Albeniz: "Leyenda"
Celedonio Romero: "Fantasia"
It's the volume control and the muting that most impresses me. The man is a genious!!
Love this guy's posture, crouched over so close to his instrument. Awesomeness.
He owns it.
It's like Andres Segovia once said....
"Lean your body forward slightly to support the guitar against your chest, for the poetry of the music should resound in your heart."
that is the old school pose, made popular by Sabicas
I have been one of dedicated followers of this master and always admired his concepts of the musics he chooses to play. A real master irreplaceable.
Cyrus - for me, he seemed to always have a clarity in his playing, a singleness and elegant simplicity which i really enjoy. I am not a musician...not sure how to speak music. ha!
He's not bad..has a talent for sure!..a bit slow..not flowing that easily.. it's a very hard piece..
IMHO he's the best classical guitarist alive.
@@Janhalb IMHO John Williams is #1. Angel Romero is no second rate player either
Pepe is a true master and he plays his fathers composition truly incredible. ❤
Few realize the hours of training and devotion necessary to grow to this level of musical proficiency. Thank you for this, sir.
Yes ! A life well lived . Bravo Maestro . Pepe Romero
I’m a 9 year guitarist and I still can’t play like that….most likely cause I don’t wanna devote 5 hours everyday on just guitar for 2 years straight
Yeah I realize the technical proficiency and devotion, but it is boring and soulless just a twangy thing that takes a lifetime to learn.
My guitar teacher used to play this piece... I fell in love with this... almost 35 years have passed and i still love this. Pepe is awesome!
For me the best guitar player. Awesome.
Aand don"t forget Paco de Lucía. ..
@trihardous maximus when I was taking classical guitar lessons, I had this very serious teacher, very thorough, very strict but not a technocrat at all. He just loved playing guitar and also loved precise, hard work.I got my diploma in just four years, taking lessons from him. When we first met he gave a Pepe Romero's collection album. Listened to it so much, the CD got worn out. He said to me that day, listen to Pepe as deep as you can, even if you never reach that level it will make you a thousand times better than you'd ever be. I still practice to this day, and play as much as I can though I never became a professional musician much to everyone's surprise. Life had other plans, having to make ends meet and going through a rough decade.. But still working on it. As my teacher once said to me, whatever happens no one can take music from you. Just make sure you'll always keep your guitar close, and everything's gonna work out..
But man, what a wonderful, balanced and unique musician Pepe Romero is. A guitar player's guitar player.
Que yo hago guitarra. Es hermoso el tema Y???
I got to study with the Romeros for six years! It was a truly amazing experience. ❤️🎶
I really like the Romero family. Superb guitar players. Pepe is amazing. Great musician. What a fantastic family to grow up in, huh?
The man is a MONSTER!!!! Have mercy on my feeble existence Pepe and smite me not. Or, to put it another way....wow.
+John Paglia nearly quit guitar right then and there. He is the master of classical.
He's a bit slow..too heavy handed..bit choppy..not bad..but not the best
Leyenda, a legendary piece by a legendary composer played in legendary fashion by a legend. It’s that “simple”.
best performance of all time also in his discography
Bravo!!!
i cant wait till im this old, when ive played the song a thousand times, when ive expereinced what this song means, the love.. the loss, when i spend summer days with my young love, riding on our bikes past golden feilds, when i run home in the rain when she tells me she cant be straight anymore and she has to be true to who she is, when i spend days in a dark quiet corner of the gloom monochrome bookshelves library in silence learning the rules of how to express your soul and when i take the stage i let the freinds ive lost sound in the roar of my rasguedo, and then one day suddenly my rasguedo will lose its power.. because i forget it all, i forget how to speak, until one teaches me how to open my soul again, she'll believe in its shout and it will become a bellow, they will understand through my alegrias, and the trample of the strings under my fingers that i am worthy of love, and company, but one day my spirit will grow weak, she will have taken to the bed, and never to come back out, and once again i will be lost, and there will be no more, no more hope, only the guitar, and i will take the stage one more time and do the thing i was born to do, play guitar and all of it will be there, the cresendos will come climax, and the decresendos will bring suspense, the accent will make them jump and the slurs will give them content, its the song played one thousand times, and even so you can still hear her voice in every note, and her smile. in short i cant wait to live and then i cant wait to share it with you all, as this man has shared so much with me.
I was in a trance for the past 12 minutes, helplessly captive to a most charming master. Thank you. I have never heard cleaner or clearer Rascuerdos and harmonic trills.
My guitar teacher graduated from the Conservatory in Madrid Spain..he brought back an autograph from Maestro Pepe Romero! Awesome!
While I was living in the small south Texas town of New Braunfels a few years ago wife and I had the good fortune to sit in the third row of the Brauntex movie theater where he performed. Another time he, his brother and their sons performed at the university in nearby Seguin. At intermission they were available in the lobby to shake hands and give autographs. I have a CD with all their signatures. So talented and so nice.
Wow ... what tone and technique .... can the guitar ever be played better than this ?
I am stunned ......
+Em Jay Yes, I prefer John Williams' version. More fire, I personally think this one is too soft. However it is still almost flawless guitar. I can only dream of being able to play like this :)
+Em Jay Yashimoto blows Williams and Romero away......
+Em Jay I agree with you, the touch of Romero is unique.
+Em Jay Try Ocean by John Butler ;)
+Em Jay
Robert Johnson: Walking Blues...
It's just a matter of perspective I think.
I feel so lucky that I got to see Pepe play Rodrigo's Concerto live with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra! and got to meet and speak with the Maestro after the concert!! A night I will never forget to be sure.
thank you, pepe ! i hear the romero brothers since 50 years
Multiple tsunami waves of goosebumps . Magic !
Beautiful account on the body's experience... Live this descriptive mind&feelings!
Pepe is my favorite Romero.
Most of us are unfortunate enough to not have been born on the same planet as Señor Romero.
Thanks, brings back my Spanish, Galician family tree / Galicia, Habana, New York. Still feel my Español y Gallego en mi ! aunque quiero mucho a mi nuevo pais desde el 1962 USA.
Ole', he is the master, he does not squeeze with the left hand, in this peace of music, unbeleaveble
Grande Pepe Romero, saúdo-te desde o Brasil.
I just learned about this great guitarist Pepe Romero. I'm in love for now and always with him and his incredible style of music.
I've always believed Pepe Romero to be the greatest guitarist. His tone, technique, precision, and emotion are unmatched.
Hiya Shiftless, listen to Ana Vidonavic. Man, talk about nuance, light and shade, phrasing and timing. I think she's worthy of consideration among the World's Contemporary Artiste's. Just saying...!
I can see from where came the inspiration for Spanish Caravan by The Doors. Beautiful.
classical guitarists always blow my mind the way they play so many strings at once. It'd take me 2 guitars to play this.
The same thing backwards happens to classical guitarists when they try to play using a pick.
How the hell, electric guitar players play so many things with just one "finger"
@@gregorp8406 But they don't play many things, it's usually just one voice at a time, perfectly doable with one pick. I've never met a classical guitarist surprised over that.
@@vainbow4632 at first glimpse anyone would agree but then you get on to the hybrid picking stuff and it feels very weird if you're like me for example, I've learned playing guitar on a classical guitar, studied many years before I got into electric guitar..
Finger picking no problem, having studied classical for about 15 years but when I got into picking and finding the way I could be as efficient as I could.. Well that took a lot of work.
I think that after a point the only common thing between the two is that they're both called guitars but they're totally different animals.
Especially if you try to have an articulate sound while playing very loud or using distortion. That, at least for me, was a challenge..
And though I've been playing for almost thirty years now, I still feel that the classical guitar feels more like home for me.
@@gregorp8406 i agree man, i play with my finger, barely ever touched a plectrum but some dad are absolutely crazy with that thing. They do stuff i can't even think of
@@KP-by4eu Please listen to Mauro Giuliani's Guitar Concerto Number One Op. 30. You can play multiple voices at a time together with the bass.
There are also other classical classical works where you play more than one voice at a time. It's vast.
MAGISTRAL. La ama, la acaricia, la domina... Le hace cantar! Bravo!
Wonderful. I am a big fan of Pepe Romero.
fantastic! what an acomplished musician! True artist! THE BEST!
Awesome! What a magnificent guitarist & masterpiece. Brilliant.
Tons Silverberrry, I have listened to many versions of this piece including Segovia, this is beyond compare!!!
Frik'n genius. OMG what a master !!!
What a lucky man - to play such lovely music and so well
So blessed 👍
I guess in put in the hours in the practice room to get perfect hands and musical brain, definitely a fine musician! We're blessed that we can watch this video !
Pepe Romero and Goran Krivokapic, so uitstanding. So utterly beautiful. The guitar sings under their fingers
Maestro sublime !!! and such a good modest simple person makes him huge...
Gratamente sorprendido!! Gracias.
wow, that was outstanding! bravo!
I would give anything to learn from this man
BEAUTIFUL
The best guitarist of our time, Virtuoso Pepe Romero. Imagine how fun it would be to play at that level. My favorite piece he plays is the same piece his father loved, La Paloma. A simple song but to make it sound great takes a lot of skill regardless of simplicity.
Ana Vidovic is my favourite. Her version of every piece he played sounds way better for me.
Excellence ^n and whatta great guy !!! a true jewel.
Thanks for sharing; it's great to watch (and hear) how a master performs this piece. Fantastic!
Absolutely beautiful. This dude is a champion.
Divino !!!!!!!
TIMELESS
this is a LEGEND called ASTURIAS
"Asturias" was the name give by the editor, to harmonize with the other names of the Spanish Suite, but obviously this piece has nothing of Asturias or norther of Spain music. It has though a huge taste of Andalusian music. And by the way "Legend" was the name given by Albeniz to this piece.
Fantastico, soprattutto l'energia e l'espressività.
Saludos.
Most inspiring and motivating musician ever
Thank you
This is beyond words.
The best interpreter of classical guitar.
Joaquin Turina , Narcicso yepes , Jaquin Rodrigo.yy el gran ANDRES SEGOVIA
Fantasticccccc
Simply brilliant!
A very refined performance.
Excellent.
Outstanding!
What a lovely tone the guitar has. Playing's pretty good too.......
Beyond good. You know it in the first few notes. Best wishes, Maestro.
Wow, the best thrill I've had in a lone time. Bravo Pepe, you're the best.
In particular I love that second piece, 'Fantasia'. As I understand, composed by Pepe's father who taught him guitar. He plays it with so much passion and finesse. A joy to watch and listen to.
That second piece was outstanding. Very enjoyable indeed. Not only rock guitarist can tap.
Just High class..... 👌
maestro molto Bello
Refined playing! Maravilloso!
Precioso! Una maravilla de interpretación
I guess those who gave it a thumbs down were disappointed to find out that it's not originally by The Doors.
Bravo!!!!
Sencillamente magistral ! ❤❤❤
Incredible! Thank you sir.
FOR EVER PEPE!!!!THANKS MAESTRO!!!!!!!!!
Espectacular el maestro Romero... Que perfección!!

Winter and Arizona put in the same sentence.... brilliant.
Headbanging.
Тhank you maestro❤🎸🧚♀️
no words for it :)
Super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just incredible...
How can anyone give this thumbs down?!?
SenninhaPSX1 I suspect they have some form of brain damage
Its the title.
The (selfish) stupidity of many always is greater than their ability to appreciate the (beautiful) things around them.
They're probably insecure...
At seventy, things don't sound like they used to twenty or thirty years ago. This is a good time for teaching and raising new generations of performers.
Surely the finest guitarist around today
My favourite guitarist
The best ever .. ♡
Beautiful thank you :)
Such WONDERFUL performances.... he'd be great fun to have around for dinner.... :o)
Wonderful, what a great artist.
I can't like this hard enough
See you in Long Beach...YOUR GUITAR PLAYS HEAVENLY
Gawd. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
He makes it flow
