I havn't played bf1, but I have seen other people play it, I though this was a campain mission I hadn't seen. If it wasn't for this comment I would have gone on with my day and never have known

I mean, BF1 is about ww1, there can only be so many weapons that are mostly bolt actions or breech loaders (and experimental semi or full auto rifles)

You might like Isonzo. It’s like BF1 but more balanced so not everyone is running around with Submachine guns and sniper rifles.

@@helium5912 Is it??? He credits the models and voicelines from BF1 on the artstation (which is fine, this isn't a commercial work I assume - just a showcase) but the animation is all original from what I can tell.

to think, it probably felt super high tech for the time, all those mechanical parts working in harmony in the hands of an otherwise ordinary person must be very breathtaking for the time.
That’s because it was high tech at the time. The weapon is what firearms always were, a mechanical advantage for the user over the target. Some gunners didn’t usually have a skill at doing it, they just needed to know how to listen to commands and know how to troubleshoot one of these guns when they fail but sometimes, not even that. This is arguably one of the most realistic depictions of these types of machine guns because the gunner in question is literally firing to deny entry of foreign enemy advancement, even if he can only vaguely see them, that’s because these machine guns had the tactical advantage of spitting out hundreds of rounds per minute to cover a portion of the battlefield (no man’s land) and at a distance of hundreds of yards. these mounted weapons were designed to act more like artillery than a portable death machine and for the time and they worked pretty well.
By the way, I’m not trying to nerd out or anything, I personally just love educating people with this kind of stuff. Some people think that these guns were only fired like below a hundred yards and that it’s all like the game Battlefield 1 or something like that and it’s simply not true. I truly love these guns and from my perspective, I look at them from the point of view that you’re talking about, the view of seeing them for how new (and terrifying) they would have been when they were first introduced in 1908. Very beautiful.

Holy cow, this is absolutely fantastic. I had some very faint memories of Beyond the Wire with the beginning, thought the model was from there but I suppose looking at that Art Station link it's not. That fella' is quite talented at modeling! And of course you are with this top-notch animation, brilliant use of the BF1 audio.

I like that you added voices really helps with how desperate the situation is for a machine gunner to try and reload while the enemy is advancing can't what to see what you do for an MG42 video

I'm so glad you got the character's hearing right when they put their gas mask on. Whether its BF1 or even the very authentic World War 1 Game Series, they have all the sound around them muffled no matter what kind of mask they are wearing

This is the coolest most accurate MG08 I've ever seen.
The attention to detail is insane. Last thing I expected was the gas, haha. Love the voicelines, so much more immersion when you can feel the gunner’s anger. Keep up the good work!

Ngl, a game with the graphics and visuals of BF1, but mixed in some visuals and accuracy from Verdun would go extremely hard.
Extra points if it's accurate but still kind of romantical, like experimental weapons and uniform customization.
I'd legit sink good money into a game like that.

Amazing work, only thing to mention is that the 08/15 drum (Patronenkasten 16) only started to be affixed to MG08s during the interwar years. It’s not the most common to even see them on 08/15s during WWI surprisingly.

The equipment menu may be a little bit futuristic and BF2042 compared to the rest but that can be tweaked or changed to fit the scene aesthetic better.
