I just had a load of used wine bottles given to me. I purchased a large plastic outside refuse bin with a lid, 2/3 filled it with soapy cold water and submerged the bottles in there and left them outside to soak for 3 days. When I came back 2 1/2 days later the labels came off with ease. I filled it with bottles again using the same water and repeated the process. Done about 60 bottles easily. No drama, no cost (except for the bin but now I have it I will only use it for that purpose) and no sweat! Will use it to sanitize my demijohns (carboys) by submerging them in water and sanitizer and same with my bottles as I bottle my wine. 😎🇬🇧
I soak my bottles in my leftover Star San solution. One more use before pouring it down the drain. Great video. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing. I myself try to get Star Sans to last forever. But at some point it has to go down the drain. This idea just gives one last use out of the stuff.
@@DIYFermentation It makes them easy to remove in about 15 minutes or so. I did this with some Grotsch bottles and it worked like a charm. I enjoy your videos. I think some of the other channels lose sight that we all don't have unlimited budgets
I use leftover Star San. Labels come off really easy.
Thank you for sharing.
Great vid.. brotha... 🤜🏾🤛🏾
Appreciate it
Awesome agin thank you !
You bet!
Good label remover DollarTree razor window paint remover. Come 4 to a pack. I find it easier to remove the label dry. Also, some say bake in the oven at 200 degrees. I think 20 to 30 minutes. You can load a lot of bottles in an oven.
Thanks for the info!
Pour very hot almost boiling water into bottles wait about 2 minutes, lift a corner off with a razor blade or knife and slowly peel them right off. Pour out of that bottle into the next The glue residue can be removed with Pam, or any spray can cooking oil, and wipe it off. Bottles will be hot, so use a hand towel or oven mitt.
Cooking spray, now that's interesting!
@@DIYFermentation It's the fastest and most effective method I've found so far. As soon as my Star san arrives, I give that a try.
Hey, wanna say that your videos are great, though... Have you ever thought of making dragon fruit into wine? I wonder how it would taste. Or how about soursop?
Sorry, I haven't tasted either of those two things yet. Perhaps later down the road.
Wet with petrol and it peels like ordinary paper
try throwing them in a 350 oven for 10-15 min. Most labels peel right off. If you got 5+ gallons of wine to bottle it can make life a little easier.
Another good idea.
Spray the label with alcohol sanitizer leave it 4-5 mint and remove the label gently that’s it try it
It's worth a try.
I always use a good ole razor blade.
To avoid any potential liability issues. I think that I should have used a butter knife.
@@DIYFermentation A butter knife totally does the job. If not, you'd need something like Goof Off or Goo Gone because that is some sticky sticky glue.
I fill with boiling water , heats the glue . .....then , you know
Much easier way...StarSan soak. :)
I'm liking the responses that i'm getting, keep them up.
Nail polish removal or rubbing alcohol
So much less work
Another good idea.
What a mess
