even the cheaper variants of the TS100 are great for most use cases and 1/4 of its price, Pinecil, SH72 etc
I´ve done 4 boards with the SH72 now, including soldering usb-c sockets, and it does the job just fine for under 20 bucks
The Pinecil looks awesome! I didn't realize there were similar designs to the TS100, which I guess make sense considering how popular it is.
I own a Pinecil, it is amazing, heats up in under a minuite, uses the same tips, but I think they sell tips cheaper. It is truly GOATED.
Great advice! I think another big thing is to do a lot of research before you buy your first board. There is sooooo much to know and exploring is half of the fun.
underrated channel! keep up the grind, jimmy!
Thank you Jimmy! Great video, as always!!
Very helpful, great content Jimmy! 😁
Good tips. This newbie appreciates it 👍🏻
thank you for these awesome tips! you've nearly touched on everything I've been obsessing about and helped me to calm down with it haha. thanks again!
You're back! Yay!
Hey hey! 😊
A little late, but the one thing that everyone should be prepared for is buyer's remorse. At some point in time, while you're waiting for your GB board to arrive, you'll start thinking to yourself that maybe it wasn't what you *really* wanted. Best advice on purchasing your first board is to go to keyboard meets. That way, you'll have an idea on what you might want to get, instead of going in blind and buying what everyone wants.
Fantastic points!!!
Been interested in building my first keyboard as an upgrade from my Razer Ornata, and the algorithm brought me here -- very helpful tips! Hopefully this comment gets you a little more boost in the algorithm for people like me.
Thanks!
Thanks for the tool tips! I'll keep those in mind when I want to work on a soldering kit.
Another commentor brought to my attention the Penecil soldering iron, which has a very similar design to the TS100. From my quick research, seems like its a great device at a much cheaper price point than the TS100 and should be just fine for keyboard related things
He returns!

i think gmk is still the best abs double shot keycaps, and theyre the only authentic cherry keycaps, but i think that if you arent after those 2 things or the sound profile they provide, there are a lot of other good options now.
Hearing you speak about buying too much too quickly makes me glad I was able to hold myself back from buying other boards while I was waiting for my first keyboard kit. Now I'm really happy with how it came out. I definitely didn't need the boards that have been promoted left and right the past couple of months haha.
What was your first keyboard kit?
@@jimmynguyen973 Ikki68 x dreamscape. Others have said it was too muted with all the silicone dampeners, but it works well for me since I'm living with others and can't have a keyboard that's too loud.
long time no see man!
Hello hello 👋! Slowly making my way back

I hate FOMO. Good thing I miss out on so many of them because a lot of them are not very great according to it's buyers.
Not glad that I passed on the Sat75 R2 tho, still waiting for the R3
Ima mod my wooting 60he later everyone keep doing tofu60 do u have any recommendations for other than the tofu or isi it just the best case option
I'm not familiar with the wooting 60he to say, but the tofu60 is probably a safe bet and you can mod that case even further, also one of the more readily available cases
i get that gmk's overrated, but there's not really a premium abs that has nice vibrant colors in the market rn and gmk sounds is just *french kiss*
You still alive?
1 real tip for Mechanical Keyboard Beginners: dont waste your money. Your obsession is fake. Its not worth it at all.
Awww, someone bought multiple Taobao boards and never got them to sound good and realized they were poor in the process 😢
