  • Epoch film about the Durutti Column, the most famous column of anarchist fighters formed during the Spanish War. Led by Buenaventura Durruti from mid-1936 until his death on 20 November of the same year, this column plays a crucial role in maintaining the Republic in Madrid in the face of the rise of fascism.
    Durruti: "It would hardly be worthwhile to dress up as a soldier if we were to be governed again by the pseudo-republicans of 1931; we agree to make great concessions, but let us never forget that we must face war and revolution."
    Voiceover French. Dutch and English subtitles

    This is the war Orwell fought in, and his Homage To Catalonia is a great read.

      Question...
      Orwell fight with communist (not stalinist ofcurse) not with Anarchists (cnt) but he and up regret it.... and in the end saport the Anarchists?? i am correct or not? Probably is more complicated....I have not read the Homage to Catalonia I know only the basics about Orwell...

      @@devifoxe Orwell fought with the POUM, who were a communist party made up of Trotskyites, anarchists and anti-Stalinist socialists. I believe after the war he said if he had his time again he would have joined up with one of the anarchist militias instead.
