New 2024 VOLVO FH16 AERO Engine gets 780 Horsepower

- Volvo Trucks is launching an updated engine for its well-known FH16 truck. This new engine, a 17-litre Euro 6, is designed for heavy-duty transport, especially when it involves high-speed journeys with substantial loads. It's available in three versions, offering different power levels: 600 horsepower (hp), 700 hp, and 780 hp. The torque - the engine's twisting force - also varies, with the highest version reaching 3800 Newton-meters (Nm). This increase in power and torque means the engine reacts more quickly, drives better, achieves higher productivity, and uses fuel more efficiently.
The heart of this update is the D17 engine. It includes a single turbocharger, enhancing the engine's reactivity and overall driving feel. The engine also features Volvo's unique wave piston design. This design is key for better combustion and lower emissions. Additionally, the new fuel injection system is optimized for fuel economy, and the increased peak cylinder pressure contributes to the high power output.
Another significant improvement is in the engine brake. It's more powerful across all speed ranges, leading to quicker gear changes and reduced wear on the brakes, saving costs and increasing efficiency, especially when going downhill.
Environmentally, the D17 stands out too. It can run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) in all its power variants. Impressively, the 700hp version is also compatible with 100% biodiesel (B100). The gearbox has been upgraded to accommodate up to 3800 Nm of torque, with enhanced internal efficiency in the 3000 Nm and 3400 Nm models.
The new Volvo FH16 with this engine will hit the market in mid-2024, with production slated to start later that year. The engine is not just an upgrade; it's a significant step forward in trucking efficiency and environmental friendliness. It will be available in both the brand-new Volvo FH16 Aero and the latest Volvo FH16 model.

Alwase the battle between volvo and scania. Scania got 730 volvo came out with 750. Scania got 770 of course volvo will up it by 10
It hasn't volvo measures from the flywheel scania measures from the diff the 770 from the fly is around 850 that's also why the scania puts out more torque, I'm sure they will do the log haul again

I'll take the D17G engine over that boring Scania V8. I've been a bus man/driver all my life, but that Volvo truck is just beautiful. I often regret my career choice.
