Wars of the 20th-21st Century in Shooter Games/Mods

- Here are some 30-60 seconds gameplay of various video games with missions takes places in actual conflicts that happened in 20th-21st Century, starting from WW1 to Syrian Civil War. Lots of Wars happened around the world during that time, unfortunately there are still few games that covering most of those conflicts. That's why I only included like 22 Conflicts in this video because the others haven't been represented yet in Video games/mods.
I was trying to find some Video games/mods that involving the Conflicts like 2nd Boer War, Indonesian National Revolution, Cuban Revolution, Greek Civil War, etc. but no results. Also, there are some ARMA II or III mods set during Portuguese Colonial War, or Congo Crisis. And Squad set during South African Border War, but it's very difficult to find some active servers of those mods so I couldn't play it. Also I just realized I forgot to include Laotian Civil War (Project Reality), Russian Civil War (BF1), and Abu Sayyaf Insurgency in Philippines (MoH: Warfighter). Maybe if I can I'm gonna make the 2nd part.
This video was inspired from the video "Wars of the 20th Century in Movies", made by Salokin but instead my version is Video Games.
(NOTE: Some of gameplay footage were not belongs to me, because I don't have the game or it's hard to get it).

No, it changed already, that do not matter, didn’t changed or changed, it’s no different but another nightmares, brutal fights, even no side was good but exception being asshole, yeah War is fucking completely not a nice.
But technology gets more advanced every day, and war is normal in some places, like Somalia, Yemen, Israel (Gaza and West Bank), Ukraine, and many, many more.
The horror, the suffering never changes.

Would have been nice to see a game that cares even a little bit about being authentic for WW1 like Verdun or Tannenburg
I think Battlefield 1918 does exactly this, and still gets updated
Verdun, Isonzo and Tannenberg are more faithful than BF1
Battlefield 1 is very much more authentic than the WW1 trilogy, what it isnt is realistic, but normal people dont really care about it

I'm spanish and I'd honestly like to see a civil war game (2 campaigns for both sides, being respectful with history and real events), the COD 2 mod was fine but it has many flaws

Author forgot about border conflicts, Sino-japanese war, Chinese, German civil war, Soviet-polish, Football war, war on Cyprus, Lybian Civil war - lots of it.
But, we haven't shooters about this wars.

Pretty interesting how few games these days depict conflicts closer to real time, but I guess this makes sense when the memories are still fresh in peoples heads. But like for example, the Gulf War. Only game that comes to mind is Conflict Desert Storm and there hasn't been anything really since.
The new CoD Black Ops this year will be in the Gulf War (and maybe Yugoslav Wars,since the OTAN bombed Sarajevo in 1999) (the Modern Warfare reboot first game is based on the Chechenian Wars in flashback missions in 1999 and 2009 and the War of Terror after 2019)...maybe in 3 years,will be have Black Ops:Korean War...

@@matiasmorando5962 Yeah again. Those are mods though. Not licensed games. Like it's a mod for a game. If we start including mods, then I can list a ton for Battlefield 2 that add additional conflcts. Or Arma 3.
you could have used bf1942 mod desert combat for the gulf war and the iraq war...
For your information, a mod is already out (which requires the bf1918 mod and the battlefield 1942 game) of the Russian civil war

Rhodesia is the most popular one amongst the other African conflicts and it seems it gains attentions, many CZcamsrs are talking about it. There are more forgotten wars like South African Border War, Portuguese Colonial War, Biafran War, Ogaden War, or Eritrean War of Independence.

What about Battlefield 1's In The Name of the Tsar DLC? That expansion had two maps and factions and an Operations Campaign dedicated to the Russian Civil War

Soviet Afghan war depiction in Bo2 was so bad ngl they put the Bamiyan Budhas in Khost. Khost is mostly Pashtun while the Mujahadeen in the game there speak Iranian Farsi. also i wish they put the Afghan army in the game
Agree with that, also Khost Province has more grass and trees instead of full desert like what they depicted in-game. It's not surprising that CoD Campaigns are not 100% accurate. Even the Pyyrhic Victory mission have so many mistakes such as the absentia of SADF forces, UNITA wears Rhodesian Bushstroke instead of Portuguese Lizard, MPLA/FAPLA charging with machetes and depicted as an underequipped army, and many more.
Even thought 80s BO2 Campaign missions are not historically accurate, let's just say those are so fun to play it, lots of chaotic and blockbuster moment, making it one of my favorite game ever. And what makes it so special the missions are taking places in real life conflicts, unlike BOCW where every missions are pure fictional and unfortunately lots of missed opportunity for not doing the same thing with BO2. As in the 80s there are more brutal conflicts that should've been discovered more in BOCW.

Far Cry 2 was set during the Angolan Civil War
It was actually fictional, and it's true that some elements and geopolitical seems very inspired from Angolan Civil War. But the location was mostly inspired from Mali because some of the building structures resembles Dogon architecture; the Dogon being indigenous to Mali.

Far Cry 2 while set in fictional country is loosely based off of multiple conflicts and civil wars in Africa. Mostly Kenyan crisis and Rwandan civil war.
It ahould start with the Russo- Japanese War of 1903-1904 and the Balkan Wars (1912-1913).
Also the Romanian- Hungarian War, Czechoslovak- Hungarian War (both 1918) Russian Civil War (1917-1925) and so on

Most of PR footages were a coop match I playedd with my friends. Because it's much easier to find an enemy and better for a footage rather than playing multiplayer against real players where you rarely encounters the enemy
@rakhons8703 that's still really cool that people can re create these recent historical battles and gunfights. I think it's good for learning about these conflicts

ARMA III is completely fictional. But if you're talking about the mod one, yes it's true. There are ARMA DLC and mods set in real conflicts. Like for example Praire Fire DLC of Vietnam War. Or many mods set during Portuguese Colonial War, Rhodesian Bush War, Gulf War, and Soviet-Afghan War. Maybe I'm gonna put them in part 2.
