We got STRANDED on Ocracoke Island! | Outer Banks trip 2023 | OBX North Carolina

- We decided to take a quick trip down to the Outer Banks over Easter weekend, 2023. We took a ferry trip out to Ocracoke Island and planned on camping one night on the island. The weather turned nasty and the ferry closed down so we got stranded on the island for 4 days! What an amazing memory! All in all, we had a great time together in the Outer Banks.
Ocracoke is the best place to be stranded. It’s my happy place!
my best vacations are the ones that didn't go as planned. None of you will ever forget this trip. example my oldest and i went to the keys. and what he remembers most is the drive there as a tropical storm came through. LOL

We stayed on Ocracoke for a week in July. Very fun to rent a golf cart when your crew is older to explore the island.
We sat in that ferry line over 4 hours one time, trying to get off the island before they shut the ferries down. The Pony Island Inn is our favorite place to stay when we are out there fishing or shooting photos. You can't beat the laid back pace of the island. My son agrees with yours, no trip out is complete without a stop at the Pirates Chest.

Been there, done that. Sucked because not alot of places to stay. Was staying in Manteo and ferried over to Ocracoke when after we got off the ferry was canceled. Lot of people had to sleep in their cars. We got lucky and found the last room in a little Inn. Think, now, they even discontinued the ferry between Hatteras and Ocracoke.
Go to Myrtle Beach or Atlantic City or some other place in California with plenty of Holiday inn's and Walmarts and olive garden, McDonald's, shit like that. Plenty of strip plazas and target stores and idiots on crotch rockets shooting at pedestrians and plenty of fistfights. These areas are deliberately poorly developed landscapes.
Not a bad place to be stranded.
