but can instead bring up the lows to nicely sit above the bg music. Not sure what software you use but I'm sure there's a compressor built in. Try a slowish attack and fast release, 2:1 or 4:1 ratio and go for as much gain reduction as you can with it still sounding natural. Then you can bring the result up in volume much more evenly than before. Sorry if you already know this but if not hope it helps!

I like to think Artur Hawking as a "succesful failure" everything he did in his life turned out to be borderline meaningless. The only thing he really did was defeating the False Dragon, not a minor thing, mind you. But after that and WITH Ishamael influence. Artur Hawking pretty much failed at everything.... I think it is a great show of how destructive Ishamael could be and how strong Rand truly was at resisting and beating him. Being Ta'veren was certainly NOT an inmunity against the Forsaken.
Artur Hawkin, while a great man was a failure in almost everything he tried to do. Not because of him, but he certainly failed.
Very interesting video. I think I secretly don’t like the aes sadai, because it makes me happy knowing what happened to them during Hawkwing’s rule. But that being said I hate the Seanchan so I probably shouldn’t like Hawkwing. 😂

Definitely not. Rand had the previous Dragon talking to him in his head, and it wasn't Hawkwing.
Very interesting video. I am currently re-reading the book series, Book 10 now. I'm on the third re-reading and it's quite weird thinking that I've not watched the TV show yet because.. I'm just not interested.
The show isn't bad, necessarily. It's just very different. It's literally like watching the same story in a mirror world. Most of the same people, but everything is a little different.

Is there a reason Ishamael was released at Artur H's time? and what happened to him after that?
If I remember right, he wasn't properly locked in with the Dark One. Remember how the very first book starts out, with Ish taunting Lews Therin *after* the Dark One was locked up? He got pulled into the prison for centuries at a time, but he would occasionally get out for a few decades to wreak havoc.
@@ZlothZloth exactly, he probably was phasing in and out of the pattern of reality for those 3000 thousand years, which would explain how he became crazy and also how he came to view himself as the dark one's champion aka the shadow's dragon

I like this a HELL of a lot more than I do what Amazon is doing to the story. It's been a decade since I've read the last of the books, these videos remind me of how much better the books were than the bastardization series has been.

Please can you normalize the sound next time? The quiet beats are almost impossible to hear, but if I turn the volume way up, your louder beats are too loud. And what happened to Hawkwing's first wife? I assume she died before he remarried but I didn't hear you say anything about her death.. Oh I see, later you mention that she was poisoned along with his children. Must have missed that the first time. I also missed the part where he had children with his second wife. Am I just missing all of this important info because of the fluctuating volume, or wasn't it included?
I'm sorry to say, this is the worst video (as far as production value) I've ever seen on this channel. The topic is interesting, but there's important info missing and the variance in volume is *terrible*! I hope you're doing alright, Naebs.
