I had a 1996 srad 750, 2001 600 and now a 2005 gsxr 1000 in 2015 and I love all of the bikes throughout generations. I'm definitely loyal to the brand. All Japanese bikes are built like tanks and have a lot of pride in engineering and reliability. Huge fan of sport bikes, this will always be my first love.
Had a 1990 1100K, a 98 750 SRAD and now have an 06 1000 K6- everyone a great bike, and the K6 is just awesome- so much power but small and light and handles beautifully.
I have owned (and loved), two GS750's, five GS550's.one GSX250 and currently have an 1981 GSX1100ET,1986 GSX1100EFE and a 1989 GSXR1100K. My engineering background is marine (Royal Navy-ships and submarines), where the majority of designs are over engineered (the last thing you want to have happen at sea is loss of power caused by mechanical/electrical failures, especially important onboard submarines.........). What is the connection? Suzuki GS/GSX/GSXR motorcycles are well built, the heart of these iron horses are of course the motors-talk to anyone who regularly ride/rebuild/race these and one will soon realise how good the original design was. If one researches the world of motorcycle drag racing you will see that Suzuki GS derived bikes (along with their excellent competitors, Kawasaki-(notably Z900/Z1000 based) are still "giving it large!" Enough said.
I have a 1985 reg 750G. For me the slabby was & still is the best looking gsxr. The slingshots were nice but the slender tank & sitting 'on' the bike just doesn't do it for me. I love the huge hunch of my slabby tank making me stretch round it as i sit 'in' the bike. I cannot stand what it's morphed into these days.
Never owned and probably will never own a GSXR... but this video shows what GSXR's are all about. not stretched, chromes, spiked up pieces of disappointment.
Suk owner but wasn't the 1984 honda vf100r the first mass produced race replica for the public? yes it was a terrible bike but i do think it was the first one, or maybe i've miss understood the statement made at the beginning of this film?
and what about all the 1100's ??????? unless this was supposed to be the 750's history but it does say clearly GSX-R so the video should contain all models...
Really?? I guess you've never riden a Gamma 500 then, closest you'll ever get to riding a 500GP bike on the road, looks & sounds sexy as fuck. The mid 80's to mid 90's was a great time for sport bikes
oil cooled motors not a new idea used on aircraft engines of ww2 along with ram air ala mustang used ramair for its merlin engine ,funny how in the film they praise up the oil cooled motor then changed to water cooled motors? still i own a gsxr1100wp which was derestricted to full power as here in the uk it came as a puny 125hp and a right game to de-restrict it as it had metal plates in front of the carbs which had cheese like phillips screws holding the manifolds on and my dealer hated doing it a washer in the exhaust system had to be removed as well and a jetting change it transformed the bike and turned it from a 150mph into a 176mph rocket ship i bottled it at that and shut the thing down it was just going into the red when i thought that will do for me i have never repeated that speed again and when you think thats nearly 22 years ago and for a heavy lumbering machine that aint bad still have the old girl which is mint but dam this modern fuel as its blocked up the carbs and they have to come off for cleaning i ought to send the bill to the petrol companies for selling such crap now i run all my bikes on super unleaded which at the moment does not have any ethenol in it
+bongosrest I remember that when the first GSXR was introduced in the press, there was mention that the oil cooling idea did indeed come from aircraft engines. I was a service man./mechanic for a Suzuki/Kawasaki dealer in the '60s and '70s and the Suzies always had the best craftsmanship and quality. I especially liked the GS400 and all the eventual versions it morphed into.
They lied! They said that 2001 gsxr 600 was the first bike for 600cc to have more than 100 hp, first Yamaha r6 from 1999 had over 108 hp and lets be honest Yamaha made the most beautiful bikes and they were always more beautiful than Suzukis. They were the first one who put beautiful analog rev counter and digital speedometer in 1998 R1! Suzuki did that later in 2003-2004!
I like the Yamahas other than the second gear transmission problems..its all over the net..it is what it is. also the older r6 is too small of a bike for me
Jeff McLean i had 2007 R6 and 2006 R1 and i never had any problems with second gear, yes R6 is quite small especialy newer one like mine with that short tail
The Gixxers need more investment as they are back of the pack now. Just look at the BMWrr or HP4 ABS Trak control 196BHP, Duc 1199 Panigal the same. Much much much much better bikes. Is such a shame
They missed out the 600 K6/7 and thats when they added the dampner pluss it was the best looking 600 they have ever made. The new bikes from K8 onwards have lost there GIXXER looks and now look bland and boring. They havent won anything now for years
I love Suzuki and proud to have only bought a gsxr my whole life
I had a 1996 srad 750, 2001 600 and now a 2005 gsxr 1000 in 2015 and I love all of the bikes throughout generations. I'm definitely loyal to the brand. Suzuki actually made the GSXR in 1984. No idea why everyone thinks otherwise. Look up GK71B if you don't believe.
Forgotten about the 1100 ?
the 1100 is the pre hayabusa

its a great bike man,,enjoy
I love the 2007 R6 but I'd take my 2007 gsxr 750 over it anyday. way more torque and plenty fast midrange/up top
RG 500 > GSX-R 750
Hey nice vid man, but the K8 600/750 has "more exciting, emotionally appealing styling"? I think not: my K6 is much better looking! :)
Not a kawasaki. But nonetheless adequate.
The Gixxers need more investment as they are back of the pack now.
Just look at the BMWrr or HP4 ABS Trak control 196BHP, Duc 1199 Panigal the same.
Much much much much better bikes.
Is such a shame
gsxr1300?
+Kahrese Lee Wurde auf einer anderen Plattform und anderen Zielgruppe gefertigt!
Hayabusa
1993 1100 suzuki gsxr Fastest suzuki who was ever produced...Be afraid be very afraid...
When Honda sneezes Suzuki usually catches a cold.
They missed out the 600 K6/7 and thats when they added the dampner pluss it was the best looking 600 they have ever made.
The new bikes from K8 onwards have lost there GIXXER looks and now look bland and boring.
They havent won anything now for years
all i want is a Slabbie
Hayabusa is the best bike suzuki has made. Gsxr1000 is 2nd best
The Ninja ZX series beats this bike. -___-
MotoGP disagrees.
Actually they both suck at MotoGP compared to Honda and Yamaha
Suzuki. Marmite. Say no more...
U guys are crazy pre 2000 sport bikes were ugly!!!! Not to mention handled like shit.
