    Dave, I really appreciate your approach to using old neglected things. Our entire country needs a total revival of that same attitude. Hats off to you my friend. All the best to you and the family. -Stephen, Ohio

    My 13 year old son just bought a 1971 Wheel Horse B-80. I am currently sorting out some of the problems. It runs good .......But LOL Needs Love and a lot of it.

      Sounds like he got a great project and I'm sure he'll learn tons from working on it. I just plowed my driveway today with one of my wheel horse tractors ( a 310-8)

    I love those older Kohler cast iron engines! My Uncle just gave me an old John Deere rider that he traded my Dad for years ago and is currently back in the pucker brush behind his place. Looking forward to tinkering with it to see if it's salvable. Thanks for another interesting bit of content, Dave ... see you down the road. God Bless

    Same thing I do. Mess around with the old stuff. People always have old stuff hanging around their back yards. When iam doing tree work.

    Realise you made this video a few years ago now, but thanks for making it. It brought a lot of find memories for me of driving the exact same model wheel horse around my grand father's farm in Herefordshire UK when I was 10 years old. Loved it, a superb very capable little tractor. You found a bargain there.

      My brother and I dropped it off to her the other day and she was stoked!. I think we were both into it for about $75 each when it was all done. I had to buy a new belt ,a pair of lift links for the deck etc.... so it was cheap for us and it meant a lot to her.

  • @pacificbushcraftandfirecra6358

    That wheelhorse is cool, except for the exhaust exiting in the front, cough-cough. I will always be JD fan after my uncle,
    who worked there, took me thru the factory near Moline, Il. I was forever impressed. Both are great finds Rabbit! TFS.

      Hey TSP, I agree with you on the JD thing. This is the first Jd product That I've had...other than a cycle mower and a disc....and its WELL MADE. Im impressed.

    I sighed when you said it has a gravity fed fuel system. I guess it doesn't wanna stay running lmao. It doesn't have a pump and I trust your assessment of the compression being too hihh

    Awesome! I love messing around with that old stuff! Its supersizing how little it actually takes to get that stuff up to snuff. Ive got an old John Deer mower project coming . Then a 1961 John Deere 4020 old farm tractor I hope to finish this summer!
    keep it up man, Love the vids

    You told me the other day you finished concrete and built cabins. I'm seeing some quality wrench work here. I had a pre 70 Polaris Colt Snowmobile with a Koehler engine ,I think 18 horse. It was a beast. The one in your tractor should work great.

    • @Bushradical
      @Bushradical  Před 7 lety

      Hey Dan! Thanks for the compliment. This dude actually didn't need much to run good...I expected to have to get into it further. I think I will take the carb off again and check the float level....it may be way off which would make it smoke a bit. I think its running a little rich. Rich but GOOD!

    LOL! Good on ya Dave. You and I are running the SAME play... Except my new project is a mid-80's/early 90's Craftsman 25hp hydrostatic garden tractor with a hydraulic 3-point I picked up for 50 bucks... FIFTY BUCKS!!! Same kind of thing as yours, got it fired up and it runs like a watch... Have to replace a front tire, and then I am down to working on the 50" deck, which is going to be a total rebuild. Gotta put a hustle on it too, because the grass is going to need a mow in a week or so.
    And just two weeks ago, a guy gave me an old John Deere 212 that will wind up being a bunch of work (though it runs nice)... Free is the right price.
    But those old Wheel Horse tractors are tough! Hopefully you can trip over some implements for it and expend it;s capabilities. Good luck!.

    • @Bushradical
      @Bushradical  Před 7 lety

      Awww man , I wish I had a deck! The JD has one but its going to my sister. The wheelhouse didn't come with one...but I'll keep looking. Let me know how your tractor project turns out!

    • @mountainson8688
      @mountainson8688 Před 7 lety +1

      Aw, start scouting ebay and keep a weather-eye out... you'll find one... BTW, for your logging operation with that Wheel Horse, try to rustle up a spare set of rear wheels... Think ag tires and calcium chloride.... and maybe a set of chains. I did that to an old 69 Gilson 12 hp that I restored (nigh on 20 years ago)... That ol girl will climb a tree. Jussayin.

    • @Bushradical
      @Bushradical  Před 7 lety

      I have a set of chains for my scotts lawn tractor that i've been using for firewood hauling....I'm just afraid that hydro rear end on the scots isn't up to hauling 700lbs of firewood at a shot! I will keep an eye out for the deck for sure. The weather here is garbage today so I will probably change that clutch pulley and belt. I might sell off a couple guitars too to free up some cash ...there is a JD 112 on CL for 200...and I'd like to get that one too.

    Hi Dave, these old WH tractors just do not quit. I have 2 1985 314-8 units here running and 1 1995 314-8 with a blown engine for parts. You might look into putting wide ag tires in the back for traction in the woods. Some guys also put them on the front axles too. With the ag tires I can pull large trailers around this horse farm if needed. Any bigger use we call on a 1952 Ford 8N for those tasks. Good video! Selling and knives??

    • @Bushradical
      @Bushradical  Před 4 lety

      Thanks for the tip. I have a set of chains on both my Wheel Horse tractors now, so they get around good. I plow with a 310-8 and haul wood with my B-80. I'm working on knives right now

      @@Bushradical How do I get in touch with you to buy one or ask you a technical question? The vid regarding the harbor freight saw blade sharpener has me all juiced up about sharpening my saw blades for spring projects around here. Windows , steel roof on small horse barn , fencing, round pen and more. Since I got my new Left hip last sept. ,I'm ready for spring and a future trip to Cody Wyoming. We will talk more.....bet on it.

    I will admit..i'm a bit envious as i hardly ever come across sweet deals like that...reckon that Wheelhorse will pay for itself in spades...atb...woods

    • @Bushradical
      @Bushradical  Před 7 lety +1

      Hey Woods! The guy I bought this one from had a super heavy old cub cadet too....But it just looked real hard to work on and lower to the ground too. Had a tranny like a car in it though. I used to have a ford 860 but it was way more tractor than I need. I tried a bit of farming but I have no idea what Im doing LOL. I sold the 860 last spring but I still need to haul wood , so I've been doing it with the lawn tractor and having fun...about a half a rick a load ...so its real slow but you can go anywhere. With my 860 and a 16" tandem axel I could take out 2 cord at a shot but the whole rig was 30' long!

      I saw a HUGE vice at the trap yard the other day and I almost picked it up...but it was from China.........but I doubt it would have cost more that $20 they charge .30 a pound and it must have been 50-65 lbs
