I've followed Alana's channel for several years and always wondered how your views differed from hers. She's so right about annual leave and just how good we have it in the UK. As an Englishman who lived in the US, I know that the States is even worse than Canada!
As for negative attitudes towards immigrants (being called a "fucking yank!", etc.), I can only apologise that such people exist over here. Please note that most of us aren't that way and certainly welcome people such as you and Alana.
House prices are insane. I'm originally from London, but it'd be almost impossible for me to own property there now. I own a very small flat in Peterborough which would be three times the cost if I was in London. Alana mentioned Canterbury which certainly isn't cheap, but if Burlington (sp?) is 45% dearer, it must be insanely off the chart!
Canada sounds very much like the US in that you need a driving licence - not surprising considering the size of the country. I'm 56 years old and have only ever driven when I lived in the US. We complain about public transport in Britain, but, extortionate train fares aside, it's generally not bad.

    • @roberttreborable
      @roberttreborable Před 7 měsíci +3

Public transport not so good if you live in rural England, don't know about other parts of the UK but think it's worst in Rural Scotland.

I really enjoyed seeing my two favourite Canadians in the same video, something I’ve been wanting for ages, Alanna I refer to as my neighbour, and that’s only due to the fact we both live in Kent but you too should really get together and do something it will be an amazing video but I enjoyed this very much

There are immigrants and there are immigrants. Across the Western world people are currently experiencing the problems associated with immigrants from certain countries and cultures and religions in the Middle East and Africa moving to Western countries in huge numbers.

I think if you call Canda "America light",sorry if I offend any Canadians here, but I would guess you get the best picture that way when you compare England with Canada..Canada is Europeanized version of America one can say here..a half way house between USA and Europe..A softer America one could call it as well..

Am subscribed to both your and Alanna's channel. It's (mostly) nice to see how our weird and wonderful land is perceived by people from other lands. Obviously the aggro you have both encountered makes my blood boil. It's great to see people getting out and seeing more of the world. From what I've seen of the pair of you on your videos, there's nothing to dislike. You're totally welcome here as far as I'm concerned. I've often wondered if you two would collaborate and compare notes. You're probably only about an hour on a train away from each other (if that). Interesting that you say you're probably from the same area back in Canada, too! Anyway, time to finish off my Canadian fix with some Charlotte Dobre :o)

You'd be surprised at the different attitude that the British have between Americans and Canadians. I have known Americans that will tell British people that they are Canadian, and they say you can feel the change in attitude, and lot of that comes down to politics. The British tend to think of Americans as brash, loud, boastful, interfering, and have the habit of looking down on everyone else, traits the British tend not to like.
Whereas Canadians are looked on as sweet, polite, try not to cause a fuss, always saying sorry (a lot), and are part of the commonwealth, so we see a lot of us in Canadians. And we do tend to look at Canadians as British via the commonwealth, like people from Australia or New Zealand.
Yes it's a stereotypical outlook on people, which can change once you get to know someone.

Second post here in this clip. Meghan,I think you should contact this canadian woman living in Kent..you seems to have many of the same experiences, you come from the same area in Canada, you are both of you much in the very same boat..so to say. Maybe it can become a very nice friendship out of this? To answer where is it best to live? I guess where you guys ultimately stays will be the best country,if you thought otherwise you would both return to Canada..thats the sensible thing to do if you find that its better to live there. Ive been blessed myself with living in a smaller country in scandinavia where almost all of my relatives live..I dont need to go somewhere else because I feel its better, and then lose immidiate contact with my family, and thats a blessing,I know how painful it can be otherwise,I studied 4 years in the US so I felt that on my own skin...at least for 4 years.

I don't get why people troll or spew hate in people's DMs or comment sections, If you don't like someone or their content just scroll on, why feel the need to be abusive & hateful? Maybe it's a generational thing being a 'keyboard warrior', I'm in my 50s, and my attitude is, if you're not brave enough to say it to my face, don't say it at all. Both of you have good channels, and both of you seem like decent people, so I don't understand why you'd attract hate & abuse?🤷🏻‍♂️

"Do you prefer living here or there?" has always seemed like a insensitive and silly question.
It's like saying do you prefer your birth and family home or your current home? The two are not comparable as they are completely different in circumstances. It could be easily answered by some, but ultimately... it's a horrible question that will have conflict in thoughts.
Also... 3.3 million people living in London are a migrant. There are 9 million people residing in London. 35% of people in London are Born there.... the rest are from the UK. So "mostly" immigrants is straight up inaccurate, it's just over 1/3... That's classed a minority. Nearly 2/3's are born in UK, just over half of which are Born in London.

You must meet up with the lovely Alanna and I have thought of the greatest meet up place!! Tim Horton’s in Gravesend Kent!!! For you a quick trip to Charing X and a 30 ish minute train trip to Gravesend, then a shortish stroll down towards the River, go past the huge Asda, and on the other side of the road, you will see TH’s. For Alanna, she’s been there before, so she knows where it is!
And I only live about 20 mins away from Gravesend (in Dartford) - and used to work in the neighbouring town of Northfleet - and I’ve never been to dine in Tim Horton’s….. 😵‍💫😥
There you go, your social life meeting fellow Canadians who live “locally’ 😉 all sorted for you! My “arrangement fee” will be in the post 😉🤣

    Hi Megan,
Why some Brits will insult Canadians as Yanks.
They don't know any better, have a bad ear for accents
If trying to insult a Canadian, calling them American is probably the worst we could do.
Having to learn Canuck (does that count as an insult, if so sorry) would be hard and its not like its worth the effort.
I hope you realise this is all in jest.
I don't think many actively dislike either Americans or Canadians.
