Like Jeff Buckley, Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, Kurt Cobain and many others like bands like Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots... Back then music wasn't a formula to get crowds to buy, they had heavy messages in their lyrics... Like Pearljam's Black or Sound garden's Blackhole Sun and later in Audio Slave's Like a Stone, hell even the super fast paced charged ones were full of raw emotion like Them Bones by Alice in Chains or Jeremy by PEARL JAM. Smells like Teen Spirit, Heart-Shaped Box and Rape Me by Nirvana... The grunge era was a time of emotions. It's why Rivermaya, Teeth, Eraserheads, Razorback and Wolfgang had raw power through the 90's supercharged atmosphere... There were no one trying to become viral, they just wanted to sing. That's the problem with shows like Got Talent... They made everyone that wasn't willing to work for their art think it was as easy as pleasing judges to get over with fans and get a record deal... Bands had to work hard and play countless gigs and go to so many places they didn't even want to just to get exposure. That's the reality of true bands and this kid, hell, he had better songs like Demonyo when he was younger but because this went "viral" he has no choice but to get lost in the lyrics of singing it or else it will end up a hated song to him if no one tries to listen to his other stuff. The singer and songwriter of "Creep", Thom Yorke, hated his song because that's all people knew his band for when he worked so hard to get his band into the spotlight. I hope this kid gets to show everyone thst this song isn't actually his best... He's got tons. Jeff Buckley did his best to never be labeled as. The guy who sang "Hallelujah" and cranked out a powerful album called "Grace" and it flourished with powerful songs as "Lover you should have come over", " Grace" and "Mojopin". You should really give these guys a listen if you are looking for this type of singing and emotion filled performances. I suggest Pearljam 1992 MTV unplugged, Jeff Buckley's Grace video, Chris Cornell acoustic Blackhole Sun and Billie Jean, nirvana unplugged and any Alice in Chains songs.
