- The MacMaster is in Birmingham at Asha’s Indian Restaurant in Birmingham UK to review the Curry that Tom Cruise ate. He ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and thought it tasted so good he ordered it twice!
Birmingham is renowned for its curry and it sure made an impression whilst Tom Cruise was in town to film Mission Impossible in the city.

Looking through that menu Lee I kept hearing the Yorkshire battle cry - “How Much!!!!!" 😳
I bet that starter came back out looking exactly like it went in!
Yeh it did resemble a turd
The chicken tikka that you saw at the start on the griddle at the food stall was bought in and had a lot of food colouring. You need to start a mission to find a restaurant that cooks the chicken in a traditional tandoori pot.
The 90's song Brimful of Asha by Cornershop was about the restaurants' owner and singer Asha Bhosle
Wow really? I love that song 😊
Are you sure about that??Always thought it was about hope, not a particular individual……
Isn't ASHA Bhosle a singer it also mentions 45s the vinyl record single play speed 45rpm for people not old enough to remember.
3 condiments necessary with Indian food Lee, Come on Man, Mango chutney Yep, Yoghurt Raita and best of all.......... Lime Pickle
The food hygeine was only a 4 , not a 5 ??
£25 for lunch!? I would at LEAST expect a 5 star hygiene rating!
Keep up the good work,
Love your reviews.
Hi there, another fantastic video like always. I did say I wanted to get to Birmingham Christmas market to see it look good what you walk through and that Indian look really good
The starter did look like a poo on a plate.
just discovered your amazing channel and subscribed. Really looking forward to the videos. I've been to Asha's in the balti triangle as well a few years ago but I don't remember it being that expensive to be honest.
Thank You
love the fact you show the full menu of places you visit.
Looks gorgeous, also I like the music... Top notch video.
Have to say, ANY establishment that works with the preparation of food for public consumption has ZERO excuse to not have rating of 5! Personally, I’d be embarrassed if I got a 4!
and that starter! Is it just me or did that look like someone had you know what onto the plate! That looked rank!
12:12 I didn't know we could order Space Weevil Kryton...
Loved the music while you were eating. Relaxing
Nearly £28 for a prawn biryani, that’s day light robbery. 😮
If you are not a local you are not going to know that you are being ripped off. Brum is heaven for curry houses. Always shop around.
When a restaurant has loads of awards the standards drop off
Great content as usual ! Keep it up
If you would like to do another Weatherspoons, come to Brighouse West Yorkshire. Cleanest tables there.
That looked lovely!
The macmaster in Birmingham!
My home town!!
If you come back Lee, i will come up and have a beer at the pop up bar!!👍
Hiya. Lee. Great video. Always love the film inserts. lol
Have a great evening and weekend
Wow - for those prices I would be expecting alot more.
Brum has the best curries, bar none! Proud of my city
Brick lane,London.
@@russellbates273 Balti Triangle > Brick Lane
Nowt wrong with Brum but not the only place for good curry.
Same here
Was the best tv show also when I was a kid I used to love it haha
Looks well worth a visit starter looked belting
Exquisite starter, and a good spread on the king Prawn with the spine removed.👌
Excellent presentation looked fresh and tasty, definitely want the full range of dippages with my pluppadumms especially the onion and coriander salad, I'll eat the whole tub !
You need to come try 'The Raj' in Kettering,it's won best Indian resteraunt for the East of England 4 years in a row at the Asian Curry Awards. You will be blown away by the overall place, food and the 5 star service.
The list of other restaurants, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar etc at 10:40 made me think of the made up list of places on the side of Del Boy's van in "Only Fools and Horses" 🤣🤣
I don't think it's a made up list. Asha restaurant is named after one of india's most famous playback singers. She is very famous in the middle East as well. She is founder of these restaurants and so it's very likely that there are branches worldwide. At least it's an indian restaurant. Most other restaurants in Birmingham especially ladypool road area etc are not Indian but they are Pakistani.
Love Birmingham down along the canal bars and restaurants ❤️👍
Same thoughts as me on the couples round the corner, reminds me on your take on the Premier Inn 2 hour booking bonanza🙂
Hi mate. Great video as always. I’m Birmingham born and bred and I’ve been to Asha’s once before. To be honest, I find it very expensive for what you actually get. But I’m not into all these so called “upmarket” Indian restaurants that seem to be popping up everywhere these days. Give me a proper Balti house anyday lol.
By the way, me and a few friends went to Shababs in the Balti triangle a couple of weeks ago on your recommendation from a video you put up recently. It was very nice and we all enjoyed so thank you for that👍.
When you’re next down this way I’d love you to visit my local Shabar Indian restaurant. It’s in the Sheldon area of Brum where I’m from and have been going nearly 30 years. It’s just down the road from the NEC and B’ham airport along the Coventry Rd. you won’t be disappointed. I’ve never had a bad meal there in all that time.
As for your meal at Asha’s. There’s definitely much better around these parts. The food did look nice but taking everything into consideration, I’m going to go 7.5/10 on this one. Just very expensive and I also like a nice kick to my curries. I’m really into spice.
Thanks for review mate and keep up the great work👍
Cracking video 👍 cheers Lee 😁
Seems very expensive and I hate it when they put they put food colour in the mint sauce. Starter presentation looked like a dog turd. Obviously I don't know ow the main course tasted but I'm sure it was good. But if you are going to Torquay you should try the Mahabharat Balti House in Torwood Street as its the best in the west. And I've been going there since 2004.
Lovely place Lee. It's very unusual to only get one dip. You definitely need mango chutney. Food looked nice too. 🥰🌞🥰
Never mind where the stars and the celebrities go!.....go try the Coleshill Bar and Grill, next to the railway station......excellent, good value too.
Curry looks amazing and that naan bread wow amazing
That big building behind you at start (The Colmore Building) is where is work🤣. Great vid as always 👍. Bet the parking cost you a bit lol.
Have you ever seen rate my takeaway he's just been to shambles market in york and the food he ate at the Taylor made kitchen looks pretty amazing I think you should check it out
If ever you're in Chesterfield you have to swing by Indian Blues opposite the Pomegranite Theatre, their food is sublime!
Looks a lovely restaurant great review I do love a curry , however there was a 2022 on the door as u went in
Never mind the mango chutney ,where’s the lime pickle 😳£24-95 for 3 courses isn’t bad but the main menu is expensive , just because Tom cruise ate their it doesn’t mean it’s the best , I’d want him to cook it for those prices
If you get near Bournemouth/westbourne go to chez freds its only famous for its fish and chips harry rednapp visited there and he really likes it you can sit in there the cod and chips is amazing i have been
Not from Brum but when I'm down there it's either the no thrill's Vine in West Bromwich B70 for delicious tikka or something a little more upmarket is the Soho Tavern B18 I'd recommend both in the same day 🤪
Hi Lee, have u tried eating rice with fork and spoon? U use the fork to push the rice unto the spoon together with meat/chicken with the gravy. So u get a proper mouthful. As for the mango chutney its better eaten with rice and gravy. Try it.
Great video mate,my next indian will be on the 23rd hopefully in los cristianos in kismat indian restaurant 😀
I reckon I've eaten there. If it's the same place I'm thinking of, it was epic.
Next to lewinsky, mate great food in there,Sonia now runs it for her mum
Lee if your ever in Shrewsbury...I can highly recommend the Avatar Nepalese restaurant the food is absolutely fantastic and reasonably priced 👍👍👌
If the chicken tikka Masala wasn't quite spicy enough for you Lee, you should have ordered the chicken tarka, it's like the tikka only a little otter 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
Looked great not one bit greasy 9.5 out of 10 for me lee 👍🏻 well worth a visit the place looked lovely and welcoming too 🥰
Try Diwans on Moseley Road, cheap, and plenty of it, the food is excelent, used them for over 35 years, although i no longer live in Brum, still go there when ican....
…yep, I love Diwan as well…
yeh diwans is my fave to!! it doesnt get the attention it deserves though!
I have also been going to it for a long time, but living abroad i miss it!!
Yummo the Bavarian bbq looks amazing. Wow .
Or sheik kabab.
Gosh lee you’ve got some appetite ❤
The best Indian restaurant i have ever been to was one in derby but it ended up closing, no idea why as the food was fantastic. My partner is from Heanor and we checked a few restaurant's out in and around derby and none beat the one that closed, shame i cant remember the name of it.
If your ever in Drighlington again you need to try alishans it an Indian place the food is gorgeous
Just like to ask.?what kind of heat/flavour, you were expecting from a tikka massala,?
The girl who was behind in the video is my cousin
It'd been great to see Lee and Tom Cruise in a video together lol
Tom Cruise was filming latest mission impossible film in Derbyshire when he went there. Know because my brother lives in Birmingham and works for national media there. Where was mango chutney and lime pickles.
Wow those prices are too high. I know what people are going to say but, for the amount you got, it's only worth about $10 US. Too over rated!
Looked lovely Lee. Could have done with more sauce in that tikka masala to help the rice and bread go down. Very pricey though...cashing in on the basis a few stars have eaten there?
Not sure which was the greater number...the amount of £'s the meal cost or, the number of 'wows' in the verbal description? Answers down below! ☺
It's a hot knife through butter... not a knife through warm butter...LOL just saying
It looked like a 10 for me. I would love to have king prawn available in Saskatchewan, Canada. Love a spicy dish at times. I wonder if they serve a King Prawn Curry and Chips. Great vlog.
For value for money in Birmingham you could try the Taj Mahal, Norfolk House, Theatre Approach or Barajee in Broad Street. You should come over to my neck of the woods to try one the Desi pubs around West Bromwich - The Vine (Roebuck Lane), Club99 (Oldbury), The Sportsman (High St West Brom) plus several others
Love the Vine I go when I'm down Brum one of my all time favourite Curry houses,I also recommend it to Lee along with the Soho Tavern B18
Nice place - looked some quality grub for a lunch menu and not a bad price. Only thing I would say is far too much rice/nan for the amount of curry and sauce you get - there should always be plenty of sauce to mop up.
nice one lee what was the hygine rating by the way
Something we all knew, Lee tackling anything hotter than a chicken tikka masala is a mission impossible.
Enjoyed it I will definitely go there
Sadly as the Indian and Chinese restaurants always charge per item then it can become pricey. That food for £25 was very good. As an ex military chef im always aware that standards for these places are below what they should. What most dont realise the EHO not only check cleanliness of kitchen but all the records how product is stored when it arrives everything is taken into account.
It’s been a couple of years since I was last there. As a Brummie myself, I used to love this place. As far as the pricier establishments are concerned, My fav though is Pushkar on Broad Street. Nice to see the Mac in Birmingham! Starter looked a little burnt. Main looked like a standard curry. £25? I think not for lunch. £15 sounds more likely to be reasonable.
Wow the food looks fantastic it's a shame Im not able to visit all these wonderful restaurants you dine in Lee 🙂
Lee - it looks like they were marked down lower for ‘Hygienic Food Handling’ which was described as ‘Generally Satisfactory’ rather than ‘Good’.
I guess it adds to the authentic Indian vibe…
Hi, Do you ever take note regarding scores on the doors rating when eating out and is there a score that would put you off eating at an establishment.
Four would put me off, no matter how cheap and cheerful the venue is. All the time I was eating I'd be wondering what happened to the one. Four for a place this pricey is , in my opinion, pretty lousy.
@@jonathanwalker8730 Indeed, even my local roadside kebab van somehow managed a 4 star rating for hygiene. 😅
@@CiderGuy Yes! My local burger van has four stars too! For a trailer in a layby in woodland next to the A38 I wouldn't worry about the one star. Maybe they hadn't mopped the floor that day or the sink needed a wipe. But at least I know it wasn't due to rats or cockroaches or raw meat stored with cooked meat or months-old ingredients or buckets of raw meat left on the floor next to drains or lavatories.
Incidentally, a generously-sized cheeseburger cooked to order is £2.50, a coffee is 80p. You know, prices mortals can afford.
Wow ridiculous price’s & thanks Lee 🥘😋
expensive if you go to kaptin korma in Wolverhampton chicken tikka masala is 9.95
Surprised they haven't put your photo up with your following these days mac ❤️
It is expensive but that's like saying you can get a steak at wetherspoons or you can go somewhere up market and pay 20 quid more... you are paying for probably the best ingredients possible and it has a michellin star so you know it will fantastic... you wouldn't eat here every week but for a special occasion It would amazing!
When you see a naan at £4 and Chuck jalfrezi over £20 bar that is sheer greed. Normally it is the Chinese Restaurants / takeaways that peoples out with their prices but man alive
The vine at West brom takes some beating 😋😋😋👍
I've been going to the Vine for about 20 years and the food is still good. It's getting a bit pricey now though. And to be avoided when the Baggies are at home!
Very nice restaurant with an out of this world surrounding, beautiful food - this is 1 restaurant I could see myself enjoying myself in- Give this restaurant a very very 9.5/10- a very solid mark!! Cheers for now, back to more dining Lee! 😎👍🇨🇦
OMG I feel really hungry now watching that.
Forget Top Gun that looked Top Grub!!
I live just outside Birmingham and have visited that Christmas Market. The prices are crazy ridiculous and New Street itself gets so busy that you can't even get your wallet out of your pocket!!.
The food though and the variety is pretty damn good .
i think 25 quid for lunch top quality food good price still its 50 quid for lunch with the better half🤨 but the main menu.....jesus them prices🤐🙁
The starter looked like a jobby
a big tolly
10, hope you didn't have too much wind after lol.. did u have a mango lassie after lol
Should try the German market sausages , they aren’t the wurst around .
Been here a few times and it is really good . Had a refurb now , so hygiene rating revised to 5 now.
Nice place food looks good 👍
Even Spoons in Eccles, has a 5 star Hygiene rating!
Must get you over here in 2023. Tenners on 16th December for 13 nights. 😎
When I saw the menu and the "show me the money" clip I just had to hit the like button lol 👍
Starter..That thing in the middle reminded me of something different than food I have to say and funnily enough I had a delicious Tikka Masala for last lights tea but mine was from Sainburys lol...£4.95
Dog poo. 😂
@@TheMacMaster 🤣
Those prices look high. Typical price for a CTM is £10 in Newbury.
Based on the a la carte prices on the menu, that £24.95 Executive Lunch Special is good value.
Mate good video have you been to soho Traven in Birmingham it's very good place foods good and they do chilli battered chips
Chilli battered chips 🍟 😋 I need to get involved
I need them in my life. 😜
I’d give that a 7.5/10 Surprised to see they on score 4/5 on the scores on the doors though.
i trust a 4 ranking rather than a 5. its like when you see google reviews all great but none bad
Never be put off by council scores on doors as most of the time you lose points on paperwork, food could be the best in the world but when you miss a temp check and lose a mark for it it's a load of bollocks
Theres about 25 Indian restaurants within about a 5 mile radius in Solihull that would be equally good if not better than Ashas at half the cost !
Another great review mate, £25 seems a bit steep to me, that starter did look fantastic though.
