      Silver is the best conductor of electricity, better than copper and gold. 5G, Solar Panels, Electric Vehicle, all need SILVER! Silver price should be $150/oz or 1/10 gold price. KEEP STACKING BEFORE IT FORBIDDEN!!

    It’s all about money for some people. I remember when Integrity and Helping People meant something and those are two values I was raised on, among others. Some dealers are out for the money and some take their time to educate and won’t rip off people. I prefer to deal with honest dealers and it’s sad but there are times where I too have been ripped off. Great Video Daniel and I wish I lived closer to your shop. You would definitely be my first and only Shop to go to.

    That really applies to anything and everything you're selling.. I gave my sister a vintage Flying V Gibson guitar years ago that was worth around $700 or more used because she was struggling to pay rent.. She called me the next day saying that guitar was only worth $100 and he gave her $60 for it... What? No way... Yep!! Go up there the next day and they had it for sale for $900.. Crazy Mess for sure... All because she said that she didn't know how to play guitar and she didn't know anything about it... What a complete ass to do someone like that.. and the dude wouldn't even give her a little more money.. Lol He said because a deal is a deal and once the contract is written up he can't go in and change that.. I play in a band and I would buy what I needed from that guitar shop and I've never been back since.. I will drive way out of my way just to avoid him and his shop..

  • @NumisTube
    @NumisTube Před 4 lety +5

    If you're selling coins to the dealer, keep in mind that he/she is not a charity and it is not here to resolve your financial issues. Don't be offended with the fact that dealer has to make a profit on the coins he buys from you. He also assumes financial risk of non-selling of the coins he purchased from you in some reasonable time. You get less money than average market price of your collection, but you get it - now! Dealer has to work, spend time and money in order to make a profit on your coins. If the coin can be sold tomorrow, profit is small... if the coin will be in shop, waiting for a customer for a long time, well, in that case, profit has to be large. Everything is math, like in any other business.

    I agree with you. When my dad passed he had some silver coins and my sister offered to find someone to buy them. My sister has had a hard life and looks like she needs the $$. When she told me how little she got, I figured this establishment saw her as a someone who needed money and low balled her and she sold. When i suggested she was taken advantage of of she was hurt .

    You know, I've never said thanks for making these videos. I was a very avid coin collector in the 70s (yes, I'm that old) when I was a kid. My dad had a red book, and a blue book with words like "proof, fine, etc. and I had to match everything up with my grandmothers 2'x2' box-O-pennies she had been hoarding since, the 1930s? I still have it actually collecting dust. I haven't really bought anything other than silver last year about $20oz. and gave most of that to my nephew and son. Anyway, thanks for getting me interested in coins again and more importantly telling me what and what not to do. You never walk into a dark alley with pocket fulls of dollars, I certainly won't be walking into coin shops ignorant of even etiquette. So again, thanks.

    In my small town there is one coin shop...the guy has counterfeit coins in his display case, and asks NGC prices for junk silver. No way I would waste my time attempting to sell anything there, much less buy. I've sold at bigger shops out of town before, but seem to have MUCH better luck selling on eBay.

    • @Skulllywag
      @Skulllywag Před 4 lety +3

      @God sees all!!! Fees ARE ridiculous, but if you base your "buy it now" or "starting bid" to reflect those fees....you can still make quite a bit more than selling for spot at a coin shop. Even better is Craigs list, or Facebook market place. TONS of people scan Craigs list for silver.

    • @williamstokes2312
      @williamstokes2312 Před 3 lety

      Counterintuitively, this may be the place where you would get a decent price for selling. A dealer with fake coins in the case may be just naive enough to give you good prices so that he can run your genuine coins up for his "premiums." I think some numasticists just want to be out of the house.

    • @jeffw1267
      @jeffw1267 Před 3 lety

      If he's really selling counterfeit coins as genuine then you should contact the Secret Service so they can confiscate his coins. If he's selling counterfeit as counterfeit, you can still contact the Secret Service because counterfeit coins are illegal to own. They'll ask him a lot of questions and then take his stock.

    I once had someone bring me a collection for an appraisal. Turned out to be about $60 face in silver, all commons, with the exception of one 1938-D Walking Liberty in Fine condition. I gave them a spot price, and told them the value of the half. They thanked me for the appraisal, and offered me my choice of coins for the effort. I explained there was only one I'd be interested in, and she said "the half dollar? Take it.". I double checked to make sure she was sure and she handed it to me. Crazy what some people will do.

  • @ericrollings
    @ericrollings Před rokem +1

    I sold Morgan’s to a dealer in Wilmington, NC. I knew very little and asked them to help pull the “commons”. I wanted to sell commons. On several I accepted 20-30% less than I should’ve. I won’t go back.
    BUT, it was my responsibility to educate myself prior to selling. So I will except the lesson because I was not prepared. But it bugs me that people that may need the money a lot worse than I do, get ripped off by dealers like this.

He said his secret weapon is being totally honest...to the point if he can direct a client to someone who can do the job for less money, he directs that client there. This has resulted in a lot of clients wanting him to do the work instead b/c his honesty makes for a trust they know will be sure. Its obvious you understand this same concept - it will carry you far. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

      You know, Conrad Hilton used to do that. He's the guy who started the Hilton Hotel chain. If a customer showed up and there were no rooms available, the clerk would call other competing hotels and find a room for the customer. This promoted goodwill with the other owners and they would reciprocate for no charge. I guess the point is, not everything you do has to make a profit right this instant. Unfortunately few owners see it that way.

    That's true. It's in the best interest of dealers to foster greater interest and trust in collecting. If the process of selling becomes too stressful, then the number of market participants would decrease significantly. Let's never forget that the real enemy is fiat currency, not each other!

    True, I never sell a coin... I dont know if will take me years, but its so interesting hobby. I have universal history clases every week since more than 10 years, and when you match this both, its just amazing!!! Just think my history character have this coin I own now in their own hands at their time !! Would be amazing sell one sometime, but that would not happen until I feel I know what I am doing! Thanks Daniel!!!

    I'm very fortunate, I live in a city with a lot of coin shops. I can shop around, and I do! Unfortunately, I talk to people all over the country who don't have any coin shops anywhere around them. The people around Portland are very lucky.

      Everybody has plenty of coin dealers to work with if you count the Internet. I buy all my coins that way and I work with dealers in red states (I live in a blue state so I don't go to the LCSs here).

    You are absolutely right I live here in Panama City and I went to Corning boy is Larry Leone's it the guy that sold that very expensive vehicle with his worker in there told me that my Kennedy half dollar that is a 1964 Accent Hair in perfect condition was worth face value and nickel I mean silver price I did it for a test just to see if they were honest and I ended up walking out of there a little upset with him because they probably robbed a lot of people

    I've never tried to sell anything too substantial, just some random bullion but I got a bit more than I expected. I think this goes to your other recent video. If you spend time at an LCS and get a feel for the owners and staff, you're likely going to be treated better than going into a place cold.

    I don’t know if your still on CZcams. Love your honesty and sober approach to helping folks learn. I’ve just started hunting coins. I have a question of who to go to with a big find. I inherited a few coins. Long story short. I found a 1967 Kennedy half dollar that should weigh 11.5 g like all the others but it weighs 12.5. What’s next for me to do. Appreciate any advice.

      Beth Coddington Me too. But since I don’t live near him I feel pretty close being a subscriber and that new collector who might have otherwise walked in to see a coin dealer an did what he just warned not to do.
