You 100% should read Inkheart! First off that's a stunning edition that you have, second it's just one of my favorite books ever. I love all of Cornelia Funke's books, but Inkheart was the first of hers I read and it was amazing and forever has a special place in my heart.

I read it as a early teenager and loved it. I am currently re-reading it as my "long book" in believathon. I am having the BEST time it absolutely stands the test of time for me. It is such a comfort being amongst characters who love books, the writing is beautiful, characters are fully fleshed out, there is intrigue and plot. I hope you enjoy it!

BLACK SUN oh my god I BEG more people need to read it!! The characters, the tension, the religious tension and worldbuilding, everything is so masterful, and the beautiful but not overly flowery writing is just the cherry on top!

Shelf two: The Mercies by Kiran M. Hargreaves
Shelf three: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
Trolley: She who became the sun by Shelley Parker-Chan

Ooo, "Get A Life, Chloe Brown" is SO GOOD. The Brown Sisters Trilogy is just great as a whole.
Also, "Jade War"!! Knocked me flat on my ass. Definitely recommend it.
    I LOVED "The Jasmine Throne".
"Iron Widow"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favorite books, hands down.
But, the two I would probably recommend most for this month would be: "Iron Widow" (when I tell you I FLEW through this...) and "Jade War" (that way you can be prepped for "Jade Legacy"!)

Some that I have read and enjoyed are:

  • @catmoon9936
    @catmoon9936 Před 2 lety +6

Okay, first of all I would recommend Heartstopper Volume 4 for obvious reasons.
Then I think you should try Inkheart. It is an amazing story and I really hope that the translation is as good as the german Original because Cornelia Funke has an incredible way of writing. The story is very unique, especially the "magic" and you have great characters. Lovable ones and good villains.
I also saw Black Prism there and I think you should give it a go. It too has an unique magic system, different to everything I ever read and one of the main characters is highly morally grey xD It was a lot of fun to read!
Also I hope you stay safe and healthy and happy and have a great reading month!
    😊

BLACK SUN!!! It's so good, I read it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. Also, She Who Became the Sun and Iron Widow are both fantastic, and great if you want to read about female characters who know what they want and go and get it, without caring if they are seen as 'nice' or not. Six Crimson Cranes is also great. The Death of Vivek Oji will make you cry, but it is so worth it. When I finished I sobbed for twenty minutes then called a friend and talked her into buying a copy.

    1) Clap When You Land - really recommend the audiobook narrated by the author!
    2) Get a Life, Chloe Brown - This book got me out of a reading slump and I loved the dynamic between the main characters!
    3) Lore - bloody and gory and it took me a few chapters to get into, but afterwards I couldn't put it down!

Ok there's two in there I would LOVE to know your thoughts because I have them too: The Betrayals, and The Beautiful Ones (I've loved all her other books so far so hoping I'd like this one too!)
For recommendations: Anxious People will make you laugh and cry at the same time and wonder why you didn't pick it up earlier, Malibu Rising is great if you want a quick, fun read this month. God of Jade and Shadows is a very Persephone type of story and I ADORED it! Legendborn is long for a YA but it's packed with action and so fun to read, defo recommend it too! And finally The Night Swim is reaaaally good and fast to read and made me want to listen to more true crime podcasts :)

I’m going to highly recommend the Abhorsen series; I truly believe you’ll love the series. It was one of the first epic fantasies I read as a teen that made me loveeee fantasy in general.
The Memory Police has a quiet melancholy feel that may be appropriate for a quiet winter read.
I’m going to “bully” you into not reading 1Q84 because it’s a whole lot of book with not a whole lot of resolution lol. It took me 3-4 months to finish and definitely gave me a huge reading slump.

Wheel of Time- It’s WORTH IT!
The Fires of Vengeance- The best currently being written fantasy series out there!
Daevabad- The Kingdom of Copper is the best middle book I have ever read!!
The Unbroken- I read it months back and haven’t stopped thinking about it!
The Death of Vivek Oji- be warned your heart will never be the same!

So based off of what I’ve read, I recommend The Ex Hex (quick cute read with a second chance romance), The Night Swim (everything about it is great & one of my faves now), Fence (super quick read w/ great characters) and How the King of Elfhame… (if you loved the trilogy and Cardan you’ll love this since you get more of him).
Now based off of the ones that intrigued me the most, I say you read The Memory Police (it sounds like it’ll be a good read), As Good As Dead (loved the first book & heard good things about the third book), and I’ll “bully” you to read The Death of Vivek Oji (I need to read it as well and I feel like I know it’s going to be amazing and heartbreaking).

Definitely carry on with Death Note, it does some quite surprising things but is great fun right to the end. Brilliant story.

Cool idea! I nominate The Kiss of Deception as I loved that series! Also I nominate The Prison Healer, I was surprised by how much I loved the first book as I was not expecting it. Just finished the sequel and thought that was just as good as well!

so many good books on your tbr! project hail mary is one of my favourite books this year and favourite books ever so i def recommend that. master of sorrows is excellent. jade war is amazing and with jade legacy coming out soon it's a must read. you can't go wrong with malice, black sun, or the kingdom of copper. and if you want a quick read (even though it doesn't look it) i highly highly recommend fullmetal alchemist. good luck with your november tbr 😊

I HIGHLY recommend The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Islington. It quickly became my all time favorite series. Dont be intimidated by the size it reads to fast and easy. The author was heavily inspired to start writing from Brandon Sanderson's books and they are AMAZING

I am currently reading Echo 9f things to come. Read Shadow in April and had to re-read Oct as there is so much going on in the plot. Highly anticipating it - only on chapter 4 so far, but my appetite is wetted.

The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker is one of my all time favs!! I adored it so much! The Deep by Rivers Solomon is also so amazing for a shorter novella and so impactful I highly recommend it as well! Malice is SO good too so if you want some more chunky fantasies I’d definitely go for it!

A couple suggestions from your TBR based on the ones you pointed out explicitly in your video!
    - The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa: I recommend this one to all the folks who like weird fiction. It is SO weird and SO good.
    - Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri: Lots of point of views but a slow build story that goes buck wild at the end. Definitely a fun ride.
    - The bone witch by rin chupeco: SUPER slow build but man is the world building absolutely divine in this one.
    - Kingdom of Copper by SA Chakraborty: If you loved City of Brass……… it only gets better from there.

My vote goes to the book of accidents! It’s been sitting on my shelf and I’ve been wanting to read it but I haven’t heard a whole lot about it so I’m excited to see what you think!

Since you already have three big books, read your short books this month! Sayata Murata is weird af, but I like Convenience Store Girl. From what I've heard Backman is always a good idea, and Rivers Solomon is brilliant. And Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a quick read too. Or read all of your Middle Grade books. Inkheart is a great series. In short, keep this month's tbr easy and relaxing, December is coming and that tends to be a stressful month for most people.

Incendiary by Zoraida Cordova was such a surprise to me. I didn't really know what to expect, but it just blew me away. So underrated and needs 100% more hype! :) The Five is also fantastic, and the audiobook was a really good listen too xx
