- The latest Lauri Markkanen and Golden State Warriors news today is that in the trade talks with the Utah Jazz, the Warriors have a specific player they don't want to trade to the Jazz. This matches up with the other trade rumors we've seen recently and makes sense with who the Warriors would like to pair up with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. The most important thing is to do what Steph Curry wants and if the Warriors get pressure from him, they may do it!

No. Pods to Utah or no deal. If the Warriors are serious about giving Curry one more championship opportunity, they meet Ainge's price. Pods is good and compensates the well for trading away a high level player in Lauri.

Podz is staying with GSW. The team does not want the Santa Clara native to bite the team in the ass because he is traded to Utah or any other team.

Get over it Warriors, you have a couple years with Steff, if you do NOT get a major player to go with Steff this year, your only choice is to tear it all down and tank for the next several years. Age affects all of us. If Lauri is your shot at one more championship, then you do everything in your power to get him, if not tear it all down next summer. You will not get anything for Green and next summer maybe 1 late first for Steff. Lauri is your only chance for one more championship before you blow it up. The Jazz have been in existance for 50 years and never won a championship, you have won 7 in the last 77 years. Championships are almost impossible to win, if you have a shot, then best to take that shot. Because you will be rebuilding in the next few years anyway.

Lauri Markkanen is not the only choice: GSW can trade for local Brook Lopez, a Stanford alumnus🌲 , Wendell Carter Jr. or another tall 🦒 center.
Starting to think we shouldn’t take jazz trade rumors too seriously, kind of been a constant since ainge took over, ainge always looking to fleece, you gotta pay more than he’s worth or he stays here.
If Lauri can improve his passing, he could have top 5 player potential. His passing is the only weak spot I can see in his game.

GSW will not trade Podz, TJD or many draft picks to get Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler or any other player. Owner Joe Lacob does not want to get had on wasted trades. He said so in an interview this week.
What part of podz taking shots, running around for defense, contesting shots and the most charges in the team do they not understand! It’s better for the Warriors and the Jazz to trade Podz. Warriors have an excess of guards and PG’s such as Curry, Reese Beekman, and Gary Payton II. It makes sense for the Jazz because if they get Cooper Flagg he and Kuminga play the same position so it doesn’t make sense to pay both big $

Why do you want to extend Markannen? He’s good and you’re trying to tank for players like Cooper Flagg. It doesn’t make sense to keep him
Lauri only has one year left on his contract. If you don’t make him happy and don’t end up trading him he could walk next summer in free agency. The Jazz either trade him now before extending him in August or extend him and trade him in February on the trade deadline. Or trade him next summer. I agree though this season should be all about Flagg.
I agree, But believe it or not, Lauri will be easier to trade after the Jazz re-sign him. Why? Because teams will know he is "locked into" a contract for several years. And that's going to open up the "Lauri Markkanen Sweepstakes" league wide - creating a lot more competition for his services. As is, the Warriors are taking a HUGE risk that Markkanen might decide not to re-sign with them next summer. Before any trade happens, they'll want assurances from LM's agent, that he will re-sign next summer. That said, Golden State needs to pull the trigger on the deal now before they suddenly find themselves facing a lot more competition at the February trade deadline.
By the way, if the Jazz re-sign Lauri on the 6th of August, they can't trade him until February 6, 2025 and only on that day because that date is the NBA's trading deadline. After that, he's locked into the Jazz for the rest of the 2024-2025 season. It's the quirkiness of his contract that have made for a strange trading situation.

The NBA changes quickly and it's still not established whether Lauri is good enough and durable enough to be a number 2 on a contender. They don't want to overpay then it turns out other teams think he's a number 3.

If it’s going to be GSW Utah should trade Lauri for all their picks and podz and moody and add clarkson and/or sexton if that gets kuminga in the deal Jazz can take Wiggins and try to flip him and/or kuminga to San Antonio for another pick. Remember how we just had a 6 team trade..
Yeah the Warriors aren't interested in being fleeced of all their young talent. They offered Jazz what they're willing to give, Jazz came back with a ludicrous demand instead of maybe asking for 1 more piece. Time for both parties to move on.

Lauri has never been center. And he wouldn't be good at that. He is mostly 4. His best usage seems to be 3 in offence and 4 on defense.

I don't see the trade happening. Joe Lacob just came out and said Warriors aren't mortgaging their future for potential success now, something even Curry has acknowledged isn't worth it. That sounds like a no to Podz & Kuminga. I think Warriors were hoping to trade Wiggins for more picks and offer all picks and maybe Moody and salary filler. If Jazz don't want this, I think Warriors move on and trade some wing depth for some size. Personally I'm glad, I'd rather keep all our young talent as I think Lauri is being a bit overvalued.
