This was an impromptu rooftop concert, which was shut down by confused local police constables after Beatles production staff and management gave them the run-around to get a couple of additions songs off. Great story.
Re Billy Preston on keys, he basically served as a fifth Beatle on this album.

I appreciate it was The Beatles gig, but Lindsay-Hogg, the film director, should have told at least one of the camera guys to make sure to get some shots of Billy Preston too. I know he appears in some of the studio rehearsal footage, but I was really hoping for 'Get back' that Peter Jackson may have unearthed some additional performance footage for this track that might have been edited out of the original 'Let it be' film, but no, it's like Billy is still invisible. A real shame considering how much his contribution on keys adds to this song.

These guys were changing the way people thought in the 60s and are unquestionably the most influential band in the history of pop music. One thing to take note is they evolved with the times in the 60s so their music in 1964 isn't going to sound the same as what they were doing in 68. Check out Their Abbey Road album, it's the most iconic and considered their best work.

Both John Lennon and Paul McCartney were co leaders but, Paul was quoted, saying he considered John as the primary leader, both he and George Harrison looked up to John. John Lennon watched Paul playing in a band and liked what he saw, he waited for him to finish and went up to him and asked him if he would like to start a band with him and that was the beginning.

Billy Preston played keyboards on this one, and it is hard to imagine this song without him.... John and Paul were the main songwriters and were equally the "face" of the Beatles, and George also added some great songs.. for a "Paul" song, I suggest you watch them perform "Hey Jude" on the David Frost TV Show, or listen to the recorded version of "Let It Be", and for a "George" song, watch the official video for "Here Comes the Sun"

John and Paul wrote most of the Beatles songs but George Harrison wrote their biggest hit "Here Comes the Sun". Ringo did some really cool vocals too. They never had one lead singer making them so different that say the Rolling Stones at the time even if Keith Richards sang a few songs. The Beatles played long sets before they made it and no one of them could sing 12 hours a day.

When people speak of John and Paul (or Paul and John) re: songwriting, there really is no one who seriously contends that there has ever been, or will ever be, a better song-writing partnership. Aside from some early hits, in which they payed homage to the greats of the 1950's (chief among them, Chuck Berry), the Beatles wrote their own lyrics and music.
That's one of the things that set them apart from the majority of 60's pop musicians. They were trailblazers on this point too.
Again, as I wrote in a comment to your previous reaction, one of the key factors in the Beatles' break-up was the fact their originally agreed deal on songwriting (with most songs contributed from John and Paul [who always shared co-writing credits, even if only one of them arguably wrote all of an individual song] with just a couple of spaces reserved for George. As much a musical genius as John and Paul, George was bound to eventually rue the original deal as stifling. George's manifest genius particularly revealed itself in the Beatles's final few records, in hit songs such as:
    - "Something"
    - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
    - "Here Comes the Sun"
You should try one of them next.

John Lennon/Paul McCartney, the greatest songwriting duo in history wrote the great bulk of the Beatles songs, but George Harrison was also coming on line by the end of the Beatles in 1969, which was the end of their 8 year run as a group. Others are giving good suggestions for songs for you, but to give you a flavor of George's songs I offer the following suggestions: 1.) Here Comes The Sun 2.) Something 3.) Old Brown Shoe and 4.) While My Guitar Gently Weeps. As a rule in the Beatles (there were rare exceptions) the main songwriter would take the lead vocals while the others (usually minus Ringo) would take the backing vocals. Nice program; looking forward to your future Beatles journey!

Definitely an R&B song. The Beatles wrote in so many different styles. The Beatles are the biggest selling music artist of all time (Elvis is #2, Garth Brooks #3, Michael Jackson #4, and Led Zeppelin #5). John Lennon and Paul McCartney were the two main lead singers and songwriters, but George Harrison had some amazing contributions as well. If I were you , I would review their entire catalogue. You could start with their first album (Please, Please Me) and go in chronological order until their final released album "Let It Be". A lot of other reactors either have done that or are doing that as well. If not, then there are so many, many great songs to choose from, hard to pick just one for your next reaction, but I'll go with a George song off of the Beatles "White Album". The song is called "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". I attached the link below.

There was no "face" of the Beatles. There is a reason they were called the Fab4 and everybody knows all 4 of their names. John and Paul were the dominant writers and they traded off singing mainly based on who what the lead writer for the song (all their songs are attributed Lennon/McCartney but it common knowledge that most of their songs were mainly written by one or the other). However, all 4 sang and George wrote several songs that I would put in the Beatles top 10.

Yes, it was considered Lennon's band in the early days, but McCartney began contributing stronger compositions by mid-1965 up until the breakup. McCartney's influence was plainly obvious by the time Sgt Pepper was recorded. As Lennon increased his LSD consumption, he literally lost interest in his leadership role. That, plus with the death of their manager in 67, McCartney felt it was his responsibility to take control.

As I mentioned in my comment to the last song, all four Beatles were legends both individually and collectively (e.g. each of them were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for their post-Beatle careers).

The Beatles were John's group. He asked Paul to join knowing full well that Paul was at least an equal. George was a friend of Paul's and joined shortly thereafter. They picked up Ringo while doing gigs in Germany in the 1950s. John and Paul wrote the vast bulk of their material although early on it was customary to do 'cover' tracks for customer familiarity. It didn't take long and soon were recording only their own material. George wrote several great tunes along the way. Ringo has written 2.
To have an idea of how talented these guys were, after the broke up all of the members had very successful solo careers. I know of no other group where this has happened. I believe the Eagles come the closest.
None of the Beatles could read or write music and yet changed the face of popular music forever. Enjoy your journey.

John Lennon was the founding member and, for most of their career, the acknowledged "leader" of the Beatles. But it's NOT the same thing as the Jackson Five or other groups where one member is clearly the standout, the dominant force. The Beatles, uniquely, consisted of four equal band mates. All would sing lead at various times, though most often it was Lennon or McCartney. But George Harrison wrote and sang some of their very best tracks. And every one of the four - John, Paul, George, and Ringo - was essential to making the Beatles what they were.

One can't probably shouldn't compare it. The success curves of Swift and the Beatles are completely different. The Beatles came into the world like a Big Bang, Taylor Swift has developed into what she is now within a decade and a half. In addition, the requirements from the 1960s do not apply today. She has already broken Beatles records. For example, the Beatles were TOP 5 in the US charts in 1964. In November 2022 they occupied the entire top 10. But today, with streaming and downloads, it's easier, to get many titles into the charts at the same time, as it was the case with only selling records.
Incidentally, Beatles records have also been broken by other artists before, which is simply due to the fact, that modern popular culture as we know and (mostly) love it today, and which was only made possible by the Beatles, has continued to grow and has played a role for more and more people. By the way, it doesn't matter, if someone sells more records, than the Beatles at some point. That doesn't reduce, what the Beatles achieved. The chart record stood for 58 years (!), the 20 No.1 hits in the USA are still the best, but records are there to be broken.

This was way before "made up acts" by corporation.. These dudes just grew up together and learned to sing and play on their own, started writing their own songs when they were still in their teens. Lennon and McCartney wrote ( and sang) the bulk of the songs, but their lead guitarist George Harrison bloomed as a powerhouse singer/songwriter in the mid 1960's making this band having 3 amazing composers and super vocalists.
Yes John was initially "the leader" but only because he had the strongest personality and "the rebel" so he fronted the band in the first couple of years and was the most outspoken, when they first made it big.
He even almost told the Queen Mother off onstage on an early performance right before their last song at a posh "Royal gig" in 1963, before they sang "Twist and Shout" which is still hilarious to watch to this day... (He had told he manager he would tell her Majesty where to stuff it, before they went on... he ended up just saying something clever, and only indirectly offensive - different times)
