If you want to hear some of my original music you can go here. I need to get back to recording. I did this in my bedroom, all instrument and vocal i did myself in one or two takes. It's really just sketches of song. Todd

That live album is far superior than the studio version.

I wouldn't agree to that. They are different, but both are equally good. The live versions have more energy to them, but the studio versions are much more layered and lend themselves more to sitting back and listening into the recording more if that makes sense. Two completely different moods. That being said, having seen them live that's a whole different experience again to both recordings. Will take every chance I get to seem them live again, it was by far the best live music experience I have ever had and it's not even close.

@@trulsdirio Agree! I am also a studio album enjoyer. Of course I saw Lifa first and it is powerful live, but the studio albums are cleaner (no yelling, perfect vocals etc), the layers are masterfully done by Christopher, like in Traust you can hear Kai barely sing beneath Maria's vocals, and vice versa in In Maidjan you can hear Maria's vocals just layered beneath Kai's chant. Alfadhirhaiti is very different live but I've come to prefer the studio version too strangely because the harmonics in the layered vocals at the beginning is so much better.

    [hangatýr hamingja]
    sôse benrenkî, sôse bluotrenkî, sôse lidirenkî;
ben zi bena, bluot zi bluoda,
lid zi gelidin, sôse gelîmida sîn
    Gelidin
    [Alu Is Urki]
[God of hanged men - Guardian spirits of good luck]
    Like bone-sprain, so blood-sprain, so joint-sprain:
Bone to bone, blood to blood,
joints to joints, so may they be mended.
    Joints
    [Protection against the wrong-doer]
Lines in [square brackets] are only a suggestion. Since there is no official text of this song. They might be incorrect.
    First line is in Icelandic.
The next three lines are in Old High German.
Last line is in Old Norse.
In Norse mythology, Hangatýr was one of many names for Odin, translated as the "Hanged God", a reference to his ordeal upon the World Tree, and also translated as the "God of Hanged men".
The Hamingja was a kind of female guardian angel in Norse mythology. It was believed that she accompanied a person and decided their luck and happiness. Consequently, the name was also used to indicate happiness, and that is what it means in modern Icelandic. When a person died, the hamingja passed to a beloved family member and thus accompanied a family for several generations, continuing to influence their fortunes.
I would recommend that the next video be Alfadhirhaiti. In it you will see the Heilung warriors in action.
    A hug.

Great reaction video, I enjoyed it! Heilung is Germanic for healing. The language is old Norse with the Runic alphabet as well. The entire Lifa show is fascinating and fun to watch. Some of the members, Maria Franz and Christopher Juul are also in the Danish rock band Euzen. Heilung is considered folk metal and amplified history. I featured Heilung in a video titled "Nordic Folklore" on my channel.

Name of the band Heilung is german means healing. Lifa (nordic) = LIfe (maybe here in the meaning of live concert). Members are from Germany, Denmark and Norway.

Nice, but not the one I'd have picked up for a 1st reaction to Heilung :) ... Maybe try In Maidjan or Alfadhirhaiti from the same concert (which, btw, was their first live performance, if I'm not mistaken), both more interesting imho :)

Probably my least favorite Heilung performance. You don't get a chance to see what an amazing vocalist Maria Franz (lady with fringe over her eyes) is. Hands down for me is, " In Maidjan", Maria's solo vocalizing at the end sends shivers down my spine . czcams.com/video/kmWTZ3KfnXE/video.html

@Ronald McRae Well it's kind of the point of the band that it's not about individual achievement. It's about the full package, the full experience. The musical complexity primarily lies in the interweaving of harmonies. The individual craftmanship that allows them to reach that is indeed stellar.

I personally recommend krigsgaldr from the same concert as a first listen because it’s the only one with English lyrics that really taps into the meaning of whole album.
    czcams.com/video/QRg_8NNPTD8/video.html
(Pro tip- The English part is the three guys talking to their enemy, not conversing with each other.)

  • @peo4989

These guys actually lived like this in a spirital way. I remember 15 years ago about people having a online group were they invited people to live like old school to nature on a large farm range in Scandinavia living in primitive ways several seasons. Im guessing these people are like that somehow from what ive heard. And Personally ive always been more drawn to pagan ways ever since i was 10 years old....Hearing Heilung has been like an eyeopener. How is it possible that music like this can make you reawaken thoughts and feelings from long ago. it must be inbedded in our routs. Most of their songs are afterall interpreted from runes and cavewalls. This however aint the their best song but it has meanings for me as a Swede norse fanatic. Maybe you should try either "Norupo" next or "Alfadhiraitiahti" with heilung both much better
