Who
You just don't expect an instrument to sound like that from the medieval age.
Apparently a large version of the hurdy gurdy was created and it was used in churches before the invention of the organ. It quickly lost its popularity after the organ was devised, up until smaller designs came around. Apparently hurdy gurdies are more common in Russia, played by "roaming beggars" according to the about section of this channel.
Where's the "organ and drum"?
@Damian Casas I mean, it was used by the byzantines alot, so middle ages is the correct answer
@@alphamoonman I'm kind of confused how beggars could afford a complex mechanical musical instrument that I could see costing more than a house in the middle ages, but I'm sure I'm just missing something somehow.

The hurdy-gurdy is life.
Ya fuk rap dis sht on fire!!!
I completely agree, this instrument and this musician is a game changer!
Right?!? Who would have guessed!?!
This is the gurdiest hurdy I've heard in a long time.
This is beautiful, thank you. Love it, it's full of magic.
Solitude of Alanna, tú tocas muy bien también, todo lo que tu tocas es muy hermoso, tanto en tu teclado como en tu zanfona. Deberías mostrarnos más de tu música en tus videos.
Check out reverse dance
alanna me gustaria que toques la cancion del pirata en tu zanfona😊
It sounds evil
So one moment I'm here listening to this, the next I'm getting my armour on, preparing to step onto the field of battle.
I have no idea what is in the context of the music notes that is so damn compelling to listen to but it's like my ears get lost in the rhythm of each chord that is played. It's intoxicating in a way. I love violin but this is ridiculously awesome.
You are not simply the violinist, you are the whole orchestra, good sir!
That is so cool. I'm about ready for a Hurdy Gurdy comeback! More Hurdy Gurdy!
I don't know why but the sound of this wonderful instrument and the music makes me feel elated but slightly anxious at the same time.
Музыка восхитительная , не такая как мы слушаем постоянно.... Мистическая , волнующе тревожная и в тоже время притягивающе БОЖЕСТВЕННА❤❤❤ СПАСИБО ИСПОЛНИТЕЛЮ....
This is incredible. A month ago, I never heard of a hurdy-gurdy. Now, it's one of my favorite instruments. Your music made me fall in love with it. I would love to hear even more from you!
Была вчера на концерте в лютеранском храме Петра и Павла, где выступали и вы. Это что-то волшебное! Ничего прежде столь очаровательного и гипнотического не слышала. Спасибо вам огромное!
Thumbs down, one moment I’m listening to this song and the next I’m in a cave hunting a dragon on a quest given to me from a villager.
2/10: The dragon wasn’t happy.
So glad I met someone else that had this happen.
[Edit] Forgot to type “this.”
one minute i'm listening to it, next thing i know i'm on a pirate ship fighting a Galleon in a storm
Fry Guy Im in a cave and next thing i know, this d*ck rolls up jamming this song, trying to get experience points, and Im like: "I'm gonna need about tree fiddy."
Tricia Cotton Dean 1) i bought the album 2) we meant no disrespect, you would hear this music in a video game 3) You must have unknown abilities to gleen someone's exposure to diverse culture from a simple internet post 4) As a dragon, im sorry i neglected to tell you of my caverns of gold. I consider it a financial issue.
Trey your new name is kermy droggo
1:23 & 2:48 - I hear the starting motif of Aequilibrium, another nice song he played, here 😊 I guess I could call it a variation or a different piece within a suite, especially since they are both sol minor.
the sound of the instrument and some parts of this song even, reminds me a little of traditional middle eastern music I hear sometimes at wedding dances and stuff.
It sounds like a woodwind instrument, that's so cool.
That's an awesome composition! I just love the interplay between the long chords and the quick melody! The slow chord progression bows down like a long tree branch while the melody swings above and below it, sometimes rolling back in on itself like strands of ivy, accenting the main decent. Just beautiful!
Adam Bragg I have no clue what you just said...BUT I AGREE
I've heard this instrument played before but never saw one played, nor have I seen one so well cared for. Thank you for sharing.
Cada tanto regreso a escuchar estás melodías que te transportan a otro mundo en el que eres un gerrero nordico🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴
Me to myself: this would be awesome with drums
* drums come in at 2:14 *
Me: YEET
So true! I got a friend who produces electronical dance music and she was also blown away from it, she already used this music in one of our tracks she is working on. We are planning to make psytrancemusic with this kind of music, surely we will ask the creator before releasing anything and mention him! I guess most of you can't enjoy this fast and very electronical "goa psytrance" but we would love to combine the cultures! In Psytrance people celebrate life, nature and well,i am honest...drugs like LSD and Mushrooms :D It's a very spiritual naturebound movement from the youth, hope our " stealing" from folk music wont offend anyone! We go old- and new ways and want to combine them!
It says drums in the title...
i mean, there were drums playing before that too but go off i guess
SPOILERS! Lol jk
Me and the party 7 hours into dungeon crawling when suddenly we hear this music and we all look to the DM betrayed as we’re all injured and out of spell slots

I love listening to him
I love the hook/refrain part at 1:22 - just gives me straight goosbumps
I pull my hat to you, Sir
I almost started crying listening to this. Absolutely beautiful.
It give me A feel of "once crowded with royal people, a mystrious dark mansion in the middle of woods , now it is abondoned .Your instrument narrating it's good old days ! I love how it make me feel
Im still trying to understand why this feels so familar.

Because, white supremacist bullshit aside, there's nothing "hateful" about recognizing the Celtic/Saxon "Folk-Soul". Fuck Nazis, Hail the Ancestors! Lo there do I see my father........

@@mackaylacook148 Collective Memory. Let me make it clear I'm not talking any kind of "Alt Right"/separatist racist bullshit. Having said that, if you're of European descent, there is a sort of genetic "Folk-Soul" that stirs when you hear European Folk music and that's true of all people. Afro-Cuban pop resonates especially well with people from the Caribbean. There's nothing supremacist about it, it's just like flute-and-drum spiritual ("worship") music has an appeal to native Americans.
Some kind of witchcraft lives in that instrument, I can feel it.
Sound is sentient and resides outside of time. You’re literally hearing one of your best friends’ past or future lives when you listen to...anything 💀
Are these songs are based on real medieval tunes, or you write them, in the style they wrote them back then?
I really enjoyed listening you playing! Subscribing right now to be sure that I'll hear more from you. Cheers from Hungary!
Yes, I write them myself, in the medieval style
Hats off sir! You are really talented.
Andrey Vinogradov Fantastic!
BRAVO! Think I'm playing your song for the 10th successive time. Can't get enough of it. Thanks you Maestro!
You have made me fall in love with the hurdy gurdy Mr Vonogadov.
Mr. Vinogradov your music has become my new favorite muse. As an budding author I like to listen to music relating to the materials of which I'm writing. At the moment I am working of medieval fantasy with tribal undertones. Your music is inspiring and perfectly fits the bill. Thank you.
I 100% agree with you, I do the same thing as well when it comes to listening to music related to the genre or plot.

This kind of music must have brought some light in the Dark Ages.. Beautiful.
I play violin, or I used to, and I play guitar. I wonder what the learning curve is on this. It touches my soul.
I just love this. Greetings from Hungary!
Everyone’s talking about Witcher, when the hurdy gurdy screams FF Crystal Chronicles for me 😭... That ate-up a sizable chunk of my childhood
wow you are very good and make beautiful music. i had to share this.
You are meant to play this instrument.. What mastery. Thank U!!!
Если бы в то время, когда училась в музыкалка, мне сказали выбрать между пианино и ЭТИМ, я бы не задумываясь выбрала Харди гарди. Это так красиво
Hurdy Gurdy not Hardy Gardy
@redspikehelmet7100 in russian, it is pronounced as "a" sound, and most of the vowels in the russian words are written the same as it sounds. Here is no mistake in харди гарди (hurdy gurdy)
Проще назвать ее Колесная Лира :)
i've listened to this about 30 times in the past few weeks since I first came across it. Something about it just speaks to my soul. I can't get enough. = ) Beautiful song. Thank you for bringing it to the world for us to enjoy = D
Thanks
Вау, это просто восхитительно!
Sounds like music from a battle during Witcher.
thats because lots of the music from the witcher has hurdy gurdy in it

Unbelievably cool! This video deserves about 200,000 more likes.
Came here ro check what is it. Ended up listening to the whole thing. Amazing.
Good time listening.
I have recently discovered this instrument through your channel within the last few days. I just want to say your music is breathtaking and the instrument is absolutely wonderful. Truly amazing, it brings tears to my eyes.
Sounds like a flute on the high notes. Awesome!
Verry verry nice🍀👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Every time I listen to your music, my inner beast dies and the old me is reborn.
you put this to play in Witcher 3 during some battle and I probably wouldn't notice that it's not from the official OST

Should be the dudelsack! (German bagpipes, yes, German bagpipes)
Welp. I want a Hurdy-Gurdy now. Someday.

Благодарю Вас за божественную музыку!
I had goosebumps the entire time I watched this. Absolutely incredible how beautiful this instrument is and his playing
Andrey Vinogradov, you should do themes for video games as well. I would sincerely buy a video game if you were the composer of its soundtrack.
I learned about the Hurdy Gurdy in music theory, ever since I heard of this Hungarian 'Symphony in a box' I've always wanted one. I love hearing the music, you play wonderfully sir!! Where'd you get your Hurdy Gurdy and how'd you learn to play, I'd love to know!! 😀
It is one of the costliest instrument in existence. A basic one will cost you 2000 USD
Nah, on Ebay a hobbyist (not pro) gurdy will run about 300$. Cheaper than student saxophones!
This has to be the most intriguing instrument I've ever seen & this man is the master! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
great sound. thanks for posting the video
I'm willing to bet that this guy knows a LOT about Japanese screen painting.
I love this, I think I'm gonna use it in my DND campaign
I did too
So fascinating! I'm so inlove with your playing. It makes me happy.
I'm hooked...and absolutely speachless ( which I'm not very often)...except, just wow.
Absolutely inspired playing, thank you. May I ask who your instrument maker is? The sympathetic strings really resonate beautifully.

I feel like I just found the lord of the dragons, and it's actually just a big ass snake who became known throughout the dragon skies for defeating everyone without wings, claws, nor fire
They fear her fangs
Her venom
Her warning rattling tail
The eyes she holds are but Misty spheres of blind rage
Her cave is forever engulfed in darkness, and all light that enters is soon consumed by the mist that surrounds the wetted cave
She is the most fearsome of dragons
For she isn't one at all
Wow, beautiful
Listening to this brings up memories I don’t have. Like I’m remembering things that I didn’t do
Maybe in another life....
That’s begging for a monster metal riff over the top!
the band Storm Seeker features a Hurdy Gurdy, their songs are kinda Celtic/rock if you wanna see that, cause I agree a super hard metal riff on this thing would be awesome
Also don't forget to check out Eliveitie, especially their first album Helvetios
fifth*
As much as I like i do believe that this song shouldn't have any metal riffs over it. There is a certain magic which is lost when introducing modern instruments.
Not everything needs that and you know that
Makes me think of The Empire from Warhammer, or even Von Carstien's Blight marshes or the gothic like architectures from the old world
Midget Dwarf Sounds like the world of the Witcher too
Alfredmr the Nordic feels
In dnd I had a gnomish bard that played one of these. It is perfect.

You sir, create amazing music!
The elegant young wind spirit swiftly graced her way across endless dark sky. Adrenaline burning through her slivermist veins. Dancing purely for her beloved star from dusk to dawn, but now he is no longer in sight.
"Where has he gone?" She cries out until her throat catches fire, her tears fill the sea. "Could his glorious light be shining for another wind? For a different soul?"
Wind calls to mother cloud, to deny such a fright.
Mother whispers heavily with grief. "My darling one, he grew tired of the distance, he craved to feel your soft touch. So he is now amongst the falling"
Wind stopped to catch her breathe, then flew faster then ever before "If he is falling to be with me, then I will catch him."

It totally would because that's just a good piece of music and the instrument played is similar to this one.
