    Thank you for this series. It’s great 👍🏻

      I love his work too, I think the reason might be cause he rambles and sounds like he's had too much coffee or something. Sounds rushed. It makes it a real task to get your head around what he is saying.
      The videos could be better planed with more structure and clearer explanation.
      Maybe rather than doing the video in one take he should think about editing in short spurts.

    Yep, there is a lot to dive trough. This series gives great depthful insight as i just bought pc2 on sale. What is cool is that the game has the Mitsubishi Lancer TME, which has the same chassis that the base models from 93 onwards all the way to the one before the 2f2f evo that they fucked everything up. And i have 4 of those base models on my yard, so setting up the car is actually simulation work, and your videos have been a great starting point in a new game.

    Somewhat misleading...
    The springs are meant to control the suspension travel and weight transfer of the car but springs tend to oscillate.
    Thus the dampers main function is to manage the springs tendency to oscillate or the speed at which it compresses and extends.

    • @VinReho
      @VinReho Před 6 lety

      Yes you're correct. But I don't find this any misleading. As those spring compressions are caused by either
      A. the driver input
      adjust slow bump -> balance with slow rebound
      B. the road surface
      adjust fast bump -> balance with fast rebound.

Would appreciate some advice in this area regarding diff setup, can't seem to get to grips with it somehow to suit my driving style and why is there no centre diff on these cars or maybe they don't use them ? Does damper transition setting work for cross transitions like fast bump to slow rebound or slow bump to fast rebound too?

  • @romangaspar8208
    @romangaspar8208 Před 5 lety

    At 8:39 you mentioned, that increasing the values will make them stiffer and react quicker. This section a bit confusing me. Is that means if the rebound is stiffer (higher values) the decompression is faster and more powerfull? I always tought that this value representing damping force during the decompression. This means to me that higher rebound values prevent to damper to extend (so the damper will react slower during the extension). Can you please confirm that or explain it to angain? If it works as you describing, I'm doing these setting wrong since project cars 1. Thank you

  • @MrAyybee2cold
    @MrAyybee2cold Před 6 lety

    Bump stops depend on track. And they work inverse to how you explained it if you need more travel reduce bump stops less increase the stops. In a P2 car for example I use anywhere from 15mm to 40mm depending on the track

    • @MrAyybee2cold
      @MrAyybee2cold Před 6 lety

      Also less bump stops are more for mechanical grip more is for aerodynamic grip.

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  Před 6 lety

      The way i explained it is the same as your explanation, just worded differently. But yeah, it does depend a lot on the car and also the track.

    Question, that suspension calculator, is there a version 4 smartphones?

  • @victorball7772
    @victorball7772 Před 4 lety +1

    When you say “increase” do you mean the absolute value or the actual value¿. For example if I go from -1100 to -1200 I am decreasing in terms of the value but the absolute value is lower

    • @VinReho
      @VinReho Před 3 lety

      The rebound values are - signed because the spring is extending (releasing it's stored energy).
      So a value of -1200 is stiffer rebound compared to a value of -1100.
      Also a value of 1200 on the bump side is stiffer then a value of 1100 on the bump.

      Very difficult to say without understanding what the car is doing in relation to your inputs and how it is handling over the curbs and bumps on the track. Will also depend on your suspension settings as well as they somewhat compliment each other.

      Yorkie065 well suspension wise on springs one click up from default all round,camber default -3.2 all round, anti roll bar front is 160 rear is 40 that’s all I can remember off top of my head lol but like a stable car! Car don’t like the curbs or the bumpy straight lol

    Loving these videos yorkie, you're a life saver. But this game just frustrates me 80% of the time. I'm on Xbox and it seems like if i run more than 16 AI the car is undrivable and there is no grip, with tyres at either 20 or 120 degrees C, rendering the career mode useless. Yet i can go into private testing and have proper amounts of grip, tyres go straight up to 90 degrees, i set wicked times and have a blast. The live track 3.0 and tyre modeling sounds all lovely, but i feel it simply doesn't work properly on Xbox unless you're in private testing or running like 10 AI. Adding in another class of cars like LMP2s with GTEs also seems to turn the car into a toboggon.

    Bit of a newbie on this, but if, for instance I'm adjusting front slow bump, should I be adjusting rear or front slow rebound to compliment? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  Před 5 lety +1

      Uhhm, not necessarily no. It depends on how much you're adjusting the dampers by. You'll want to adjust the two front dampers in unison and if adjusting individual dampers to give with an asymmetrical setup, not go too far from the other side. But if making small fine adjustments, you can do say just the slow bump or whatever it is you're adjusting to fix whatever issue it is that you have. Just don't go say madly stiff on the front but keep the rear soft, you've gotta tune and have the dampers reflect what you're doing with the suspension.

    • @treagust1974
      @treagust1974 Před 5 lety

      Thanks for the reply. It was more trying to dial out under steer on braking and turn in, so was stiffening the front slow bump and softening the rear slow rebound.

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  Před 5 lety +1

      I'd be looking more at the coast ramp on the diff, the preload and possibly the overall suspension to solve that. Dampers are more to compliment the suspension and make sure the car handles bumps and the curb properly. You can do some finer tuning with the dampers for car balance, but it is pretty fine and marginal stuff rather than bigger more impactful changes.

      @@Yorkie065 At this moment I use Aston Martin GT3 but I tried different cars: GT, Road, Touring.

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  Před 5 lety

      Ok, yeah the Aston requires quite stiff suspension and dampers to get the most out of it. The car doesn't feel particularly amazing on hard tyres anyway no matter what you do, with mid corner understeer and then power oversteer on exit. Check out my latest race video 'A Dramatic Online Tale' to see the latest setup I have for the Aston GT3. As for other cars, suspension is always going to be your first port of call for car feel. Dampers is more for fine tuning with how it responds to bumps and your driving, but they do make some differences when tuned right.

  • @EelkoA

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  Před 5 lety

      Entirely depends on the track, the conditions and the suspension settings that I have on the car. It's not a case of 1 set of settings fits all, they're different each time depending on the variables and the feeling of the car. There's an episode later in the series where I show you me creating a tuning setup for the M6 for an upcoming league race.
